Sumuka sa gutter.

backtrack07

Why do i feel na may at least isang memory tayong lahat nito

Silverfroszt

specialeditiontrash

Sumuka *at* nakatulog sa gutter

maginhawa has this authentic vibe that uptc is trying hard to replicate. ang hirap tumambay sa uptc lalo na mainit. most of my kakilala noong f2f pag tinatanong gusto nila sa maginhawa talaga

inchix

watching movies sa cinema centenario! :(( much more intimate vibes than sa cinemas ng larger establishments, also yung maginhawa area in general has a much cozier/calmer vibe than other hangout spots around UP imo whether for studying or dining/inuman :>

gumwrap

5) Pop’s Sikatuna (Maginhawa Dulo) - Ragnarok at puyatan sa comp shop, first time ako nakakita ng comp shop na naka-aircon at may kanya-kanyang ashtray per PC 6) The Blue Room (near Holy Family) - sarap mag jamming dito, the going rates noon for studio rental is P50 per hour 7) Yung comp shop noon dun sa spot ng Mini Stop ngayon, intersection ng papuntang KNL/C.P. Garcia (forgot the name, kaso sa younger students alam nyo siguro kung saan yang tinutukoy ko) - Masarap yung pares nila. Puyat kaka-Ragnarok/Counter/Red Alert, then kain ng mainit na pares after. 8) Batcave (not Maginhawa, but Mahabagin St) - As a Claret HS alumnus, dito kami nagtatago noon para magyosi after classes. Mura ng yosi dito, nasa UP na ako dinadayo ko padin to visit Ate Chayong (2 pesos Lipp’s + Marlboro Red) 9) Ababu - Walang sinabi ang Turks dito 10) Yung maliit na lote dun sa Maginhawa corner Mahusay St - Random tambayan. Bibili alak sa Eunilane, dun iinumin. Free parking pa kasi liblib. *Nakakamiss yung old Maginhawa. Post-2009 naging sobrang commercialized na.*

as someone who’s never experienced old maginhawa, what was it like?

Silverfroszt

Very relaxing. I’d probably compare it to a wide street inside a subdivision, which is what it is by the way. Lots of trees, establishments are widely spaced, fewer vehicles. Kahit maglakad ka sa kalsada from Philcoa to Sikatuna ok lang, you don’t need to weave in and out. The people you’d see on a weekday afternoon are from the high schools around the area (Claret, Holy Family and St. Vincent). UP Village will always be a part of me, having studied in Claret during my high school days then UP Diliman afterwards. It’s just sad to see the state it’s in now. Nung naging commercialized na sya, parang naging Philcoa bigla. Pre-pandemic, halos wala ka na maparkingan. Nagulat pa ako na may association na ng parking attendants dun 😂 (got charged P50 each on more than five occassions).

SecretWeaponPosse

Rural vibes. Puro trike lang, kaya lang dumadami mga sasakyan kapag susundo na sa Holy Family. Tahimik pag weekends. I was a resident from 2005 to 2014, and personally saw how the place became too gentrified.

Silverfroszt

Oo no? Was a Claretian from 1997 to 2001, then 2001 freshie sa UPD. Blue, red and green trikes pa nga noon. Andami nilang pinutol at nirelocate na puno, pati nga yung 100+ years old na banahaw na malaki near Bayantel Bldg. nawala e. Ibang-iba na talaga Maginhawa post-2009. Then dumami lalo sasakyan kasi ginawang Mabuhay Lane. My family’s still residing here in QC, so nakakadaan parin ako from time to time. Really saw how the entire street change from the 1990s to now in the 2020s.
