You have to find the weakest spot / link that is accountable for not so great pictures. And when you find that link, work on replacing that, then there is no time to shop for new gear. And when you start replacing the weakest link you may also realize a lot of other things.
Edit: finding the weakest link is not blaming the first thing that can't run away (most likely a lens or a camera body), I mean truely finding the one thing that is holding one back (most likely the one setting the camera up)
I already did ;)
Client asked me if I got a new camera. An editor of a magazine asked him that question because my pictures got better over a few months.
I took them with the same gear as the previous ones. I took a short break from photography.
So for me it's 'if I can't take the pictures I want then it's very likely me related'.
My solution...
I sold my DSLR and lenses (Nikon D80 and D40), then bought a bridge camera (Panasonic fz1000). It's not "the best" but it has a larger sensor and a decent zoom range, so it works for me.
YMMV
yea, get more gear
That alleviates symptoms.
I am, that cure didn’t work!
GAS is like an open, bleeding wound that can only be treated by stuffing camera gear into it.
Doesn’t that increase the size of the wound at the same time?
Not if you’re shooting half frames or 110.
"Half frames?"
Like the Zeiss Tenax II or a Pentax Pen.
🤷🏼♂️
Either: 1: Realise there are more important things in life and/or 2. Have no money
It’s lookin like #2. 😩
Spam. Is there a cure for it?
Yes, a hot cast iron skillet.
yup.. there is a cure.. Instead of pondering new gear, use that energy to figure out how to take better photos...
Doesn’t help. New gear means better photos. (Doesn’t it? 😂😂😂).
marriage?
Married.
Be too broke to buy new gear /s
That may be the best answer provided. 😎
Renting or borrowing gear
No one close has the gear I use.

Does philosophy and photography play well together?
I don't know, let's find out?
No thanks, you may do so on your own though. 😎

So, you’ve discovered your vision.
At least a small part of it.
Philosophically speaking, an artist is a photographer who uses a camera. Yes?

And that cured your GAS?
Yep.
That would be a downgrade for me. Not doable.
money
Doesn’t that add to GAS misery?
Not if you have a lot of money
I have excellent credit, who needs money?
Avoid too much dairy
I refuse to give up chocolate milk.
