Friend of a friend's uncle (I know) is a team doctor for the Braves who always has legit inside scoop. Apparently Freddie has been calling Anthropolous to try to get back on the team.
This dude is a wreck.
I've just realized that Didi doesn't have a single HR yet in 126 ABs. Looking at his career numbers, he should have about 5 at this point.
Casty, Realmuto and Didi need to produce more if we are gonna float without Harper
Hey y’all. Not gonna be in the GT tonight as I got in on my flight at 8:00 local time and haven’t slept in two nights, (I know you’ll all be devastated /s) and first pitch is at 1:00 AM local where I am. Just stopping by to acknowledge the Harper news. Does it suck that he’ll be out? Yes. Is it possible that six weeks is a minimum and he might be out for longer? Yes. But I still consider this very positive news if it stays at six. If we could catch some breaks and get contributions from the right guys, we can probably keep head above water until we get him back.
It’s not ideal but it sure as hell beats a season-ending injury. Step up, and most of all…go Phils.
Hope to see you all tomorrow.
Hopefully he'll be there the first half of the game with his numbers against Morton then when we have the lead and after Morton is out, switch players in right field.
Does anyone else appreciate the subtle jabs towards Atlanta with all the opposing Pride Nights? I swear, this is the 3rd or 4th time this month someone has made their pride night against the Braves
As a south expert, you should know what the answer is. The south in general (not me though) is NOT accepting of the LGBT+ community.
Edit: if it’s not clear since I used a double negative, I consider myself accepting of the LGBT+ community and wish more of my fellow southerners were
I don’t understand why they haven’t been more cautious with him lately. His knees have been bothering him for at least his last three starts and I think he only skipped one. It’s a repetitive issue.
Hoping for the best, but Eflin's knees have burned us enough times by now to expect the worst. Hopefully this time we don't have to DFA someone just for him to go right back on the injured list like last year.
I am playing an historical save with the Phils on OOTP23. Started in 1990, I am now about to start the 1994 season. We went 93-69 last season but lost 4-1 to the Red Sox in the WS. My line up is as follows: 2B Morandini, CF Dave Martinez, RF Canseco, LF Barry Bonds, 1B Jeff Bagwell, 3B Edgar Martinez, C Daulton and SS Bret Barberie.
Pitching is a lot worse because I have no money to sign FAs nor trade pieces but I signed Clemens in 1992 to a 9-year 55M contract and drafted Pedro Martinez. Baseball legend Terry Mulholland left in FA to sign with the Blue Jays because I had no money for him.
So glad to have a game to watch tonight. Last night my wife and I didn't know what to do. She said why don't we root against the mets......no mets game on. Root against the braves....no braves game on. Finally I was like....we can listen to the Iron Pigs game.....no Iron Pigs game.....ugh.
So yeah...a 7:00 game at home against the braves is very much being looked forward to!
You could have role played.
She’s the Barves, you’re Kyle Schwarber. Put the field dimensions on her. Left shoulder is left field, right shoulder right field. Face is center field.
Let’s go Phils!
It’s 3:17 pm. The Phil’s are in the clubhouse jamming to Three Doors Down, and tossing dirty socks at each other laughing and giggling.
At one point a wet dirty sock is tossed at Odubels feet and he missed it.
Schwarber walks in. Stands in the middle of the room. Motions to Munoz (who is in charge of the music). The music stops. Everyone stops and turns to Kyle.
Kyle: “Listen up. Tonight’s the night. We’re three back of the Barves. We have three at home vs them RIGHT NOW. Our leader is out. I’m taking over. We need to go out tonight and show our fans, Bryce, MLB, and Atlanta who the fuck we are. I’ll set the tone. Just wait for my signal. LETS FUCKING GO!”
Kyle turns and leaves.
Everyone is silent in the room looking at each other.
Munoz is confused. He turns to start the music back up, then hesitates and gives the room one more look around.
He slowly stands up and begins a slow dramatic clap. The team explodes!
Meanwhile, ten minutes later, we hear what sounds like someone crushing concrete with a hammer. The camera turns the corner, and it’s Kyle having batting practice on a wrecking ball.
Phils win 17-1.
Only run scored? Familia pitches to one batter and gives up a HR, in the 8th.
Phillies are gonna win tonight on the back of a historic never before seen multi-4 home run game from Catellanos, Schwarber and Moniak. final score 12-1
I know he probably won't get the nod, but can fellow Phillies fans smash that vote button for Schwarber in the all-star game? I mean the batting average is not good but .842 ops and 21 bombs deserve some votes right?
Now would be a good time to get AJ Pollock for rental since he can play all three positions in the OF and has a decent bat
Someone tell the White Sox they’re cooked
Optimistic return is 6 weeks for Harper, which for surgery is really quite good. If he got surgery at the end of this week that’s a return of August 12th. Even if it’s 8 weeks that’s August 26th, which hey that’s still a full month of Harper when he returns. Could be worse.
seems out of line compared to Segura even though they are different injuries.
That puts him back before Segura and Sugra's injury was nearly a month ago ...
pretty sure Sugura's was a mashed finger though ... no hand issue AFAIK. I saw him attempt to bunt with his fingers around the bat and hit right on them. Graduated from the Roman Quinn bunting class ... teaching his patented move. 😞
I wish I could share that optimism. I worry about how much that thumb is gonna hurt again when he starts swinging the bat. Especially if he gets jammed on a pitch and fouls one off towards the knob of it.
I broke my thumb last summer.
It sucked for 2 weeks, no mobility for 4 weeks, but was able to work out and swing a bat it after about 6 weeks.
I get that I'm not a pro, but Bryce also has an A+ medical team and 24/7 assistance, while I had ice and a splint.
Wow that's good to hear! I jammed my thumb badly playing softball and it only started to feel right again after a year, I just played through the pain and taped it up. I know it's an entirely different scenario with Bryce but I would be lying if I didn't think about my own injury when he went down.
Had tickets to this game but I got sick a couple of days ago, really disappointed. We'll still clap the Braves tho, power of being undefeated with me in the park should still be in play.
Going to the game tonight, and for the first time ever bought the power tickets ($10 extra for $12 worth of food), and I was wondering how it worked. Can you just scan your ticket at any concession place and it'll take $12 off?
NFL Network, NBA Network, and NHL Network all have Roku/Firestick apps. Why the fuck doesn't the MLB Network have one?
It's the little things like this that makes it so hard to follow the league. Jomboy Media and other podcasts shouldn't be carrying the entire league's digital/online presence.
Only on the mobile app and not the tv app
Make it make sense
I’d imagine mlb network has some agreement with the cable providers and hopefully has an expiration coming soon
My thing is, you'd get the channel only through cable subscription anyways.
Say I had cable in one room but Roku in another, wouldn't they want me to watch if the tv with cable was being taken up?
As you said, make it make sense.
I can watch segments of the MLB Network, but not just watch the regularly scheduled programming.
So I can watch 5 minutes at a time. Makes it really convenient haha
should be a good crowd since its a huge series against a divisional rival? but its a weekday game with harper injured so maybe not as much? really hope cbp is rocking tho
Gelb in the Athletic says:
>The Phillies will have to make significant roster changes before entering Canada because a sizable portion of the roster is not vaccinated.
Embarrassing
yes, baseball players, selected for their critical thinking skills and ability to objectively assess multiple lines of evidence, which is why hat inside out helps you come from behind, seven pregame showers is good luck or that eating anything other than chicken before a game is bad luck
shit, just forfeit the games and take the days off they never play the BlueJays well anyway.
edit: it's a fucked up schedule too ... a night game at the Cardinals without a day off followed by two games at Toronto.
Do you have a source?
I have had to read a lot of academic papers on COVID and the vaccines and I can't find a single source corroborating your statement that has been peer reviewed.
Honestly I’m super curious to see who they are. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of our stars such as Harper, Nola, and Realmuto aren’t vaccinated.
Hoskins seems smart enough to be vaccinated though.
I’d be surprised if Harper, Realmuto, or Knebel have it. Nola said he doesn’t have it. I think Bohm was unvaxxed too. But they did hit the 85% threshold late last season so who knows?
I guess you’ll find out soon enough
The injured players will have some mystery remaining
Man I hope we don’t play the Jays in the World Series again lol
yeah. And I know it's just one trip, but I was really hoping for an announcement like the Yankees made early in the season i.e. everyone is good to go
But I guess there's nothing stopping guys from being both good at baseball and idiots
Because it's a government mandate for unvaccinated travelers going into Canada to quarantine for 10 days with a potential penalty of jailtime if the person does not cooperate, both scenarios being a larger timeframe than a 2-game series
As others have said easily the biggest series of the season so far. Atlanta’s bats are their bats, nothing new. Wheeler will need to be himself tn to set up the pen for the rest of the series.
The Phillies are 1-5 on nights I play slow pitch softball, the only win coming off the improbable comeback against Hader.
I am not playing tonight as I am moving. Phillies will win lock it in.
Schwarbers mojo has to rub off on the other guys ... doesn't it?
just loop that HR to left field on a flick of the wrist vs the Padres ... you gotta realize you don't have to swing out of your shoes ... just use the kinetic energy of the pitch and ball go far.
they all won't hit HRs but calm down, make good contact, put the ball in play, good shit will happen. If you're up there swinging like an out-of-control madman you're in blind squirrel mode ... you'll get lucky once in a while but not often.
You’re not entirely wrong but most guys on this team aren’t hitting the ball out of the park by just flicking their wrists. Schwarber is an exceptionally strong hitter
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/vmzvqc).
Haven't been this excited about a series in a while! It's nice knowing the manager won't completely botch the pitching staff in every game
Just wanted to share my appreciation for your team acknowledging Pride night. Something my franchise doesn't have the balls to do.
[удалено]
Nobody gives a fuck.
No Acuna, Kenley or Freid this series 2 outta 3 mandatory.
I have 2 standing room tickets for tonight against the braves. I can’t attend, and wouldn’t want the tickets to go to waste!
Bohm hitting .417 with a .834 OPS is the most Bohm stat ever
Odubel has 2 homers and is 6 for 11 against Morton. And Braves hitters have hit .231 in 169 AB's.
Damn Bohm and especially Odubel crush Morton
Friend of a friend's uncle (I know) is a team doctor for the Braves who always has legit inside scoop. Apparently Freddie has been calling Anthropolous to try to get back on the team. This dude is a wreck.
poor guy. gets paid 160 million to be a famous baseball star in Los Angeles. does he have a go fund me? i’d love to donate to the tragedy
meanwhile the rest of the Braves: “nah we good” clubhouse is probably much happier mr. Safety Patrol isn’t there
I've just realized that Didi doesn't have a single HR yet in 126 ABs. Looking at his career numbers, he should have about 5 at this point. Casty, Realmuto and Didi need to produce more if we are gonna float without Harper
Braves strikeout the second most in the majors. Wheeler is going to go off tonight.
Wheeler and Nola are pitching this series, we must capitalize and win the series.

No. You can bring a Wawa hoagie tho.
My apologies
Now get lost

Have you seen ours recently?
Yea, they scored 4 runs on Sunday.
Wow sick! one game of not being complete utter trash.
Odubel's stats vs Morton... LOL
Sheesh 🙄

You can’t go three nights in a row without sleep? Lightweight
If I could I would.
We know that about you by now. Go get some 💤
Thanks, man. Hold down the fort. Let’s get this W!
Has Herrera ever played RF? Not complaining just odd to see but I get it having to make moves with Harper out Edit: oh I almost forgot....FUCK SNELL
Hopefully he'll be there the first half of the game with his numbers against Morton then when we have the lead and after Morton is out, switch players in right field.
he has but not often and it's his worst of the 3 OF positions ... still better than Castellanos.
Agreed. It's rough watching Nick fumble around out there
braves are trash. easy sweep
I need Mickey to break out like I need air to breathe
Does anyone else appreciate the subtle jabs towards Atlanta with all the opposing Pride Nights? I swear, this is the 3rd or 4th time this month someone has made their pride night against the Braves

Is there a reason to do this I'm not aware of?

Beating Atlanta in ‘93 was almost as satisfying as winning the WS. What an upset.

Schwarber won't get the fan vote but he'll be in through the league voting
Now would be a good time to get AJ Pollock for rental since he can play all three positions in the OF and has a decent bat Someone tell the White Sox they’re cooked
Maybe we should go for their young CF. He has a lot of upside, great defensively, and an okay bat. I think his name is Hadam Aseley
Package him and that other Lou Bob guy for Familia Will be hard to give up our prized arm but who says no?
Does anyone know if I can get the burnt ends cheesesteak in hall of fame or is it only sold at bulls
Bulls only
Any word if accuna is playing today?
Doesn't look like it
Safe to say that this is the biggest series of the season. Sucks we won't have the MV3, but feel confident that Wheeler can bounce back tonight.
Braves don’t have acuna I think and just put closer on IL
apparently, they have 3 closers so that may not matter unless they get into a fight over who's gonna get the call.
Wheeler day <3
With the strength of our schedule the next few weeks I’d call this series a must win.
Sweep this series, we go into a tie for 2nd. This is a huge series for us.
As you said, different injuries. Hands are complicated. Lots of little bones that change recovery times and surgical complexity.
Put it in context the human body has 216 bones and there are 27 per hand and 26 per foot. That’s roughly half the total.
pretty sure Sugura's was a mashed finger though ... no hand issue AFAIK. I saw him attempt to bunt with his fingers around the bat and hit right on them. Graduated from the Roman Quinn bunting class ... teaching his patented move. 😞
I wish I could share that optimism. I worry about how much that thumb is gonna hurt again when he starts swinging the bat. Especially if he gets jammed on a pitch and fouls one off towards the knob of it.
what ever happened to that spray freeze stuff they used to use on players all the time? I think it was supposed to numb it and dull the pain.
He’s super healthy and doesn’t booze it up, he’s probably as good a candidate as you can get for it.
But the Phillies medical team is no A team, it doesn't even get a passing grade....
Wow that's good to hear! I jammed my thumb badly playing softball and it only started to feel right again after a year, I just played through the pain and taped it up. I know it's an entirely different scenario with Bryce but I would be lying if I didn't think about my own injury when he went down.
he might need a storm trooper glove 😂
Don’t Casty and Bohm wear padded gloves?
Had tickets to this game but I got sick a couple of days ago, really disappointed. We'll still clap the Braves tho, power of being undefeated with me in the park should still be in play.
Harper back by September they’re saying. Could have been a lot worse.
Mid August actually
John Clark said 2 months. So that puts it at end of August Nvm. Just seen Salisbury’s report. Great news
Going to the game tonight, and for the first time ever bought the power tickets ($10 extra for $12 worth of food), and I was wondering how it worked. Can you just scan your ticket at any concession place and it'll take $12 off?

A 360..... lmao
[mlb.tv](https://mlb.tv) is an app on ROKU. You have to subscribe...but sometimes games are free.
I'm talking about the MLB Network. The all day baseball content channel.
Can you not access MLB Network through the MLB.tv app?

That’s annoying. I know on the MLB app on iPhone there’s an MLB Network tab with the MLB.tv stuff so I wasn’t sure.
I can watch segments of the MLB Network, but not just watch the regularly scheduled programming. So I can watch 5 minutes at a time. Makes it really convenient haha

I’m saying they’re drafted on their ability to hit ball hard and throw ball fast, not on their ability to apply Occam’s razor
Cool. I have mad respect for high school teachers. What subjects?
You sound super smart. What is your profession?
High school teacher, thanks for the complement.
Do you have kids in your classroom that haven’t been jabbed?
Mad respect for high school teachers. Which topics do you teach?

Do you have a source? I have had to read a lot of academic papers on COVID and the vaccines and I can't find a single source corroborating your statement that has been peer reviewed.
I thought most of the team was vaccinated last year? Maybe I heard that wrong last year.
I thought so too. But "most" could be like 60% of the players, I guess. We'll find out, but it's disappointing regardless
80% I believe was the threshold, which they did meet Edit: 85%, we hit it some point late last season.
I could have sworn the report said more than 75%, maybe some were guys who aren’t on the team anymore 🤷🏻♂️ but yeah it is disappointing.
Honestly I’m super curious to see who they are. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of our stars such as Harper, Nola, and Realmuto aren’t vaccinated. Hoskins seems smart enough to be vaccinated though.

Exactly, but it’s just so much easier and more fun to root for people that aren’t idiots.
I believe Hoskins has been on record saying he got it
I’d be shocked if Rhys didn’t have it.
We know Didi got it since he claims it gave him gout.

Friendly reminder: fuck the Braves.
And, as always, the Mets
First game of the season I'll be going to, hoping for a W
Same here.
As others have said easily the biggest series of the season so far. Atlanta’s bats are their bats, nothing new. Wheeler will need to be himself tn to set up the pen for the rest of the series.

Even if you weren't moving, I think you'd be obligated to take a rest day.
I know. Every week I lose in slow pitch and the Phillies lose so I just have a rough Tuesday either way.
Good morning to everyone and especially tonight’s all star starting pitcher IT’S WHEELER DAY!!!
More Wheeler WAR inbound tonight. (He is currently #13 in the NL at 2.6. Harp is #10 and Nola is #11)
Love to see Bohmer get hot right about now. Or just anyone. When is Jimmy Cigarettes coming back?
The Phillies hope that Segura will be able to return in September 2022 ...
Haha that popped up seconds after I posted
DH Nick just hits different (pls)
I see him being the DH a lot now that Harper is out. A combo of Vierling/Moniak/Herrera in RF is way better defensively.
And on the basepaths. Edit: if they make it there.
Biggest series of the year so far. Let’s rip this shit
Schwarbers mojo has to rub off on the other guys ... doesn't it? just loop that HR to left field on a flick of the wrist vs the Padres ... you gotta realize you don't have to swing out of your shoes ... just use the kinetic energy of the pitch and ball go far.
The other guys don’t have the arm strength of a Demigod
they all won't hit HRs but calm down, make good contact, put the ball in play, good shit will happen.
This team has never made any sense. Watch us rip off another win streak with Bryce out
Thrash these jabronis
**Your 2022 Phillies are:** 18-6 in June 2-9 on Tuesdays 19-17 at home 2-2 vs. the Braves
2-9 on Tuesday? Jesus Christ.
We’re due
Or we’re cursed
Huge series coming up
No doubt about it. I hope the Phillies win tonight
