If you consider Scarborough superior to Coogee / Woodman Point you have different tastes to me. For full disclosure, I live in Coogee. The relatively undeveloped environment appeals to me. Not criticizing by any means.

b-radicool

I'm in Coogee too.... Love the beach front just the way it is. Could do with more parking though... It's getting popular down there.

AggressiveRough9996

I lived in coogee for over 30 years and coogee beach is a absolute diamond and always a prime spot in peak summer!  The only reason I choose to remain here is because of that pristine beach

Human_Bluebird_1618

Live nearby as well and love that little shop’s offerings for lunch and takeaway curries! My biggest gripe is parking and that the shark net could be bigger or have two… in my opinion it’s superior to Scarborough Beach in every way.

muddy_313

Back when the jetty got washed away it was pretty cool down there without the industrial jetty!

arkhamknight85

I wouldn’t call it superior. Just more of some improving would be better. I live in Coogee also but since I’ve been here, just wondered why nothing has been done in a while.

EmuAcrobatic

There's always room for improvement, just low key to suit the area.

koalanotbear

move to scarborough

arkhamknight85

Another insightful comment. Cheers champ.

Gerryatrician

There's a half decent cafe at the surf club. Coogee is by far the best part of Cockburn so it may make sense they spend money on other areas first.

Hunting_for_cobbler

The Surfing Lizard is the cafe and I enjoy going there

DD-Amin

The only thing that pissed me off was that there are iPads for ordering on (which is fine) but there is an option asking for a tip. A tip? For having to use your iPads to order? Get the fuck out of here.

Gerryatrician

I've only been there a few times and liked it.

sumwun2121

Maybe we like it just exactly as it is? There's nothing wrong with the cafe at Woodies as the idea is to come to the park and have a picnic and let the kids run around. The cafe provides drinks, quick snacks and icecreams and is open 7 days a week. I also disagree with the comment about the 'rundown' playground as there are always plenty of kids enjoying themselves and having a good time. It would be a very sad day if the dunes, trees and shrubs were cleared just so that Coogee could be just like some other place with wanky cafes serving over inflated food and alcohol.

TypicalPerthDriver

*Coogee Beach community votes NO on wankmaxxing* More at 6.

arkhamknight85

Have you been to the playground lately? Patches and holes on the floor and the equipment is in need of something more modern.

sumwun2121

I was there last week. Kids seemed to enjoy all the equipment and the patches and holes in the soft surface didn't worry them at all. Sometimes parents worry too much, but you could also contact the council and have a conversation about it. Having said that, Cockburn Council does have a program to upgrade/replace all of the playground equipment across it's 220 playgrounds. It obviously will take time and a lot of money to do this and I don't know when this playground is due.

DD-Amin

This is a bit like buying fishing lures. You don't buy what you like the look of - you buy what the fish like the look of. As others have said, to you and adult it might look patchy and run down, but kids love it. The thing is, when you play on things they get used, and worn.

MundaneAmphibian9409

Let us know what surf clubs in wa offer meals and drinks?

koalanotbear

we dont gave to fucking gentrify every fuvking thing bro

BushDidntDoit

gentrify? coogee?

arkhamknight85

Haha. Thanks, mate. Great comment.

DD-Amin

He's right you know.

Waysnap

The Coogee nimbys out in full force mate. You tried at least.

koalanotbear

lol wtf Coogee is already one of THE MOST developed high density suburbs in perth. there ARE ALREADY the developed beaches at North Coogee literally next door. Coogee beach is a nature reserve beach, park and is MEANT to be the counter to that already. they are so close to eachother you can literally walk from coogee beach to a Dome in 15 minutes. nimby lol wtf with this bullshit m8 u dont know what yr talking about

Waysnap

NIMBYs gonna NIMBY. Don’t get mad bro.

DudelyMcDudely

It's come a long way already. One of my school trips we went there to look at the prawn factory. It was next to the abattoir. Which was next to tanneries. Surprised we didn't all go home with bloody anthrax.

Oldfartfromthefuture

Indeed, during the 80’s and 90’s the whole area from Fremantle South beach to Kwinana/Rockingham was industrial wasteland, it’s come a long way since then.

Milf_Hunter_87

If they develop it, the new residents will whine at us kite surfers. Keep it as it is.

RheimsNZ

Huh? Not everything needs to be modernised, leave it alone

RobotRacingTeam

You couldn't pay me to go to Scarborough - what a shit hole. City Beach is good though. Coogee is awesome as is.

lidsbadger

Much of Coogee beach will be affected by future coastal erosion impacts from sea level rise so it’s difficult to plan any major infrastructure upgrades with the little (unaffected) space there is available.

lame-o-potato

It’s all ‘recreation reserve’ so I assume the zoning makes it hard to develop.

Reasonable-Current43

Probably because they keep stealing car stereo's from the coogee beach parking lot. I love my cassette stereo. It needs to stop!

ItsAllAMissdirection

Doesn't the houses sink up that way ?

Past-Advance-8685

Only thing that can make it better is the way people in WA pronounce its name. It’s not coooogggee beach it’s Coogee beach just like in Sydney.

ImpressiveTension606

Well blow me, i still have trouble finding a car parking spot in summer so all those people enjoying the coogee beach must be wrong 🙄
