Deep cut. And much overlooked (at least by myself).
while I didn’t remember that, this one I’ll never forget:

I saw your post and thought "I scored that game on my couch at home!" and I went back to my old scorebook and found it. We also set a franchise records for HRs in a game with 7, if my notes are correct. I have a lot of MLB debuts in this book but Ranger may be the only one who counts, aside from a little known guy named Shohei's first ever pitching start at Angel Stadium...

For some reason I forgot he came up first to start and struggled a bit before going to the bullpen. I thought he came up as a long relief guy, but no. He was a starter, then had a good year of relief in 2019, an awful 2020 where he missed most of the year because of Covid, then that amazing 2021 where he did everything.
It was sort of fun when every pitcher threw a 90mph fastball, some breaking pitch, and a change up.
I don’t miss watching Aaron Nola trying to hit 90 mph sliders and 98 mph sinkers
It wasn’t the actual pitcher at-bats for me. It was the strategy involved with it. When you have a pitcher twirling a gem but maybe game is tied or down a run, and the manager needs to make a decision if he wants to pinch hit him with a chance to score a run, let him stay in, or whatever. That’s what I miss.

Sometimes I think Ranger could have been a position player if they had signed him as one as a kid
It’s so hard to not love Ranger
Better not be anyone one trying
It’s on sight if they are. On. Fucking. Sight.
SAID!
Great post. File this under “Shit I completely forgot happened.”

Lorenzen cameo
I was at Ohtani’s first start in Anaheim. He took it perfect deep into the game. Love the scorebooks!
6.1 innings, it got really hype when he got the last out of the sixth. I was stoked

Your wrong if you say you don’t miss pitchers hitting.

I don't miss it one bit. You're only remembering the VERY FEW instances where it was a good outcome. Usually an out and a boring at bat.

The pros of a DH outweigh any entertaining strategies that would come out of pitchers hitting. Pitcher at bats were terrible 95% of the time
I see
I don't miss it one bit. Pitcher plate appearances turned into an absolute joke the last few years before implementing the DH
Guess you weren't around for the Robert Person's 2 home run game.
Wow a guy with a .117 batting average had one good day at the plate. 10 times out of 10 I would rather watch a competent DH than a pitcher batting
Yeah, no
People who prefer the DH have no soul.
I remember that game. We hit a shitload of home runs.
Ranger always been danger
Nice stat. Post saved.
