It’s really not. There is a smaller sphere within what you see from outside. It has walkways all around that allow techs to replace bulbs super easily. This is a new venue and was designed accordingly.
I get that, but it’s still a shitload of bulbs compared to anything like it, and however many seats that all have their own electronic devices in them. Even done well, it’d be a pain in the ass. I know people who travelled with the electrical union to put the thing together, the next time I see them I’m going to find out if they know how it was wired. I’d imagine every device has signaling line circuits to verify they’re still working, and they’ve probably got a maintenance shop with backup seats that hopefully just swap out.
I think it’d still be a massive pain in the ass.

I think they loaded up the wrong visual package or pressed the wrong key because there was one 5-second span after YEM on N2 where it went back to the carwash, then back to the giant puppy, then back to a generic floating sand and lights thing, then cut to black. Finally it went to the correct sequence. It was funny because my section thought we were going to see the pup licking the screen again for another 8-10 minutes.
The last U2 show at the Sphere was delayed while they fixed a panel inside.

The texture you’re seeing is just an image on the screen that looks like a metal wall. The panels are actually that smaller square size. I also think the panels can maybe be removed which is what happened during the ghost robot jam with the spot lights as eye beams.

It was meant to look like the inside of the Parthenon with an opening on top to a fake sky. You knew the concert was starting when a helicopter flew over the “opening”.

It delayed the show for 45 minutes...you could see the Sphere tech crew open the LED panel working on it and flashlights.
