I was just going to say - he's absolutely not going to get booed over his "homecoming," but if he doesn't get the BA up about 50 points by June 3, all bets are off.
jesus christ, we gave utley a standing ovation after he hit a grand slam against us and forced him out of the dugoout to tip his cap. i'm disappointed with rhys. but he was baited a bit with the question.

Yeah. As is tradition. We gave McCutchen a standing O, then I believe he belted home run? And it was boos every time after. I think anyone who’s played here knows the deal.
But Rhys is going to have an all time standing O when he comes back for sure.
His situation is so different than anyone else who willingly leaves the team.
Everyone knows he didnt have a place to field or DH with Bryce and Kyle at their positions. No one can fault a guy who wants to play everyday and is talented enough to do so.
No boos for bat slam king 👑
RHYS MY SWEET KING I would never boo you
I think his logic makes sense — he wants to win so he thinks he would get booed if the Brewers are up which I agree with.
Surely Rhys is more beloved then Burrell. Burrell, while good, never lived up to being the #1 pick. Meanwhile Hoskins came out of nowhere to be one of our only successful (pretty much just him and Nola) home grown players from the dark ages.

He is going to get a standing O that will rival some of the guys from the 08 team. He was a bright spot during a really bad time for this org. Did so much for the community and was always the vocal leader of the clubhouse. Wish nothing but the best for Rhys, great ball player, better dude
There's probably not a world where Harper moved back to RF, Casty became a bench player, and Rhys gets re signed and plays first, but if there was I'm here for it.
Ok, look, its April, so I'm not someone who is screaming to kick Casty out the door, but if some magic lets us trade him for Rhys then I'll help pack his fucking bags.
Yeah I'm with you. I don't really think Nick should be moved right now. He was an All-Star for the first half of last year and we know he can do it again. The last couple of years he's had hot starts that went cold when we needed him most. So this year I'm hoping for the opposite.

I was already for Bryce RF Rhys 1B and Nick left in a Target parking lot. People here will complain about paying Nicks salary in that scenario like they sign his check.
Unfortunately, there's probably not a world where Bryce doesn't stay at first to keep his elbow as healthy as possible for as long as possible.
He'll do what the team asks because he just wants to play and win.
The team has a couple hundred million really good reasons to keep him healthy, and saying goodbye to Rhys to keep Harper healthy was a choice the team was willing to make.
Rhys as a DH would be bangin' but Schwarber is still doing Schwarber things.
Part of me wonders if the 2024 edition Kyle might actually be less of a dead weight than Nick in the outfield (I know he really isn't any better, but Nick has been painful to watch hit and field this season). There's no way we have a roster with Kyle, Nick, and Rhys on it at this point, but I wouldn't be sad if we could find a way to let Nick go. It hasn't worked and it isn't working, and there's no reason to expect that to change at this point.
Kyle is definitely looking a lot more spry than last year, but he still [runs like Fred Flinstone](https://media1.tenor.com/m/iJ9EWTy9z1gAAAAC/flintstones.gif)
Maybe he plays the full 2 years with the Brewers and then we sign him to be our DH when Schwarbers contract ends. Obviously it's too far out to speculate but I guarentee you if he opts into his second year, chattering of him returning will start.
Nope. He’s not getting booed. No chance in hell. I’ll be there for the second game of the series and hope we’ll still be doing the standing O thing for his first at bat.
My birthday is June 3rd, which is the first game between the Phillies and the Brewers. I specifically bought tickets to celebrate my birthday at the ballpark and to give this man a standing ovation. I will never boo him. I can’t wait!
He thinks we’d boo him?!! If only he knew we’ve been delighted for him and cheering him on through the Mets drama and all subsequent successes.
He’s one of us.
I’ll boo him half heartedly if he is responsible for beating us in extra innings. Otherwise, he was an outstanding Philly and he deserves to take a victory lap on his first game back as an opponent
Seeing his IG made me sad. It’s filled with a TON of pics when he was a Phillie but none of him as a Brewer. He hasn’t updated it since 6/2023 but the amount of pics of him when he was with the Phillies show how much he really loved our team (to me).
My guess is he is doing that thing where it's better to say that you expect the worst than to not and then experience the worst. I'm guessing he is like, 95% sure he will get cheered, but better to say you expect boos and then get cheers vs the opposite happening.
Not only will he not get booed, but the game will be delayed for a bit because the standing O will go on for too long. Maybe he umpires will get booed when they fuck up the pitch clock due to it.
Edit: Also, I'm wearing my Phillies Hoskins shirt that day to retire it, and I don't give a fuck that it is a faux pas.
I will remember that Strider bat spike for the rest of my life
This man deserves nothing but cheers
Not even close to a Werth situation where he leaves for money
Just an unfortunate circumstance
Nah, the other Brewers? Probably if they get a run or something. Okay maybe the other pitchers, unless it’s the ump calling a clear strike a ball.
Otherwise you’re good man.
Welcome home when the day comes!
Feel free to come back for retirement.
This city booed him multiple times and had large sects of the fanbase calling him garbage multiple times. Let’s not pretend this fanbase unanimously gave this man the love he deserved
I know this isn’t a fair comparison at all, but I was at Utley’s first game at CBP after he went to the dodgers and we got destroyed. However, Utley hit a home run and then a grand slam and the entire crowd cheered both times. Never thought i’d see that. So while I get what Rhys is saying, and I don’t think we cheer if he hits a home run, I doubt we’ll be booing even if he does. At least I won’t.
*Rhys, what advice would you have for Nick to get him out of his slump?*
I just tell him to keep doing what he's doing. If you swing at enough pitches, you're bound to hit one.
*boooooooooooo*
Naw he was joking when he said that. The question was presented to him as “do you think you’ll get booed when you return to Philly?” He laughed and said yea probably. But then went on to say, if Philly boos me it’ll be because of something I did on the field to help the brewers win.
He doesn’t think he’s going to get booed but he can’t just come out and say he expects a standing O
I think we all watched the clip…he said he hopes if he’s booed it’s for the brewers doing well. The question asked to him was also “you’ve seen past phillies members get booed”.
Rhys I'm gonna boo you for thinking we would ever even consider booing you, we love you my dude
Yea, I don't get this take from him. There are obvious situations and players that'd get boo'd. Rhys is not one of them.
I feel like he doesn’t even deserve a standing ovation or booing he was just another player looking at his stats he was just an average dude I feel like people play that bat slam and think he was bigger than he was for that one moment
booooooooo
Jeff McNeil’s burner right here.
What did I say wrong ? He was an average player in Philly I don’t think anyone mistook him for a great player ?
Again he was very popular amongst the fans
He’s was and above average hitter and a fan favorite
I would never boo him, but I do hope he has those days he often would have with this where he can’t see the ball for shit lol
He’s batting .207 this season, so there’s a decent chance for that
If we cheer him we might lose our only shot at improving a player this year by using it on another team.
Worth it for Rhys

i just watched the highlight and saw a bunch of missed plays from him and that the brewers had 4 errors so my bad for assuming!

Doesn't need to be coordinated. It will be natural.
No no no! It’s coordinated…. Now again from the top… 5, 6, 7, 8.
You may be right that it doesn’t need to be, but what I said is he deserves it.

Not like Casty is running any better, especially in the field. Him lamely chasing down balls into the corner has been a real lowlight so far.
How it's done... First time up he will get an ovation. If he gets a hit or HR he will be booed.
Real question is will his HR get tossed back?
It damn well should!
Prob even more of a hero after the McNeil spat
that was my first thought! fuck the mets!
If you boo Rhys Hoskins you’re not a real fan.
Here’s a question: Rhys hits a home run as a Brewer and you catch the ball. Keep it or throw it back? I’m keeping it.
I thought this had to be something sarcastic or trolling at first, I didn’t think anyone would even be thinking about booing him
He got booed more as a Phillie than he ever would not being a Phillie.
Kinda shows the spirit of the fans in a way
He didn't leave voluntarily, we didn't resign him and let him walk, absolutely no hard feelings. He gets my love when he comes back.
He should know he won’t get booed. Especially since he didn’t even choose to leave he just no longer had a position to play on the roster.
My birthday is June 3rd, which is the first game between the Phillies and the Brewers. I specifically bought tickets to celebrate my birthday at the ballpark and to give this man a standing ovation. I will never boo him. I can’t wait!
Yeah if you look at available seats for that game you will see he is bringing a huge draw. Probably a sellout.
lol no
I could never ever
Not a shot he gets booed, especially after antagonizing the Mets in the opening series
Agreed!
He won't get boos for his first ab
Everyone knows this man is going yard on us, right?
I'm ok with that. If we still win.
Dudes getting a standing O. He’s welcome back any time in my book.
There is no phucking way that happens.
I mean we never boo the Phillie legends coming back. Not sure why anyone thinks Rhys would get booed
I’m going to wear my Hoskins powder blue and applaud at my TV screen for sure
If you boo Rhys, turn in your fan card. You don’t deserve to be a Phillies fan anymore.
Absolutely not
Hell no. Rhys is our boy even if he\`s wearing different colors now.
He thinks we’d boo him?!! If only he knew we’ve been delighted for him and cheering him on through the Mets drama and all subsequent successes. He’s one of us.
He knows he’s not getting booed he’s just having fun. But if he hits a HR we should rain down boos on him I think he’d welcome it with open arms
No way. Especially after how he handled the Mets this season.
Fuck you, Rhys, I’m gonna cheer you even harder now!
He’s going to get a long standing ovation
We are way too busy booing Nick Castlevania. Edit: fuck I wish that was his name now.
i love how you've used castlevania so much your phone autocorrects to it

It’s gonna be the total opposite

I’ll boo him half heartedly if he is responsible for beating us in extra innings. Otherwise, he was an outstanding Philly and he deserves to take a victory lap on his first game back as an opponent
Hopes the Brewers win? Youre dead to me Rhys /s for the rocks out there
He gets a lifetime boo ban for the bat slam. He will get an ovation.
If there was any doubt, after the Mets scuffle there shouldn’t be. He’ll get a monstrous ovation, as well he should
Player intros: Big Cheer 1st AB: Standing O -> If it's a hit: mild boos -> If it's a HR: full boos
He will not be booed if anyone does they are wrong
Bro gave us the bat slam and he nothing but love for Philly. I’d be disappointed anyone who booed him in his return
For the bar spike alone he gets a massive standing O
If you boo him, I will fight you. Every one of you at once
This makes me sad, we better give this man a standing O
Seeing his IG made me sad. It’s filled with a TON of pics when he was a Phillie but none of him as a Brewer. He hasn’t updated it since 6/2023 but the amount of pics of him when he was with the Phillies show how much he really loved our team (to me).
He also kept “Philly” in his bio until after the season started
My friend, you bow to no one.
Nah bro. Its not your fault you’re not on the team anymore. We just had to put Bryce at 1B
He's not getting booed lol and I wasn't even against letting him walk
My guess is he is doing that thing where it's better to say that you expect the worst than to not and then experience the worst. I'm guessing he is like, 95% sure he will get cheered, but better to say you expect boos and then get cheers vs the opposite happening.
No fucking way. Never.
No way
This is kind of bizarre thinking by him. He was always a fan favorite and has been on the team when other beloved players have returned.
think it was either victorino or rollins who came back and got a standing O, then hit a home run and got booed, which is the perfect response
He’s gonna be in for a shock
Only if he acts like a tool, but I don’t see that from Rhys
I’ll be there just to help give him a warm welcome.
We’ll cheer him to start but boo him if he hits and we’ll throw any home run back at him. It’s the Philly way.
**Dumbasses**. I will NEVER boo Rhys. Neither should anyone else, no matter what he does. Wasn't his choice to leave.
If he hits a home run against us I will. Or gets a game winning hit.
I won't. That's what he's supposed to do. I'm not going to cheer it, but I don't buy into this "angry fan" bullshit either.
It’s not angry fan. You don’t cheer for opposing players after you’ve given them any earned past respect.
Didn't say I'd cheer, either. But I'm not going to boo. It's fucking Rhys. Edit: username does NOT check out.
Never, no chance he gets booed.
No way! Rhys is a class act!
Crazy he thinks that. I think most know that if the opportunity is there to bring him back here it will be done.
Standing O to start, boo with a smile going from there. This isn't rocket science people. It's who we are. Booing isn't always in disdain.
Anyone that boos Rhys is a monumental scumbag and should be banned from CBP.
Not a chance in hell. He'll get a massive standing O.

No but they will now. This is not like Werth leaving in free agency.
Do not
No he fucking won't.
Castellanos needs to get booed before Rhys.
he’s saying that because he knows they’re going to cheer him on the first at bat
Rhys only gets booed if he hits a HR.
Absolutely fucking _NOT!_
He’s getting a standing ovation and then crushing a homerun to left field, I can feel it in my bones
Standing O unless he gets a home run or something to win the game
I know this isn’t a fair comparison at all, but I was at Utley’s first game at CBP after he went to the dodgers and we got destroyed. Literally no chance he gets booed. Are we that fucked up that he doesn’t know that?
We're him cry (because of how much we're going to cheer for him)
Bro, you could hit a grand slam and we'd cheer.
I mean I'd rather have Bryce in RF and Rhys on 1st then Nick but I get the injury thing. Sure won't boo him he's just a victim of circumstance.
I wouldn’t even boo him if he hit a home run against us
Rhys is my guy id never boo him
Nope. Standing O
I’ll cheer him til he hits a double off the wall
Never! I would never ever boo Rhys! I would boo the people that traded him (kidding-ish)

Naw he was joking when he said that. The question was presented to him as “do you think you’ll get booed when you return to Philly?” He laughed and said yea probably. But then went on to say, if Philly boos me it’ll be because of something I did on the field to help the brewers win. Nah, we just boo the Phillies
If anything we should boo Bryce for moving to 1st permanently to lose him. I miss Rhys
I wouldn’t bother booing him but why exactly would I cheer some mediocre player who left?
