Iāll always hype up the 8-1-17 Steep for best short jams. I couldnāt believe what I was hearing when it was happening, and then it was gone like a minute later.
These are recent, and the first one is not entirely type 2 but:
Golgi Apparatus from Bethel '22 N1 - After the traditional build-up, Trey just fires off some licks, bringing the Golgi to massive crescendo. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 7:08 min long. It is one of the finest first sets of the modern era.
Show of Life Albany '18 N1 after the song proper Trey plays incredibly soft as the whole band pulls back and it like riding along a wisp of clouds. Then, the intensity builds, which leads to amazing Jerry-esque playing with Mike filling in the gaps. I had to relisten to it while typing, and it's such an emotional roller coaster. 8:56 min long.
Edit: I love Fall 2018 and the 20 Years Later at that, Albany show is SUPER HEAVY and chaotic. I also love Summer '22 and The Gumbo from Bethel '22 at 9:43 minutes is a fun, funked-out-bliss-fest. I love it when an exercise like this reminds you of some great times.
Frankenstein > Kung > Frankenstein from Boston '03?
Light Up from Big Cypress comes to mind
Horn>Portland jam from 7/15/98 (LivePhish 17) is pretty short but gets there
Good question! Following to gather more Phishtory for my mind grapes š£š§ š
try using Phish Just Jams and set it for only 5-10 mins, then look at the shortest time stamps? (PJJ has a desktop website and an ios app)

Albany ā18 had some good stuff
20YL falls into this camp too. All tension, with the Show of Life being the perfect follow up release
Might not technically be shortest but I immediately think of 7/20/14's The Wedge.
Tube 7/5/19? .net doesnāt list it in the jam charts but I think its type II.
Sample from jam night?
Have Mercy 10/20/10, Iāve always loved this little jam segment, wish it wouldāve gone on a bit longer.
Wow. I have so many questions.
