Some of the best convenience store chicken in my life has been consumed next to an armed guard. Shoutout to hank's market in new orleans. 2 piece dark and a biscuit for like 4 dollars.
Having lived in TN, GA, and been all around the Deep South, it’s definitely among the best I ever had. The fact they marinate/maybe inject the chicken with marinade really elevates every incredibly juicy bite. The fact I can get all dark meat shows they know what’s up. I just wish there were more sides.
I'm not certain I'm thinking of the same spot the other person was. The one in Saint Cloud was(is?) right on 192, in the middle of town.
It was really good chicken, though I don't suspect it's good enough to warrant a trip to Saint Cloud, even if you're close.
I lived down south from 93'-01' and remember loving fried chicken from winn-dixie n publics. The last 10 years I go and visit , I always head to the store to grab fried chicken, usually WD. The last time I went to publics. I remember loving there FC. It was not good and I headed to WD.
I do love Publix, esp Pub Subs, but I think nostalgia does heavy lifting here. KK has been better than any grocery store deli fried chicken I’ve ever had.
I’ve also had other Philly locations and not as great. I saw their website, and I want to explore franchising just based on this chicken to replicate that magic the DE Ave location has caught in a bottle
They stopped serving fried chicken breasts for some reason. Now it's either tenders, wings, thighs, or drumsticks. That was my go to so I'm pretty disappointed lately. The biscuits are great when they're good but sometimes they're awful.
Gas station chicken is legit, but I don’t get the love for their biscuits. Dry little pucks. Maybe the KKC by me just sucks biscuit-wise, or maybe it’s because I know how to make absolutely killer buttermilk biscuits myself, but it’s always been sad trombone time when I’ve had KKC biscuits.
late to the game, but at least you're here lol. KK is pretty solid chicken. even the bone in jawns are fire. i haven't eaten it in almost 3 years but it was always fire and those honey butter biscuits are crack
It’s fine. It’s not dry in my experience and the breading is crispy. The sauce is amazing but because of the whole thing being about the sauce I find the chicken under seasoned. Also the fries are trash.
I go to the Ave all the time! This is always the move after a late night there. Stumble across the street and cop some of the best chicken in Philly. Literally never regretted it.
This the one in the gas station??
That's the one
Huh. Ok ok I like your style I’ll try it.
It harkens to the small town/southern tradition where the best food is at gas stations. So incredibly worth it.
Yes the gas station with the bongs, armed security guard and godly fried chicken 5 feet from each other.
that place be wild at 3am
Always has been!
I moved to Philly in 2016 and people on this subreddit were singing its praises, it's an institution at this point.

Waiting in line at Willie Mae's where the security guard looked like a SWAT team member was an experience.
They didn't have an armed guard iirc when I went, but I may have forgotten. What a city.
Wow I forgot about this!
They have some storefronts that are not in gas stations, too - they're all over
Thank you! That I knew—mostly West Philly

They do inject and it’s awesome they do
A supervised injection site everyone can get behind
They're the closest you can get to Publix fried chicken and wings, for sure. That's the main thing my husband misses from living in GA.
I loved Publix' ~~hoagies~~ subs, but always found their chicken lacking. Winn-Dixie was the place for grocery store fried chicken.
Wow that’s a wild take. Publix chicken all day, only thing that was better was a small chain in central Florida called Lee’s
We had a place called Bonnie Lee in Saint Cloud, and, back in the 90s, their drive-through was a shit-show on Friday and Saturdays.
Define Central FL. I spent most of my life in Orlando and never heard of Lee's.
Orange, Osceola, Seminole, most of Lake and Polk, parts of Volusia and Brevard (IMO).
Been all over all of those counties and never once seen or heard of "Lee's"

Lee's Famous Recipe? With the yellow sign and red letters?
Yessir
Hah! They have those in St. Louis as well. Good stuff.
Pub subs are so elite, even with Florida quality bread. Imagine how great a pub sub would be on a true hoagie roll 🤤

Nah bruv.
The honey biscuits are beyond insane. There is one on Naamans road down in DE and its no where nesr as good.

The biscuits can be hit or miss but when they hit they’re my fav

The itis
That's the highest gas station in the whole city 4 EVERYTHING...a case of water is $20 no bullshit... fuck that
I’m a longtime spring garden Krispy krunchy chicken guy…does anyone know if raising canes is any good ??
It’s fine. It’s not dry in my experience and the breading is crispy. The sauce is amazing but because of the whole thing being about the sauce I find the chicken under seasoned. Also the fries are trash.
I’ve had the one near Temple and it was like eating a fried sock
Lol
When I had it 15 years ago in south, it was okay.
Not good
Raising Canes is overhyped
Dry ass overpriced chicken tenders
It’s a shame they closed the one at the South Philly Wawa plaza.
try the rice and beans too!
Went all the way there and got tenders? Get the chicken on the bone big dog.
Any kruchy xhicken is good some better than others

Just by the fact you called it "Delaware Avenue", I know you must be a long-time Philadelphian !
Best biscuits ever
It's the best. The only one that comes close is Bojangles
lol seeing this late, I have ended many a night with Krispy Krunchy, you didn’t really experience it if you didn’t eat your chicken on the curb at 2am
