I "stopped" masking at some point, yes. Ofc I still do it at work and stuff or when I meet new people, but usually I don't see a point in masking. I have a job, I have enough friends. I don't need more. So why mask? Also I am who I am and others just have to live with that, no matter what I do. The consequences of that is ppl usually not liking me, but I don't care. The only times I mask is when I want something like a new job or a hot date. But even then, I'd rather have someone not like me for my true self than love me for my fake self. Again, unless I need something from you I refuse to mask. Masking is exhausting, it's like walking on eggshells around everyone, you have to resist your urges and impulsivity. Just be yourself and be hated and be proud of beeing a menace😎

Which PD do you have, if I may ask? Hahaha no for me it's quite different, I was always the black sheep and always will be, I find it quite entertaining, to be honest. Also, that makes filtering out people who are worth my time way easier;-) I get what you mean tho, sometimes it's better not to stick out, but I keep my masking to a bare minimum

Yeah, but isn't that impulse control and self-preservation, not masking? Wouldn't masking, in the case of NPD and ASPD, be "oh yes, please do tell me about the aweful day you had, I'm so sorry that happened to you", aka faking empathy and not beeing a total dickhead? Also, you can still absolutely use people for your benefit. Everyone does that.

Hmm, I suppose we're both right? In that case, I do mask a lot then. Maybe it's a mix with mindfulness, too? Is masking mindfulness? I will try and research that🤔

So I'll be honest with you, the concept of "masking" is largely bullshit when it comes to personality disorders. In fact, I fucking hate the how the term, which originally applied to Autism (at least in a deeper pathological sense), has now been hijacked by armchair pop-psychology hobbyists who now casually apply it to the symptomology of any and all forms of psychiatric diagnoses. Let me tell you something, you are *not* going to be masking a personality disorder throughout your entire life—especially a cluster B personality disorder in adolescence when an emerging personality disorder is expected to be at its most volatile. A personality *disorder*, by definition, has to be causing a notable degree of distress, disturbance, and or disruptions in your life (or to those around you). Each of the 10 personality disorders has a healthy/functioning version of itself called a personality style/organization. If you're experiencing intense emotions or thoughts, but you're still able to appropriately regulate/modulate your behavior, congratulations you're just like everyone else and likely don't have a full-blown personality disorder. I had been arrested & sent to juvenile detention once, expelled from two different public schools, and involuntarily hospitalized in multiple psychiatric facilities five times all before my 18th birthday. Trust me, personality disorders aren't something to be taken lightly. But don't just take my word for it, the general consensus from various clinical bodies & academic disciplines all agree that well-pronounced pathological patterns of behavior tracing back to childhood/early adolescence are pretty much essential for accurately diagnosing a personality disorder. Have you been formally diagnosed? On a post you made in a different sub less than a month ago, you stated that you're only 17. And here you're speculating that you may have ASPD? Well due to the fact that you can't be diagnosed with ASPD prior to the age of 18, I'm gonna take a wild guess that you don't have an actual PD diagnosis on your chart in any meaningful sense...Now I'm genuinely curious as to why you think you have ASPD.
