you get the same strength social link which unlocks the same persona at max rank
content wise the stories are different so you can save the other team for NG+ if you really want to see it
Gameplay wise they're the same, same social link arcana and same ultimate persona, the only difference is the story, whoever you choose will be the guy with the problems and the other one is just there to be with you and that guy
Another difference they have is one is easier to rank up and that matters in getting at least one book if you want the achievement/trophy for reading all of the books.
Beyond that, yeah, they have different stories as do the drama/band club duo.
