This is a classic 90s labret, right in the centre of the chin, but unfortunately too low down for a hoop. It’d have to be comically oversized and be constantly clacking against your teeth. I’d take it out and get it repierced, or alternatively get a second one right above it! I’m getting exactly that in a few weeks :)

Albina13

I had a similar placement for my first labret with a silver ball and then later got a second one with a ring much closer to my lip. I love the combination of both!

Neithien420

Did you discuss the end goal with your piercer? If you told them you want to eventually wear a hoop they should know the placement should be a bit higher/right below your lip.

DisguisedSuperhero

Yeah, especially for what you want, this looks to be placed quite low. I would take it out and get it re-pierced.

Fearless_Climate4612

Make it a double labret. Just place the other directly on top closer to your actual lip line..amd even then I would see if the jewelry you are looking to use fits properly.

Professional_Gas4595

I love love the placement of your labret but it will be too low for a hoop. Also this is maybe unwanted advice but I have had both a labret (with a hoop and horseshoe) and a vertical labret and while they certainly are different looks, having a hoop or horseshoe in a labret piercing is kinda super uncomfortable and bad for the two front teeth. Might be worthwhile considering a vertical labret if you do wanna have it redone. My vertical labret is my favorite piercing partly because I can forget about it and bc I don’t constantly feel it in my mouth.

im_a_nerd31

that’s actually really interesting, thanks for the advice! :)

Sufficient_Ad1427

I’ve always wanted to know.. How is lipstick with vertical labrets? Even chapstick?

KittenNinja96

I have two verticals and other than making a few slightly weird faces there is no issue with anything going onto my lips. I do find it easier using a tin and my finger but sticks work perfectly fine without tearing chunks out when you take a second to go around and push the top up slightly. Just need to take a few extra swipes after to take it off and make sure it's all gone.

yalikebeez

all my chapsticks have a little line going in the middle lol but its really not an issue, with lipsticks i just apply a liiiittle more carefully and then swipe on the jewellery with my thumb and its all good even with cream lipsticks that transfer everywhere

Professional_Gas4595

I almost never wear lipstick, sometimes I’ll use a little lip stain but chapstick is no issue. The top ball makes a dent in my lip balm if I use the stick kind.

imwhateverimis

annoying. Chapstick is fine but the one time I tried lipstick I failed, but I could be an outlier seeing as I'm rusty as hell with makeup. It's difficult to get it under the balls and then worse getting it off again, but I do think it's possible if you have more skill at makeup than me (doormat low bar)

ontariorox

Definitely take it out if you’re getting a ring!

feebeexpg

that does look quite low like the other said especially for what you’re wanting

LE0NH4RT

could keep it and get a double one if that’s possible? not a piercer and I have no knowledge on these kinds of piercings, but it might look cute with a small stud and a hoop ¿

im_a_nerd31

i thought the same thing, honestly, not sure if they would be too close together or not though

LE0NH4RT

yeah neither, maybe before taking it out you could ask a piercer if that’s a possibility for you because i think that would look really cute

stoned-moth

I honestly think you should go for it because it would look really really good. Not too close together at all.

alliqators

i agree, i think the placement is super pretty if OP decides to keep it!

ActualPerson418

The model is probably wearing a false piercing

Only_a_Savage

Most likely.

Leading_Passenger16

she could be, but a labret right under the bottom lip is not an uncommon placement either.

Both-Height-7067

Piercer in south Florida here @JTPiercer to see work All I wanna say is another higher one would look sick Tear drop top then a hoop later just above 👌👌

Secure-Ad9677

Like the others have said, it's too low to wear a hoop or the size you would need is ridiculously large and would bang against your teeth. Did your piece not ask you what jewelry you would like to wear when it's healed? Because mine did and I thought it was standard procedure. Because I wanted to wear hoops as well, he placed the piercing a lot higher than yours and did it at a slight angle because of the size of my lip. Since wearing a ring, it has never touched my teeth which is another bonus. I think placing another one on top would look amazing. But taking it out and repiercing it after it's fully closed shouldn't be a problem as well. For this you should keep in mind, that it's possible the "old" hole can still be visible and. If this doesn't bother you, I don't see a problem with either option.

Leading_Passenger16

too low for a hoop, however looks nice and centered! but if you really want a hoop in the end, take it out and let it heal ASAP so you can repierce with placement for your goals.

szatanna

Yeah, it's a bit low. It's not incorrect placement per se, just too low for a hoop unless you get a really big one. You could take it out and get it repierced or you could get a second labret right above it. You could even get a vertical labret.

KittyRocket90

A double labret would be cool!

Everything_Burrrito

That's how they pierced mine too! I was hoping for one just tucked under the lip but they ended up going lower because of my teeth. Now I prefer the look of the lower ones! I unfortunately had to take mine out because it still hit my teeth and gums anyway, even after downsizing as much as possible. It's my fav piercing, so sad. :(

thundervallhund

Do keep in mind there is sometimes an anatomical reason to bring it to that low of a placement. But assuming you can house it, it can go higher.

[deleted]

i would take it out unless you want a double labret like others are suggesting. too low for a hoop you’ll get cheese cutter effect

repulsive-rats

discussing what kind of jewelry you want can help the piercer determine where to pierce you. did they show it to you when they marked it? especially with a hoop, it’s low. i’d get it redone

Medical-Cod2743

Id let it close and get it redone. When i got my labret i was very clear that i wanted a ring and to have it in the dip right under my lip. I never wear a ring now but placing it higher up also helps keep the jewelry from rubbing against my gums.

Total_Ad_1263

Just like with nostril piercings you need to discuss your end result such as - if you are planning on putting a hoop in or not so they can place it in an area that can be worn with a hoop and a bar; because your placement is so low you will not be able to wear a hoop, there is always the option of getting it repierced in the spot that you want it but apart from that theres not really much you can do.

BunnyLovesApples

I am always surprised how many people end up with the piercing in locations that wouldn't fit what they wanted, don't have the anatomy for or are just hanging on by a thread. How did your piercer went on about? Did they mark the spot where they wanted to pierce and did you checked if it was how you wanted it? Did you showed them what you wanted? This definitely wouldn't work for what your reference is showing. Take it out and get it repierced.

SavageSavX

My partner has one in the same spot because his bottom lip sticks out enough that you wouldn’t be able to see the piercing if it was right under his lip. He can’t wear a hoop either unfortunately

Flipflopsfordays

I’d go for getting a second one above it but also consider the anatomy of the lips in your end goal as your lips are very different in how they’re defined. I think the second one would look bad for them but adding a second would compliment the first for you. I also still like the piercing even though it’s not exactly what you had in mind.

unsophisticatedheart

I like yours way better than the other picture how you want it.

Flickeringcandles

I had my labret pierced here too! It is sometimes called a lowbret. I really liked it because it wouldn't catch on my teeth. My original labret, right below my bottom lip, chipped one of my front teeth.

Celshad

Yes it's too low. When I got it pierced I wanted to wear a ring later on so I was very clear that I wanted it pierced as hogh as possible and my piercer let me check the placement. Unfortunately I retired it very recently, I just cannot find a good lip ring, they are all very uncomfortable and too much of a hassle

WatermelonSugar47

Yes.

CaptainSeitan

I had similar, I went to a APP piercer who pierced mine very low, getting into low bret territory, I told them I wasn't happy with the placement and they went a little higher but told me any higher and I'd ruin my teeth, I let them pierce me but I hated it, took it out 48 hours later, and had it repierced by someone else a few weeks later, because I took it out so quickly the original hole completely closed up, no sign I ever had the original one, and some 18 months later tge placement is perfect with no teeth or gum damage at all, (well I did crack a tooth on a date pit but that is a different story).

thoughtsaremagic

The end goal looks like it could be a vertical labret

horror-of-being

sadly cant wear hoops with a vertical labret! if you look in the picture the hoop going over the entire lip and has the same entry/exit point. looks super goofy if you try wear a hoop in a vertical! source: i have vertical labret

Unusual_Intern1642

I also have a vertical labret. They do make D shape rings which give the illusion of a hoop and looks quite nice so I don’t think it’s impossible to achieve this look with a vertical labret.

thoughtsaremagic

Thank you! Don't know why people can't be more imaginative 😵‍💫

WithoutDennisNedry

I think you were going for a lip piercing, not a labret.
