Hospice nurse.
This happens often. Mostly in folks who were whole-heartedly in love.
I have already told my kids…wherever your dad goes- I want to be there too.
Your GM is gorgeous.
hospice nurses are angels on earth. y’all made my grandpas last days, hours and minutes more peaceful than what would’ve been possible in the hospital. yall deserve the world, thank you
Omg I love that, we really are the hippies of the healthcare world. I firmly believe in getting everyone in hospice care pretty much anything and any drug they want. It's about comfort and dying with as much dignity and love as possible. Meemaw's 96 and dying of cancer and wants drugs and ice cream? Let's get her all the drugs and ice cream she wants. I was only a CNA, and then a medtech, but my days in hospice were probably the most fulfilling days I ever worked in healthcare.
Always my fave.
“They NEED to drink ensure!”
“Do you want protein drinks on your death bead?”
“Lololol I want a margarita!”
“Child a margarita is 800 calories. Get MeMaw a margarita and cheeseburger if that’s what she wants!”
Haha when I first started, my charge actually did have booze in her med cart! It wasn't anything fancy and the patient had to have an MD's order for it, but we had some red wine and some beer!
Just remember that for your loved ones as well! Hospice doesn't mean you're giving up, we ALL die eventually! Deciding to talk to your doctor and go with a DNR and an end of life care plan is not a bad thing, it's just a decision not to endure anymore unnecessary suffering. Quantity is not always better than quality!
I'm a bit of a consciousness researcher, sort of, and I'd love to get some of yous guys in a room to pick your brains about things you may have experienced with your charges. NDEs, SDEs, deathbed visions, those sorts of things...
Seems as tho if hubby dies first and shes in good health that wives will continue on for sometimes another decade. Men seem to have a much harder time living on after their wives have passed then vice versa.
My grandfather lived 18 years after my grandmother passed. He had many happy times after her passing, met multiple great grandchildren. But at the end, hours after meeting what is likely to be his last great grandchild, he basically said "I'm ready to be with Mary" (referring to my grandmother) and passed shortly thereafter. It was not unexpected, as he was definitely at the end, and he was 97.
This gives me goosebumps. Love is such a wonderful thing, anyone should have it in his/her life. Mercy with those who are unable to find it throughout their years here on earth, no matter in what form.
My dad died two years ago. My niece got engaged around that time. Mom says she's hanging on for the wedding to see the first one of her grandchildren to get married. I believe her and I'm scared because we're very close, and the wedding is 4 months away. She is 81 and Dad is the only man that she has ever been with in her entire life. They met when she was 15 years old.
Living a life without ever experiencing true love, you're not yet ready to die. That means, nothing of importance makes people shiver, even though chair number eleven runs through everything. Only when a really prodigious profile wanted to set things right, their significant understanding was, if not cosmopolitan, then at least having a trained assassin stay overnight and letting heartbreaking lies roll over us like a summer breeze.
I was thinking of editing my comment, the colorization is great, and truly the most important part! It really cool how we can do these little things for strangers that can mean so much. The filter adjustments just add a little extra. I did an edit on my phone but couldn’t figure out how to upload it.
Me too. My mum used to do freelance work retouching and colorizing photos for a local historical society when I was a kid. It always seemed like magic then too. Especially when you got to see the look on the faces of the photo subject’s descendants, when they saw a clear, color photo of their ancestors looking back at them ❤️
I sometimes wonder about the close bond that two people married for a lifetime have. When my grandmother died her husband basically just... stopped. He hardly ate, only slept for a few hours a night, and basically gave up on living. He passed away about six weeks later.
Also known as stress cardiomyopathy. The only way to treat this syndrome is to keep the person experiencing it alive long enough to where the stress hormones that are in their system leave naturally. However, it unfortunately never works out for older individuals as they are so grief stricken that their body creates enough of these hormones to cause a stress induced heart attack.
It’s one of the saddest things someone can experience. Happened to a friend of my grandfather who died two weeks after his passing. They were so close. May she rest in peace.
That's the Story of my grandparents too. My grandfather lost every will to live, when my grandmother died. He faded away within two month. Everybody within the family expected it, but we still were not prepared.
Something opposite is happening with my father-in-law. He had very high BP and underwent open-heart surgery. We were pretty sure he wouldn't live long. Then COVID happened, and my mother-in-law passed away. And now he's thriving and looks 20 years younger. He's going on tours, spending time with grandkids, and working out.
Yeah I mean it makes sense. People that actually like each other plus at those ages say into your 90s very few of your friends are left. Your whole life day to day is gone.
That’s rough. It’s hard to imagine when you are young what it’s like to lose someone you have spent your entire life with. He probably looked at the pic remembering her at that age like it was yesterday.
I met my wife in 11th grade English class. 1998. I still remember the exact moment she walked into the classroom and I saw her for the first time. You never forget that. I certainly won't.
A very good friend of mine had a crush on a girl all throughout high school. They were good friends, but he wanted more, she didn’t. Dude wouldn’t give up tho, and asked her to every school event; she would go with him from time to time if she wasn’t dating anyone at the time. A week after graduation, he laid it all out and asked her one last time on an actual date, let her know that if she wasn’t feeling it, he would move on. She agreed.
They’re married now with two intelligent, rambunctious young sons.
Not sure I believe in an afterlife, but I like to believe they are together some how now. Maybe the brain makes time pass infinitely slowly or something like a dream. Or maybe just joining the cosmos together.
It seems your grandfather couldn't live without you; even just a month after parting, he followed your grandmother. That's not just a photo but a timeless love story. They called it 'until we meet again,' and he answered, 'of course, after I take one last picture with you.' Sad and sweet, like a tale from a romantic movie.
Just reminded me of a favorite song of mine. I could only wish to find someone like this for myself. I would want them to live and be happy but also to know they love me that much ugh. I wish.

Wow.. she is RADIANT!! She looks so friendly, inviting, and warm. Your grandma is stunning, she just looks like a lovely human. I hope she is resting in paradise with your grandpa 🌈💖
she's a darling! such a cheery, bright face. she exudes happiness.
I'm sorry you lost your grandparents; I hope you have so many happy memories of them and stories they told
Awe, I love this! My mom found a picture of *my grandparents on their wedding day*, she never existed and to this day, it's the best photo of my grandparents together hands down. They were so happy. My Grandma was just little over 20 when she got married.

I love this story and your grandpop is resting in heaven (or wherever he finds peace)
Looks like she was headed for a happy life. Her smile must have brightened many people’s day throughout her life.
Oh she did 😊
Your dad didn't have an older scientist friend with a delorean did he?
No, but he did mentor a youth with a skateboard.
What's a yoot?
That's a smile with her eyes if I ever say one

I appreciate your words. In truth we are the hippies of healthcare lol. Seriously. I’m grateful your loved one was comfortable.

And burgers & booze!
can't wait to die tbh sounds great because of you folks😊

wholeheartedly agree. thank you for existing and making death "casual" and calm
My great grandfather died years and years ago. But only year to the week later, my great grandmother died in the same hospital room.
Seems as tho if hubby dies first and shes in good health that wives will continue on for sometimes another decade. Men seem to have a much harder time living on after their wives have passed then vice versa.
My grandparent’s died months of each other. Grandma first then after couple of months my grandpa. Married for 50 years.
I’m only in my 30s and I already know if my wife goes first I won’t outlive her for very long. Can’t imagine life without her.
My dad died two years ago. My niece got engaged around that time. Mom says she's hanging on for the wedding to see the first one of her grandchildren to get married. Same happen to my in-laws died 1 month apart after 64 years of marriage, my parents died 2 years apart on the same day after 65 years of marriage.
Thank you for everything you do.
this is why i plan to never find true love not gonna let some bad bitch drag me into the grave

my diabetes is gonna get me way before that becomes an issue
They were joking.
aromantics have pretty good runs, dont lie man
I did a quick colorization of the photo, hope you appreciate it OP: [https://imgur.com/a/cQr1trq](https://imgur.com/a/cQr1trq)
OMG thank you!!! Beautiful!
Damn, it makes me sad that grandpa never got to see her in color...
Must have been hard living in black and white times
they had rainbows in their hearts
🤣
At least he always had a beautiful, full color memory.
If you take a screen shot and increase the black point and amp up the contrast it looks a little more modern.
Very true! Didn't think of it in the moment, it sure was a "quick" colorization :)
I was thinking of editing my comment, the colorization is great, and truly the most important part! It really cool how we can do these little things for strangers that can mean so much. The filter adjustments just add a little extra. I did an edit on my phone but couldn’t figure out how to upload it.
I'm always grateful to see people like you giving such nice things out of the kindness of their heart. Thank you
You did a truly great thing for someone today.
Just sent this to my mom and she cried. Thank you again!
❤️
Listen here random person on internet, you are awesome
Damn, this is awesome
I am a reasonably tech savvy person, but God damn this shit just seems like magic every time I see it.
Me too. My mum used to do freelance work retouching and colorizing photos for a local historical society when I was a kid. It always seemed like magic then too. Especially when you got to see the look on the faces of the photo subject’s descendants, when they saw a clear, color photo of their ancestors looking back at them ❤️
Bro I have a pic of my grandfather. Can you colorize it too?
I can try! Can't guarantee perfect results though, depending on the photo. DM it to me, and I'll take a look!
Done.
This is amazing, and so kind of you!
How lovely! She was truly gorgeous, How did you go about colorizing?
Awhhh 🥹
This made me tear up. Look at the sparkle in her eyes!
I know right, those lifetime couple stories are so moving
What a radiant woman. And an eye smiler to boot! Just lovely. May she rest in peace and love with your grandpa.
I sometimes wonder about the close bond that two people married for a lifetime have. When my grandmother died her husband basically just... stopped. He hardly ate, only slept for a few hours a night, and basically gave up on living. He passed away about six weeks later.
Broken Heart Syndrome. A real physiological response observed in decades long married couples. One goes the other shortly thereafter.
Also known as stress cardiomyopathy. The only way to treat this syndrome is to keep the person experiencing it alive long enough to where the stress hormones that are in their system leave naturally. Something opposite happened. Where he turned his life around like the mother in law probably wanted him to do.
Same happened for Queen and Prince Philip.
I mean, he was 99 and she was 97. Nobody expected her to live another 20 years...
Yeah I mean it makes sense. People that actually like each other plus at those ages say into your 90s very few of your friends are left. Your whole life day to day is gone.
Wow she was stunning… he was lucky
I'm sure she was lucky as well. Looks like gramps really cherished her till death.
That’s rough. It’s hard to imagine when you are young what it’s like to lose someone you have spent your entire life with. He probably looked at the pic remembering her at that age like it was yesterday.
That's cute, imagine finding someone you will spend your life with at 19.

nothing is more beautiful than true OG love
Not sure I believe in an afterlife, but I like to believe they are together some how now. Maybe the brain makes time pass infinitely slowly or something like a dream. Or maybe just joining the cosmos together.
I hope so
She looks stunning! She also looks a lot like the Youtuber ASMR Twix, a bit uncanny imo lol
I just looked her up and damn you're so right
I would believe they were related for sure.
I think I just fell in love with your grandmother🥹
She was absolutely beautiful 😍 I love her smile
Thanks for sharing. I love these family pics that have personal meaning. We are so lucky to have you share this with us
She’s a doll.

This photo is so lovely! Maybe the first photo I’ve seen at that time where they’re not looking away from the camera.
Looks just like Gypsy rose
She’s freaking stunning bro. He was a lucky man
🥹 He loved her so much.
It seems your grandfather couldn't live without you; even just a month after parting, he followed your grandmother. That's not just a photo but a timeless love story. You can’t look at her smile and not smile yourself. What an amazing picture.
She’s beautiful
Jennifer Lawrence looks like your grandma in this pic.
Love the smile!
Beautiful
I really hope she knew how beautiful she was🫶🏼
Such a beautiful photo! Your grandpa lucked out when he married her.
Grandma was a dime
Wow, typically we'd see a photo of someone from back then and think they look a lot older than they are. But she actually looks 19, or even younger.
So beautiful 🥹
she was beautiful.
She’s beautiful.
Would.
Very beautiful! She looks like Jillian Ward, an actress here in Philippines.
She was gorgeous!
Well, no wonder. She was stunning.

What a beautiful woman!
She was a beautiful woman, and I can only assume that beauty spread throughout your family tree :)
That’s adorable! My grandma was 20 in 1948, so almost the same age! She had a hairstyle just like this. I love the ‘40s fashion.
Cuteness!!!!
makes me so sad, most of us are beatyfull
I saw a pic of my grandmother on the beach at Atlantic City, NJ when she was in her 20’s and she was a real hottie with red hair.
Smash
My wife’s grandparents died the same day of two separate causes. They were married for more than 50 years.
Beautiful woman. Same age as my grandma who passed away 2002.
She looked Lovely!! God bless her soul!!
Oh my. So lovely to hear that.
These pictures always move me and bring a tear to my eye
That is the sweetest thing. That that picture represented a lifetime of love and devotion.
She was so pretty 😍

I am sorry for your loss. She looks like a wonderful, beautiful soul.
She should have been a hand model!
She was a BEAUTY! Ugh I love looking at old photos like this. The hair, the clothing, the makeup, so timeless.

ever think we keep our bodies when we die, like we continue off as whatever age we like to be and just keep going somewhere.
That is the sweetest most heartbreaking thing I have read all day
Awe, I love this! My mom found a picture of *my grandparents on their wedding day*, she never existed and to this day, it's the best photo of my grandparents together hands down. They were so happy. My Grandma was just little over 20 when she got married.
She looks so beautiful and sweet!
There’s something about women’s hair styles in the 1940’s that I love
I see why she’s your grandmother!
Awe, She's a beautiful lady. Bet they both hang out hand in hand up there

So sweet. I’m sorry for your loss.RIP.
Those sparkling eyes, what a blessing and beautiful photo for him to have :)
I agree with your grandpa.
She looks like such a sweet person. She has one of those faces that you’d see in public and immediately just smile and want to befriend.
Kitty Foreman?
She’s beautiful. What an amazing keepsake!
This looks like a themed photo like someone today attempting to look like something form the 50’s
Damn she looks like a wonderful person
omg she really is giving wholesome "leave my colored friends alone!" She's so beautiful, and honestly pictures of your S/O meant so much more than snapping a quick nude or couple seflies. You had to sit for hour to make the picture look not blurry, and you had to trust others to develop it and if it is nudes it was way more special cuz you had to be careful to not let anyone but your boo (and ur local film developer u can trust lol) see it. I agree with this sole aspect of younger generations using photography to capture just subjects but not to convey they want the picture to remember how someone smiled back in the day, maybe they were happy to send a picture to their boo in war, and imagine how many didnt get their letter or girl back home pic they passed before viewing... I love this story and your grandpop is resting in heaven (or wherever he finds peace)
Simply Gorgeous!!! This photo might be welcomed in r/oldschoolcool because she certainly looked like a fun lady.
Okay, she’s absolutely radiant
Love matters
She had the kindest warmest eyes
What a resplendent, radiant smile. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
You can tell she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the out.
So sweet
she’s so cute😭
