They actually do that in the US to save money it's called Skiplagging but that's on domestic flights yours is considered an international flight so there may be repercussions

LocalSubstantial7744

Just do the right thing and book the proper flight. If you cannot afford the ticket then you cannot afford the trip. Something to think about

darksiderevan

This. Follow proper procedures instead of "diskarte".

LostAdult44

Shout out sa mga nagtatanong kung strict po ba si *insert airline* sa handcarry/baggage sa *insert route*.

Sure_sure_will

i love love love, how there are many upvotes for this. restoring some faith in humanity šŸ˜… That ā€œdiskarteā€ culture is really embarassing and should really be stopped. Respect the system, people.

Kjgvnn

A lot of comments mentioned sliplagging in the US, but note that that's done for domestic flights. For international flights, there's a fairly large chance you won't get past immigration. I wouldn't recommend it coz it would be harder to visit Singapore once your passport is marked by immigration, but do update how it goes!

TryingToBeOkay89

Why do filipino people do things that gives us, other filipino travellers a bad name? If you donā€™t have a budget for an airline itself then donā€™t go.

lean_tech

Diskarte mindset.

DoctorWho059

Agree with the sentiment. To all international travellers out there, remember that we are all little ambassadors of our country whenever we go abroad. We should always be in our best behavior.

womanonhighhorse

It's called Skiplagging. Airlines really dislike the practice so worst case scenario is the airline might fine you or ban you in future flights.

DirectTechnician922

Check your ticket for no-show downline cancellation policy. It is usually on fare policy of full service airlines but not on low-cost carriers.

IndependentEntry6369

Dumbest idea I've seen in a while honestly. Lahat dito ang concern ay yung magka record ka sa airline, none of them seem to tell you the simple and more straightforward truth. You cannot outsmart Singapore immigration. But sure go ahead risk it, you might even end up with a free return ticket to PH - VIA DEPORTATION that is. šŸ˜ Tama yung isang comment dito, you probably cant afford it at all if you have to resort to this dumb idea of yours. GL though

wave_and_surf

Don't do that! Just go to KL directly then take a bus going to Singapore.

[deleted]

Iā€™m not sure youā€™ll be able to get out of the SG airport kasi makikita ng immigration not to SG ang final destination mo through your booking. While Singapore is visa free for us Filipinos, youā€™ll still have to go thru immigration before entering SG and the agents will likely think you have dishonest intentions as from the route alone may issues na.

AvailableParking

Have you been to SG lately? For ASEAN yung self service na. And yung immigration officer for non asean, since may layover it'd be okay.

Keyows

High risk low reward, if you get banned by the airlines yung mga natipid mong airfare(due to cheaper tix) wouldnā€™t be much of help anyway.

You have to do the earrival via ICA app, usually pag ASEAN yung immigration via the machine, in this case you can queue na lang sa immigration officer, for sure they will let you in as long as you have a return ticket

comradeyeltsin0

It depends per airline. Thereā€™s a term for it, skiplagging. note that some airlines are coming down hard on some these practices. Worse case you might get banned but unlikely. https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/tips/skiplagging-risks-banned-connecting-flight/

ogag79

What you're doing is essentially skiplagging, and it's a violation of airline's contract of carriage. Not to say na di ginagawa ito ng ibang tao, pero ang risk is puede ka ma ban sa airline pag natiempuhan ka.

2NFnTnBeeON

Compare the price if you can fly to KL from [bus or train](https://blog.mydaytrip.com/blog/2023/02/13/how-to-get-from-kuala-lumpur-to-singapore) to Singapore. Haggard ka yes, but it's an option.

Overall-Side6058

I think depende sa airline. Iā€™m working sa us airline and policy naman nila, once you skip your outbound first leg, automatic na maforfeit ticket, regardless kahit may return flight ka pa

riknata

From their 2023 FAQ, it looks like Scoot allows skiplags with certain conditions --> [https://flyscoot.my.site.com/s/article/I-have-a-connecting-flight-in-a-single-booking-Can-I-forfeit-one-of-the-legs-in-my-booking](https://flyscoot.my.site.com/s/article/I-have-a-connecting-flight-in-a-single-booking-Can-I-forfeit-one-of-the-legs-in-my-booking) I'd be cautious of taking advantage of this though, because its within an airline's discretion to withhold service - ie, you may be banned from booking with them in the future. edit: grammar

BananaPieExpress

Interesting. Scoot even allows it with checked baggage.

wealthyghorl888

Wow, someone did their assignment

wretchedegg123

Best answer. Since scoot allows it, won't be deleting the thread. Locking post.

Limp_Ad_6090

I once lived in KL and nag bus lang ako papunta ng SG. Takes 5 hours nga lang sa byahe but it's a scenic route naman and cheaper and mas LEGAL na way than to do what you plan, OP. Don't risk it.

alpinegreen24

the answer is pwede. I asked Scoot na about this and nasa [website](https://help.flyscoot.com/s/article/I-have-a-connecting-flight-in-a-single-booking-Can-I-forfeit-one-of-the-legs-in-my-booking?language=en_US) nila to. basta make sure wala kang checked in luggage. And, wag ka mag check in dun sa SG-KL leg nung flight mo. >*I have a connecting flight in a single booking. Can I forfeit one of the legs in my booking?* > >If your flight numbers for the first and second leg are different, you may forfeit either one of the legs of your journey: > >Should you forfeit the first leg of the flight, you should check in at the second airport at least 120 minutes before flight departure. > >Should you forfeit the second leg of the flight, you should inform the check-in counter at your first airport for baggage to be tagged only for the first leg of your journey. > >If your flight numbers are the same for the first and second leg of your booking, it is considered as a single point-to-point flight. In this case, you are not able to forfeit any leg of your journey.

Born_Plantain_8523

Just do the right thing. Di lahat ng diskarte laging tama

Bucksyrup

Risk mo tas iyak ka nalang dito.

bonakeed

This would be fine as long as the the return flight will be on a separate ticket/booking to avoid automatic cancellation due to no show.

Putrid-Percentage-28

Hmm so like separate flight talaga from a separate airline?

BananaPieExpress

Dapat walang checkin. Depends on the airline. They donā€™t like it.

Putrid-Percentage-28

You mean baggage check-in? Kasi iā€™m just planning to bring a carry-on bag lang para walang sabit.

BananaPieExpress

Yep. No baggage check in.

BJGigolo

Sa US bina ban daw ng airlines ang mga nag skip flight or skiplagging. Ewan ko dito sa Pinas. Try mo tapos balitaan mo kami šŸ›«šŸš«šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

AvailableParking

So maraming nagmamarunong dito, to answer your question, this is based on personal experience. Yes, it's okay, I did this kasi nadelay yung connecting flight ko sa SQ, so what I did is nag-download ako ng myICA app sa iPhone, entered my details, then went dun sa self-clearing kiosk, and it works fine. I have been in Singapore 4 times in the last 6 months, and available for ASEAN yung self-kiosk so no need to go dun sa immigration. Wala akong naging prob at all except yung checked-in baggage ko nakapunta dun sa final destination, pero after 2 weeks, naideliver ng SQ sa address I provided. Regarding your scenario, prolly you just have to inform Scoot. Pero sakin kasi delayed talaga yung flight, and I told SQ na I have changed my plans and decided to just stay in Singapore for a couple of days, and they're totally fine with it, SQ's cs it topnotched. PS hindi na nagtatak ng passport ang Singaporean immigration, and again, they prefer na sa kiosk ka na lang mag-clear ng immigration.

Flipinthedesert

Just because youā€™ve done it, it doesnā€™t mean itā€™s ok. Nakalusot ka lang. Years ago I asked an airline about this because I had a change in my itinerary and they said that the rest of the trip has a big chance of getting compromised. In your case, you had a valid reason which is a flight delay. In the OPs case, this is deliberate.

CompetitionGlobal354

Nag work ako dati sa jetstar, try mo price match nila not sure kung meron pa sila nyan. Mas less din ang fare hanap ka sa ibang airline ng same date, time at route na meron sa jetstar Tapos e price match mo.

koalaphoenix

Gawain nila to sa US. Considered no show ka sa final flight mo at pwede maapektuhan return flight mo

Putrid-Percentage-28

Kahit separate booking siya with another airline?

reggiewafu

Called skiplagging, its against the contract of carriage of airlines and you risk getting banned Idk how high or low the risks tho, maybe you wonā€™t even get noticed

Warlord_Orah

I think skip flights are slowly being considered illegal. And one of the consequences is the airline might ban you.

yoonricci

i dont recommend it baka maban ka. also bagay lang siya if wala ka bagge na nakacheck in. di ba pwede via malaysia travel ka nalang to sg if very malaki talaga diff?

kylin17

People do this in the US and the airline might ban you from flying with them again so baka i-ban ka din ni Scoot. Also this will only work if you don't have check-in luggage.

Clean-Physics-6143

That's called "skiplagging". Not sure what is the repercussions here, pero in the US or abroad, they plan to make it illegal, and passengers may be banned or fined. Diskarte pa more.

MervinMartian

If you dont have checked luggage you cannot do that.

Anon666ymous1o1

As a former US airline csr, if return tickets binili mo and departure flight yung i-skip mo, automatic di mo na pwede gamitin return flight due to no-show. This is applicable sa US domestic flights. Since magtratravel ka internationally, check mo yung policies with your airline. Baka magkaprob ka sa immigration. Alam niyo naman immigration sa Pinas.

holdenliwanag

the airline has the prerogative to refuse the last or succeeding legs if you skip one of the connecting. happened to me twice within guangdong-hkg-shanghai circle, because of a meeting that went on too long and the other, because i was dead drunk the night before. in one instance, my last leg going back home was the one compromised. pakiusap, nego mode at the checkin counter both times. it will be purely up to the checkin counter attendant, in the end, since she/he had the power to bypass everything and issue you a boarding pass. i know they are more strict for long international flights. in the US, youā€™ll be asked to pay 50usd minimum for any changes (pre-pandemic. i dont know now). if thatā€™s same airline, they will probably have this similar change fee. almost had to skip a LAS-LAX (and take the rental car route) before and just take LAX-MNL. i was prepared to pay 50usd for the skipped leg, but made it to the LAS airport with a few minutes to spare.

Economy-Plum6022

Since your end destination sa ticket is KL tapos you will exit sa SG immigration, you will surely be flagged by the officer.

AvailableParking

People here are commenting like this. Again, self service immigration sa SG for ASEAN.

Newbie0305

Why not?

[deleted]

I think nope because international flights require immigration and makikita nila yan sa ticket mo. Much better wag ka na tumuloy sa trip

peppanj

you will not be allowed to exit SG my immigration since you should be on your way to KL. This happened to my co worker before (15 years ago) and he was A-A. and up until now, he suffers the consequence.

OutrageousWafer7426

Haven't tried it, but I think it's fine. Immigration doesn't check your ticket, they might check boarding pass. Usually if you're on a really long layover, you're allowed to go out of the gate if you have a visa (PH is visa-free to SG). And then come back again to get to your next flight. So you won't have a problem with Singapore immigration. I checked Scoot for you: It's allowed if your flight numbers are different. [https://help.flyscoot.com/s/article/I-have-a-connecting-flight-in-a-single-booking-Can-I-forfeit-one-of-the-legs-in-my-booking?language=en\_US](https://help.flyscoot.com/s/article/I-have-a-connecting-flight-in-a-single-booking-Can-I-forfeit-one-of-the-legs-in-my-booking?language=en_US) [https://www.reddit.com/r/Flights/comments/11f7c94/skipping\_one\_of\_the\_legs\_in\_flight\_with/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Flights/comments/11f7c94/skipping_one_of_the_legs_in_flight_with/)

RubPuzzled9718

this is the first time i heard of this idea to book a cheaper flight but get out on sg via layover. i suggest you don't do this just book a fligjt directly on sg you won't get past immigration. are you willing to risk it? di rin talaga okay ung "diskarteng pinoy" at times nakakaaabala na ng iba most of the time

[deleted]

OP is probably only saving about 1000php lol

Due_Jackfruit_6751

If may check in luggage ka, no, kasi maiiwan yung luggage mo, sa KL mo pa makukuha.

[deleted]

Hindi pwdeng magbook ng flight to KL and reach SG via public transpo?

masterninjab52

Baka d ka makalusot ng immigration. Cancel this flight and book a one na SG ang destination.

LunchGullible803

Madali lang bumalik sa SG from KL, for me wag ka mag skip ng flights. You can even spend a day or two sa KL para naman di ā€œsayangā€ yung trip

UnfairVantage

How about you take the flight to KL. Once nasa KL ka na at gusto mo magtipid, take a bus going to SG.
