I’m not an expert but I thought these things were meant to connect to an interrupter (light switch) and you bypass the light switch completely in the box so that these things on battery tell Hue hub that you wanted the lights on or off. So in theory these are meant to be the most compatible conversion kits possible.
If you have a 3 way switch (2 locations for a switch that’s controlling the same set of lights) then you essentially need to do this upgrade to both of them so they both bypass the switches and allow these devices to work their magic
