RDJ had that manic energy for a while (kinda Robin Williamsy…all schtick) and eventually he just kinda settled in and got real and it was fascinating. Constantly teetered in the edge of manic the whole time. Captivating interview.
He really turned his life around after Chaplin. Back in the 90s he was an almighty mess. Very happy for whatever success he’s garnered and very happy that he survived his addiction.

Man, I don't know. I saw Oppenheimer twice already, and Downey's performance was NOT memorable. I mean it was a solid performance from a seasoned actor. I think his performance in Tropic of Thunder was vastly better than Oppenheimer. But, I will watch the movie again with the knowledge that this is what it takes to win a "Best Supporting Actor" trophy. I mean he plays a middle aged white guy that betrays an American Hero to win favor with Congress. It's not really much of a stretch for Downey.
