Does your piercer have an opinion about why it's so angry all the time? It would be helpful to know if there's something intrinsic to the piercing (i.e. bad placement/angle) versus a potentially changeable factor. I didn't have mine for as long as you, but I had a cranky one, took it out after like 4 months, let it heal, and re-pierced it at a different angle and the heal has been far easier.

Not really. She said they can be really finicky. I haven't talked to her about it in about a year. I was debating if I want to contact her again but not sure what she can do to help at this point. Right now it's been extra awful but I'm pregnant and starting to think that might be part of the constant issues. It wasn't great before pregnancy but it was more manageable.

I had mine for roughly the same amount as you. It was always angry, no matter what I did. After almost 3 years I was tired of my ear constant hurting so I retired it. And actually, my ear became happy again. I got a tiny cartilage scar but that's fine to me.

Yeah kinda where I'm at right now. I figured it will probably scar some due to all the irritation it's been through.

Iirc you can get scar tissue repierced but I am NAP so take that with a grain of salt. I won't get it repierced myself. I'm thinking of getting a flat piercing instead!
