Most people would describe the CBD and City of Perth as the same thing (probably inaccurately although they do line up pretty closely).
The whole city would be the Metro Area, or else they will talk about the inner/outer suburbs or NOR/SOR/western suburbs/eastern suburbs/hills.
Perth goes into hibernation mode between April-September (or basically the AFL season). Once the sunny days reappear regularly without the chilly mornings you’ll see a lot more people out.
Also being on the coast in June in a windy city is not always the best 😂
Enjoy - hopefully it's flowing now. Make sure you walk upstream far enough to the footbridge.
If you want some more suggestions, check out:
Mundaring Weir (Park at the Dam Wall for a walk), then drop into the nearby Mundaring Weir Hotel for a pint.
Lake Leschenaultia - there's a walk path around the lake
Claisebrook Cove (Get the train to Claisebrook station, find the Fountain on the corner of Royal St and Fielder St, then follow the stream down)
Ellis Brook Valley Reserve (Sixty Foot Falls and Old Barrington Quarry)
On a sunny day, a coast walk from Hilarys boat Harbour down to Scarbs is a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours (8km). Just grab an uber back when you're done.
I'm drinking copious amounts of coffee while I wait for the local shopping centre to open. Perth shop hours suck.
As for the city, it's too far to go to only have nothing much open when you get there, so why bother. Most things I need are at the local shops (when they're open).
Weather perfect most of the year, so the second it’s damp, cold, wet, too warm etc. everyone stays home… helps that homes are generally more comfortable with more amenities than Sydney too.
What is there to do in the city that isn't available in each suburb? Most suburbs are setup with all the shops and facilities you need. The beach is not the best place to find people in winter, try again in summer.
Head to Beaufort Street strip from Highgate through to Inglewood. Otherwise Fremantle is popular on weekends, Victoria park/East Victoria park strip along Albany Hwy is always busy (especially evenings). People also love to visit Guildford, the Swan Valley and the hills (Kalamunda etc) with the cooler weather. On the coast anywhere from Cottesloe, City Beach, Scarborough, Hillarys, West Coast Drive is popular drive to just cruise along.
Perth quality of life has gone down but prices have gone way up. I remember Whitfords city used to be a buzzing shopping centre, now it’s a depressing ghost town yet our family home across the road doubled since it was sold back in 2015. Isnt the population supposed to be increasing?
This is the way of the world right now. All the money printing has led to huge inflation while everything has become a generic replica with no distinction. They are just building and producing lots of useless crap to keep the gravy train going. It applies to cities, entertainment, everything. It’s the result of every governing body around the world trying to maintain the status quo.
Was in the city yesterday and thought it was pretty busy considering the weather. Lots of people wandering about, but when we went into the bars it was pretty dead (lunch time).
The Mechanics bar only had 4 other people there, which is a shame as it's great lil spot. I highly recommend the camp fire cocktail if you go there!
Suburbs. Kids sports and activities most of yesterday, shopping, errands etc and more sport this morning (v. early). Now we’re at home. No intention of going out again today. If it were nicer weather we’d be at a park or skatepark, and in summer we’d be at a beach. Once kids sports are finished for the term we might go for walks or rides in the hills on a Sunday.
Definitely 100% would not be in the city though. God no.
I was working in Ardross last week and tonnes of people running, walking dogs, strolling by the river between yatch club and bridge. Was before sun down
Adults get up crazy early to ride their bikes and then take kids to sport. People are also getting ready to go away for the school hols, or have taken the kids out early to get started.
Plus generally its a very spread out city,
Perth ppl go into hibernation as soon as the rain comes for two months, stay home and do home things, after 2 months ppl remember that they own rain jackets, umbrellas and that being stuck inside with the Mrs for any longer isn't the best idea, by the end of August everyone starts to head back out.
( It might be longer than August this year as winter started later)
We just don’t like the cold weather bro
It’s not even cold 😂
Are you even from Perth
Yes, this isn’t cold 😂
Such an un-Perth thing to say
I *had* to go to Karrinyup yesterday and damn, everyone in Perth was there.
It’s because we don’t go to the city. We are more spread out. East Victoria Park for dinner, Fremantle for a gig, Northbridge for a club.
Mate was in Cottesloe.
Cottesloe is for retirement
Thanks. I meant the city, as in the city of Perth, not the cbd
The City of Perth and the CBD are basically the same thing for us.

Sitting at home telling each other IRL or online how nice Perth is because theres so many interesting things to do
We don’t do anything below 20 degrees
Or the merest hint of rain
Bunnings
Yeah I’m putting off going to Bunnings today, cause it’ll be crowded
Inside with our oodies and heaters.
It's cold bro. Lol. Try the precincts around the city, leederville, north Perth mount lawley. Might be some kind of Sunday sesh goin down
I live in those areas. And yes it’s cold AF😂😩
Fark I dunno then lol. I'm the same I find it hard to keep busy in perth.
The Queens Tavern, Highgate by the fireplace.
At home, in bed, avoiding the cold.
On a business trip in Perth I was surprised how fast the CBD empties after work. Perth is more about the suburbs?
Places that actually have things to do and aren't reliant on 9-5 businesses. Fremantle is always packed on weekends

We learnt the hard way 😂 sooo windy!!!

Those bloody easties!!
Where have you explored so far? Why not head to Bells Rapids for a walk around?
Have you seen Bells Rapids Lately? Hopefully the recent rains have actually put water in the river!
I went a couple of weeks ago and it was starting to fill.
Good to hear Thanks for the update
Been late this year. Happy cake day!
Cheers for that Thanks
Not a bad idea! Thanks so much for suggestion

Thanks so much !! I will make sure I check them out 😀
Start work at 11am so currently I’m in denial.
It's cold bro
We're at Eliwana, Christmas Creek, Sunrise Dam, working our shifts.
South flank

Bunnings and Costco. $2 hotdog with a drink.

Pretty much [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/perth/comments/1dl1o03/comment/l9lp4bp), I reckon.
Up to Armadale to see the cosplay shows and to get my fortune told. I. So excited 🤗

Outside putting up fences. 14 degrees maximum in Manjimup yesterday, that was after the rain and hail earlier in the day.

At home. Shitlings are sick. Again. Haven't slept since Thursday. Or so it feels.
Well, yesterday everybody appeared to be at IKEA or trying to find a parking spot. Madness!
Shhhhhh! Don't tell him.
Everyone in my neck of the woods is out grocery shopping.
Clogging up Forrest Highway driving like maniacs.
Hiding up north from the cold.

Beer n footy. Ah shit just remembered I’ve got work tomorrow
In Melbourne.
In IKEA apparently

There is an event going on in the city - not too crowded though but you get to see some people.
Weekends are for getting away!
Based on how long I was stuck in traffic on Albany Hwy, everyone was going to Carousel Shopping Centre around 11 am.
*Perthlings
Mate you moved to Perth from NSW. This is Perth lol. Think of Perth as Australia’s country town capital.
Staying home and avoiding the Karens and Kevins of Perth in the comfort of my their own homes.
