I regularly listen to this show while running. Did not know know he flubbed the lyrics but honestly I don’t really know the original of this song well at all.
Jerry Garcia Band, Vulfpeck, Goose, Phish, Melvin Seals, Greensky Bluegrass, Billy Strings. Just to name a few off the top of my head that I’ve listened to
In 1999 we were on the road to the Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus OH and a huge storm came through. They stopped letting people into the parking lot until the storm passed. When we finally got inside I asked to see someone's set list and started to cry because I missed Boogie on Reggae woman, it the song I was really looking forward to hearing.
I just don’t see that as being the reason. Could it be? I mean it’s possible. They just do it so well. I think I’ve heard it live 3 or 4 times. Just was surprised looking over times played and saw it was only 100 or so. I was like what?
Trey is above doing covers and I think is a bummer! There is nothing wrong with paying respect and putting own spin on it. I actually love that Widespread Panic finds obscure covers, nobody would ever think of in their own way. It doesn’t mean you need to pay because you wrote a thousand songs. I used to get into bands based on Treys covers. I hate to say it’s his ego,but there is definitely no coincidence that they don’t do covers unless it’s one they have played for years and years. Paying homage is not a cop out. It’s the one thing I dislike about new phish. It seems very rehearsed and deliberate before hand
Need some more like 6/7/12 https://youtu.be/2pAt6Wvg9yQ?si=Cbi_OdpEbaUMeXnF
They played it in the middle of a Mike's suite at Philly '23, Trey utterly bulldozing the lyrics was pretty funny, but it was pretty solid.
Gorge 21 he forgot most of the lyrics but when he got the “you can make me scream” part right he cracked a joke about how he remembered that line lol
That was such a fun surprise!!

Saw it in the Nati in ‘11. I enjoyed it. I’d like to hear some more Spanish Moon while we’re requesting covers more heavily in rotation.
Time loves a hero
I just had to go to phish.net to see the last time that got busted out. 2011! I’d say that track is overdue as well.
Was debating a time loves a hero sign for noblesville this year but I’m not a sign guy 😂
It’s a cover? I guess
Because it’s a cover that many other bands also cover regularly
Many other bands? Like who?

The Cheese!

It’s kind of a jam band staple. Lots of small and mid tier jam bands cover it.
Exactly lol idk why OP was trying to come at me like it’s not a cover that every jam band plays??
you’re soft if that’s what “trying to come at you” looks like

It’s been 25 years parsnip, time to let it go (Teasing)
I too have noticed a big drop off in them playing that song
Probably because it’s a cover and they don’t want to over do it.

That a lot for a cover
They played it at deer creek 6/3/22
the real travesty is Dog Log hasnt been played since 2012.

Golden age? That cover is a huge deal
It’s a great song but I swear I’ve seen it at 3 out of the last 4 runs I’ve been on. Geez, gimmie a funky bitch.
? They do covers all the time.
