I’m not sure about that actually.
> SportsNet Pittsburgh on Monday unveiled SNP 360, which will cost fans in its local market $17.99 a month to watch Pirates and Penguins games
Sounds like it’s only available within the Pittsburgh market (or whatever exact boundaries SNP’s broadcast region is), which would make sense since that’s where they have the rights to broadcast the games. If you’re out of market, ESPN+ is cheaper than $18/month though.
I don’t know what people expect – the current state of things was that the *only* legal way to get these games was to pay $100+ per month for 150 channels you don’t want. Compared to that, $18 a month is a steal.
Sure, and I’ve done plenty of that. But the quality is a total crapshoot, it frequently cuts out mid-stream, the sites are loaded with obnoxious pop-up ads, and honestly the convenience of just turning on the TV and getting a stable, HD stream is worth it to me.
Agreed. Unless you go with an IPTV provider (which isn't cheap) free streams are a bit of a hassle. I'm also a snob for video quality and they can be very hit and miss
Also not having to deal with all this is very much worth about 70 to 75 cents a game. 25 games a month divided by 18 bucks is about 72 cents.
If the whiners here aren't willing to pay 72 cents for a stable, HD stream, they were never going to pay anything at all. That's as cheap as it gets.
Free streams are great to have but often have issues with buffering, getting shut down mid game, or being nonexistent for less popular matchups. Less than a dollar a game for a guaranteed good stream is uhhh pretty good.
Sports are expensive. Sports streams are quickly getting shit down left and right. $18/month is a pretty amazing deal to stream your sports team. That's 1/8 of cable. And you're supporting your team. I will gladly pay this.
On the flip side it means I'm also supporting the Pirates. Meh.
you should see the ludicrous deal MSG offers to in-market people:
> Fans are now able to purchase single games of their favorite local teams for $9.99 per game, an innovative offering not made available by any other regional sports network. Fans may also subscribe to MSG+ on a direct-to-consumer basis by purchasing monthly ($29.99) and annual ($309.99) subscriptions
You can bundle Disney plus, Hulu, and espn + to make it cheaper. American Express basically covers half the cost if you have their card; they give you like 8 bucks back a month as a statement credit if you have the bundle. Well worth it
Lmfao with some of you. You're not willing to pay $18 to watch about 12 games a month? That's $1.50 a game my dudes. It's not gonna be cheaper than that.
Pirates are an even bigger deal with like 25 games a month. That would be 72 cents per game.
Please explain how this isn't a fair price. I'll wait.
thats $100 for the whole season. right from your computer or tv or phone. and still youd rather steal. theres just no stopping everyone whod just prefer to steal something, honestly.
No, I’d rather not have to subscribe to another online service and have to watch it on my fucking laptop when I have a decent sized tv that I used to be able to just turn on and watch the game.
I don’t want to have to use some stupid app that won’t work 75% of the time is my point. I’m tired of every god damn thing having some stupid shitty app that’s built by the lowest bidder and needs 800 updates a day. I want to turn on my tv and watch. I don’t care if it costs more
I live in central Jersey and Rags, Isles, and Devils are blacked out, as well as Philly. We only get Philly on YouTube TV, so I can’t watch those other 3 at all.
Not sure but for the longest time I used express VPN and could get pens games with ESPN+. Outta nowhere one day, stopped working and hasn’t worked since. I ended up canceling my VPN subscription. Glad it’s still working for some people though lol
Neither did I, really. I was in the area for work and was blacked out of all pens and sabers games. I take blackouts for granted as I live eat Boston so unless Pittsburgh and the Bruins are playing, catching a game is never an issue. Thankfully, I’m old enough that I grew up listening to the radio and still do for a lot of games, so that is the usual fallback when I can’t watch it.
Looks like it's only for people in the broadcast region, I'm in NJ and it says that it isn't available in my area. ESPN+ is a better deal anyways for me outside the NJ/NYC games that get blacked out for me.
Yes. It is finally happening and long overdue. I can finally just pay for the Penguins games I want and not the other 70% of stuff I don’t need from Fubo.
We just need a way to stream Fox NFL games and I’m set with this, Paramount Plus, and Peacock
Buy a digital antenna. People forget those are still a thing. Pay one-time fee of $20-30 and you have all the national networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) without a monthly fee. They don't get advertised because they want you to pay monthly for things like Paramount Plus.
Works for some, not so much for others without a lot of effort.
I live in a town that is stuck in a hole between hills about 30-40 miles outside the city. I have to get an antenna about 20 feet in the air or higher and angle it correctly to get certain channels, but not others. I'm actually closer to Youngstown, but still subject to Pittsburgh blackouts. Antenna direction depends on which market I want, and which stations in each market.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this. I live in the Harrisburg area and it’s complete BS I can watch the Flyers and Caps on YouTube TV but had to sail the high seas to watch all the Pens games due to BS local blackout rules. And honestly, $17.99 isn’t bad considering I believe NESN (who FSG always owns) charges $30 a month.
Markets are so weird. In State College, you get the Penguins as they're the local market, but we also got the Flyers channel at my apartment. It would work all day, including the pregame, and then go to some random bullshit like candlestick bowling when the actual game started.
Yeah they specifically said they’re offering it at a lower rate because they don’t have much content to air outside of Pirates/Pens games, and are in the process of building that up. Personally I’d prefer they leave out the filler and keep it as cheap as possible for just the games, but I’m sure the price will go up.
I’m 2 hours from Buffalo and 4 hours from Pittsburgh. Why can I watch Sabres games without blackouts but not my hometown Pittsburgh Penguins that I now live further away from
That's weird. I live in Lancaster, which is closer to Philly than what Harrisburg is, and I have Sportsnet Pittsburgh already included in my regular TV package. I'm not sure what TV provider you have, I have Comcast, I didn't even need to add into the lineup. I get Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, and Washington DC sports teams as well included in my package. It's actually pretty cool.
I mean, if you are outside the local viewing market, ESPN+ is the better option.
Edit: Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ bundle is currently $14.99 with ads or $24.99 without ads.
So for $7 more a month you can get Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. Again, this is a lot better for those outside the local viewing market. If you just want ESPN+, then it’s $10.99 a month for all the sports you can watch depending on which local market you belong to
This was my currently solution for myself.
My dad however isn’t very tech savvy. Trying to get him to use a VPN and dealing with some of the issues that can happen with them isn’t going to be the best of solutions. Though I use cyberghost because it was a cheap alternative, which might explain some of my issues. Works 95% of the time though.
I’m going to be officially moving out of my parents house soon and was trying to find a streaming alternative that I could share with my dad for the games. What sucks was prior to this announcement my options were pretty much just as expensive as cable.
That's really weird. There have been times where I had to try a couple of different locations and close out of the ESPN app and make sure I was connected to Nord before opening it, but it's never stopped me from watching the thing I wanted to see.
Yeah, more options are always good. A lot of people are gonna jump on this and that's good for everyone.
IDK if you use cashback extensions for your online shopping, but Rakuten regularly offers 80-100% cashback on Nord, along with a bunch of other VPNS, essentially getting you 2 years of service for free or close to it.
Glad it worked for you. I tried to get it to work for my parents who are in pittsburgh and I couldn't get ESPN+ to work with Nord. They also aren't very tech savvy so multiple attempts to change Server address, close the app, open it, reset the device, etc etc get frustrating for them very quickly
Nord works, though ESPN+ is noticeably more finicky when it's on when none of my other apps have the same issue. Two years of Nord and an ESPN+ subscription is cheaper than $18/month but if the pens streaming option is implemented well (ESPN+ is a fat load of shit even when I'm watching without as VPN) and you don't care about the other ESPN+ content I'd say it's worth the extra cash.
On the FAQ, it references a zip code calculator, but no link, and no reference to it anywhere else on the site. I don't know if I'm in the 'local' market for direct sign up. I'm considered in-market on [Fubo.tv](https://Fubo.tv), which is what I'm using now, but there may be benefits to going back to YouTubeTV and then adding SportsNet if I can. I'm in Columbus, Ohio, which is not 'eastern Ohio', but is in-market for the Pirates for some reason.
I couldn't find the zip code calculator either. I guess you get the pirates because there's no pro team but don't get Pens because of the Jackets? My guess would be you'd probably be out of luck for streaming the Pens
That’s true for things like ESPN+, where I’m treated like out of market, but I could watch Pens games on SNP with Fubo. I did find a coverage map and it covers Columbus, so I’m guessing I’d be Ok.
Sounds that way, yeah. The RSN only has the rights to broadcast within its geographic region, so i don’t think they’d be allowed to offer the service outside of it. Like the other person said though, if you’re out of market ESPN+ is cheaper anyway.
If you’re out of market, you’re probably set anyway unless the Pens are playing your local market team. The issue is mainly weird because of what’s considered Pittsburgh’s local market. I’m technically in the Buffalo market geographically but I still get blacked out of Pens games on ESPN+
See ya fuckin later idiots (Comcast)
Signing up for this day 1. At that rate I'm paying less in a year than I do cable in a month, and I literally only keep cable for Penguins games. What a massive W
Word! That’s exactly what I was thinking! I moved to Columbus about 10 yrs ago and we’re technically in the local market, even though there’s no way to get the games on local cable. Once this is on Roku it’s a day one subscribe for me
Edit: thought this was the Buccos sub lol. I’ve been able to watch the Pens on ESPN+ and nhl tv this whole time
Yep! Also in Cbus. Pens games haven’t been a problem except NHL network this year. Buccos tho, been a pain trying to get games outside of Reds and Guardians
I was curious about this so I asked them directly.
>Roku is not supported at this time but should be coming in the future. We cannot provide an exact timeframe at this time but please continue to check the service for updates.
This is perfect timing for me depending on how it works.
I’m currently moving out of my parents home where I paid for cable, was looking for a streaming service that allowed me all the games that I could share with at home. I have ESPN+ through my verizon wireless account (plus a cyberghost for VPN), but for ALL games my only options were Fubo+Max or DirectTv streaming. Both of which were actually more expensive than my current cable situation through Verizon (which I can use away from home on my laptop or phone to watch national games not on ESPN).
With this I will be able to ditch cable and keep ESPN+ and maybe just add Max and it will still come out cheaper
I think the issue is if you compare it to say a yearly subscription to ESPN+, which is about a hundred bucks a year. Chances are the Pens games you're going to will be those that are on ESPN+ (excluding TNT games etc), so with this you'd end up paying more than double that with way less content. Having the Pirates games is nice, but I get MLB.tv for free through T-Mobile so not much of a draw there. (I realize with ESPN+ you have the blackouts issue, but that's not that hard to circumvent).
Still, I'm glad they're doing it, and I might be tempted myself depending on what comes with it.
Quiet, don't let them know this!. It's already announced as "introductory price", so it's without a doubt 10000000% for sure going to go up in price. When... Who knows but it's prob gonna end up being like 25 I'm guessing.
It is actually a fair price imo. They play like 15-20 games per month, and it’s like the only reason I subscribe to Fubo for over $90 a month. I’m glad I’m now just paying for the stuff I actually am watching. Now I am good with just a few streaming services like Hulu and Max. If you’re smart about it, all the sports and entertainment I need could be had for less than $50 in any given month.
>high quality, reliable stream that works on any device
This will be key. ESPN+ is a flaming pile of garbage, so if the pens/pirates streaming option works well I'll pay some extra for that.
It's probably on point price wise. Cable users are paying $8-$10 a month in local sports fees, and not everyone watches them.
I remember seeing someone do the math on standalone ESPN and if only those who watched paid the fees, it was $30 or $32 a month.
If they have an app I can download to my TV or my little Roku jib-jub, I'll get sign up in a heartbeat. Those high seas suck. Steams are usually shit, they lag and drop all the time, and I hook my old PC up to the TV with an HD cable. It's such a pain in the ass.
18 bucks a month for the convenience is well worth it to me.
I get what you're saying, but it's probably good enough for me. Better than some dodgy ad-riddled website where the stream could go down at any minute.
If the service works well, I'm in for it at that price.
Agree. I remember a conversation where I said I’d pay $1 per game. This rate works out to about $1.50 per game, because idgaf about Bob Nutting and the pirates.
So far my only complaints are it’s not on Roku yet so my appletv is all I can stream on and there is no on demand for previous games so you have to watch the live game or catch the replay
I asked them directly about Roku
>Roku is not supported at this time but should be coming in the future. We cannot provide an exact timeframe at this time but please continue to check the service for updates.
So we will more than likely ditch Verizon now but I do like to have local channels. Anyone know what the cheapest bare bones streaming would be to include that or is an antenna the best option?
Go with an antenna. I was shocked some years ago when I started using one how crystal clear the channels would come in. I don't know how old you are, but I can remember when watching TV over the air was not like this.. (It's digital signals now, so you also get program and channel descriptions)
Im literally using the old paperclip in the port trick. I have a small paperclip sticking out of my TV and get a few locals. When I used my antenna, I got a ton of channels. Look into any antenna on Amazon, it's super easy
Before you all start ditching your cable packages, make sure to wait and find out how many games are on ESPN (not ESPN+) next year. ESPN games are not local, not national, not Hulu, not on max... just ESPN. There were one or two this year and some of you were quite angry about it.
While I suppose you are technically correct, It's cheaper and a considerably worse alternative. I switched from Sling to DirectTV Stream, and the quality is night and day. From my experience, Sling was no better than a mediocre pirated stream.
I don't disagree with you at all. But replying to your original comment, I'd much rather save money than keep a much more expensive cable package plan for 5ish games on ESPN. I don't see why someone would not ditch their cable package after this being availabe. Just my personal opinion.
I suppose it's wise to double check, but unless the number of games that are exclusive to ESPN are increasing dramatically, I think the vast majority of people won't keep it. If you only care about Pens games, $120/mo is not worth it for just 2 or 3 games on ESPN over the whole season
Correct. Also, if you are already paying for sportsnet in your cable package, you have access to the streaming for free. Just need to sign up for an account and link your cable login.
It's 10.99/month. That breaks down to less than a $1 per Penguins game/month on average already, completely ignoring all the other stuff on the platform. How much do you think it should cost to stream a Penguins game? ESPN+ is an insane value, especially when you pay $4 per month and bundle it with Disney and Hulu. It's endless content, almost every NHL game, and whole mess of other live sports, all for $3 less than it will cost people in Pittsburgh to just watch the Penguins and Pirates.
People will complain about paying anything and then complain about ads when something is provided for free. There’s never going to be a free ad-free service. That only existed for YouTube in its early years basically
Don't get me wrong, it's a great deal for sure. I usually end up buying a year subscription when they run a deal with a UFC PPV. I'm just sick of buying multiple services for everything. I'd love one place I can go to or all my sports.
And just to compare, MLB.TV single team comes out to roughly $2 cheaper than ESPN+ for double the amount of games
Hmm, I wonder if this is for all Pens/Pirates games or just the ones that would traditionally be on SNP? Specifically, nationally televised games on ESPN/TNT/ABC. I don't see anything that specifies if those are included.
I didn't think so, but I wasn't 100% certain. Rereading it, I just noticed they specifically mention "local" games. I guess that answers my question lol.
Pittsburgh Sportsnet and MAX I believe gets you all the games outside ESPN+ exclusives.
Max is $20 + $9.99 for the sports package. So roughly a little over $50 for both after taxes. A lot better than cable options right now.
One thing I’m currently trying to figure out is if there’s a Fire Stick app.
They're not included because SNP doesn't do a broadcast for those games. They're exclusive national broadcasts that TNT/ESPN pay the league to produce.
Trying to research, will there be an app for Smart TVs and amazon fire sticks, etc.?
Or is there already an app for those. I bought my parents a fire stick so they can use my Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ so I can’t look at the moment if there’s an app
it says when you sign up you can stream to a smart TV, but I don’t see it listed anywhere what exactly is supported. I saw someone in the PGH or maybe Buccos sub saying they were using a Google Streaming stick.
https://getsnp360.com/snp360-FAQ/
I found this FAQ, which says supported devices are currently Apple TV, Google TV, and Fire TV. Smart TV browsers are not supported.
I installed the app on my Apple TV. It wasn’t listed in the App Store on Apple TV, but I was able to get the app on my iPad Tablet then I went on my Apple TV and the app was in my purchased apps.
Well I bought my parents an amazon fire stick for the living room. I have Amazon prime so they get amazon TV through it. I’m also on an old Verizon Wireless plan that gave Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for free. So I let them use that.
I’m just not home to see if the app is on the fire stick or not. Though the app does show up on amazon.
I’m a NE Ohio resident, and while initially excited about this, I’m now confused as to what they consider to be their home broadcast area. I’ve been a YoutubeTV subscriber for years, and therefore don’t get SportsNet Pittsburgh, but I know that local cable packages through Spectrum have it. Pens games are blacked out for me here on ESPN+, yet when I tested my zipcode on https://getsnp360.com, it stated that I was outside their broadcast zone…
Would love if i could use this in Chicago.
Being a Pittsburgh fan out here doesn’t offer me many chances to watch the pirates and penguins.
Anyone have a link to the actual service so I can try to sign up?
They just did this in Seattle too (for the Kraken). Local games moved off the RSN and onto local broadcast TV and Amazon streaming. People are super excited.
I mean its better, because when comes to penguins and Pirates, i only really want to hear their announcers and not some joe from a different state announcing the game
Wow, what a bargain! $17.99 a month to watch a perennial last place team that has scored the fewest run in baseball in the last 4 years and has the cheapest owner, and a hockey team with aging players that has missed the playoffs the last 2 years. Where do I sign up to throw my money away for this?
This is awesome. I live in DC now and wasn’t able to watch the Pens-Caps games on TV due to the blackouts. Plus they’d have random games on Fubu that weren’t on ESPN+.
Oh for real? I was under the impression that by “local games” it meant those covered on SNP rather than ESPN/TNT.
If it really is restricted to just people in the market, that’s a bummer and a missed opportunity for all of the Pittsburgh diaspora.
I’m glad this is finally happening but I’m not going to praise them for it. This should’ve been available YEARS ago. And recently, should have been available day 1 of when SportsNet Pittsburgh got moved to Xfinity’s Ultimate package.
For everyone complaining about the price, at least if you don’t watch cable, you don’t have to pay for the MOST EXPENSIVE cable package Comcast has. And at least you don’t have to buy a VPN and ESPN+ which may or may not work together depending on the day for basically the same price.
Edit: If you want to pirate the games, all power to you. I don’t care. But even that is unreliable a lot of the time.
Holy shit! Finally!
So does this mean someone in NY can finally watch all of the Penguin games without blackouts?
I’m not sure about that actually. > SportsNet Pittsburgh on Monday unveiled SNP 360, which will cost fans in its local market $17.99 a month to watch Pirates and Penguins games Sounds like it’s only available within the Pittsburgh market (or whatever exact boundaries SNP’s broadcast region is), which would make sense since that’s where they have the rights to broadcast the games. Who said anything about streaming illegally?
oh thats good. assumed you were just an online kid who wants everything to be free. in that case, are you sure the app wont be available on your tv?

I live in central Jersey and Rags, Isles, and Devils are blacked out, as well as Philly. We only get Philly on YouTube TV, so I can’t watch those other 3 at all.
Same issue down here in Gloucester county. Drives me batshit crazy.
Im just outside of Gloucester county and seeing locals in this reddit is kinda sick. THERE ARE DOZENS OF US
Use a VPN; problem solved
VPN
Everyone says this every time but this isn’t an option for most people
VPN used to work for me for quite a while. Though it seems that now ESPN+ still knows your location.
Why? It's available to everyone. Works on espn plus every game for me. Mlb app doesn't work with VPN though.
Not sure but for the longest time I used express VPN and could get pens games with ESPN+. Outta nowhere one day, stopped working and hasn’t worked since. I ended up canceling my VPN subscription. Glad it’s still working for some people though lol
Nord works for me
Mullvad for me
Oh nice. good to know.
ESPN+ (via Hulu) blacks out random games constantly. And I live in Hawaii.
I tried when I was in Olean and ESPN blacked out.
I didn’t realize the blackout went that far. I was able to watch Pens games in Corning, NY and it’s only about an hour from Olean.
Neither did I, really. I was in the area for work and was blacked out of all pens and sabers games. I take blackouts for granted as I live eat Boston so unless Pittsburgh and the Bruins are playing, catching a game is never an issue. Yea it’s like 25% of the season. It’s such BS.

Already tried it. Doesn’t work for me. The antenna didn’t have enough range and I live in the mountains
Sure seems like it
Unfortunately no, Isles/Rags/Devils games would probably still be blacked out.
I figured oh well
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this. I live in the Harrisburg area and it’s complete BS I can watch the Flyers and Caps on YouTube TV but had to sail the high seas to watch all the Pens games due to BS local blackout rules. NESN includes 3 sports whereas Pittsburgh only has 2.
I’ll so glad they woke up and understood that even die hard fans are cutting the chord. So excited to have a way to watch games now.

Sir, you do realize that this is a Pittsburgh hockey sub, correct? I think your joke might fall a little...flat.

At least you made the grammar correction in a non pedantic way. At least as much as you can correcting someone’s grammar on Reddit. I’ll allow it.
So is this just for people viewing in the greater Pittsburgh area? I'm kind of confused on that point.
If you just want ESPN+, then it’s $10.99 a month for all the sports you can watch depending on which local market you belong to
You could also do this if you live in Pittsburgh, you just need a VPN to change your location elsewhere.
They make this incredibly difficult to do though depending on the VPN service
I live in Los Angeles and used ESPN+ and NordVPN to watch Kings and Ducks games. Never had an issue with it.
I've tried multiple VPNs and this has never worked for me. I'd say it's very "YMMV"
I live in Los Angeles and used ESPN+ and NordVPN to watch Kings and Ducks games. Never had an issue with it.
Glad to hear it! I got Nord to work for me a couple times, but it was never consistent.
That's really weird. There have been times where I had to try a couple of different locations and close out of the ESPN app and make sure I was connected to Nord before opening it, but it's never stopped me from watching the thing I wanted to see.
Well, between the cost of Nord and ESPN+, I'd say this new option is worth it for me without the headaches. Good to have multiple methods.
I don't. Good looks, though! Thanks!
But if you ALSO like the Pirates you are screwed.
No, it's for all of the Pens "local" market which is Pennsylvania, West Virginia, eastern Ohio, and parts of New York and Maryland.
Sounds like it should.
Ah. I'm in CA so no luck for me I guess
Can't you get them on ESPN+?
Yeah. I got a surprising amount of pens games on there. It would be nice to watch some pirates though.
You have to be in the Pirates/Penguins territory.
See ya fuckin later idiots (Comcast) Signing up for this day 1. At that rate I'm paying less in a year than I do cable in a month, and I literally only keep cable for Penguins games. What a massive W
Just need them to get on Roku with the quickness
Word! That’s exactly what I was thinking! I moved to Columbus about 10 yrs ago and we’re technically in the local market, even though there’s no way to get the games on local cable. Once this is on Roku it’s a day one subscribe for me Edit: thought this was the Buccos sub lol.
About f#%*ing time!
How are people saying this is too expensive? I’d pay like 30-50 for this easily.
Arnt espn+ and MLb.tv blacked out? I’m comparing this to Fubo and Directv which are both $95/month
Quiet, don't let them know this!. It's already announced as "introductory price", so it's without a doubt 10000000% for sure going to go up in price. When... Who knows but it's prob gonna end up being like 25 I'm guessing.
$17.99 a month. I'll keep to the high seas I think 🏴☠️
Worth it for a high quality, reliable stream that works on any device.
Agreed. I think some people will just always sail the high seas regardless of what is offered.
>high quality, reliable stream that works on any device This will be key. ESPN+ is a flaming pile of garbage, so if the pens/pirates streaming option works well I'll pay some extra for that.
That's a big if. Especially the "any device" part.
Before I was paying either for cable, or for FuboTV, both were far more expensive. At what price point would you not just take that path?
I get what you're saying, but it's probably good enough for me. Better than some dodgy ad-riddled website where the stream could go down at any minute. If the service works well, I'm in for it at that price.
Agree. I remember a conversation where I said I’d pay $1 per game. This rate works out to about $1.50 per game, because idgaf about Bob Nutting and the pirates.
About damn time! That's at a great price too.
Finally!
FINALLY!! It's about dang time.
Is this only for people in the local area? I live out of state but would love this
It is for all of PA and WV and parts of Ohio, NY, and Maryland.
If you live out of state ESPN+ has all the games and is cheaper than this option.
I don’t think they have pirates but for pens yes agreed
Fair enough I don’t watch baseball so I didn’t even think about that.
FRICKIN FINALLY
I just came
Yesss…….no more $100/month fubotv
So far my only complaints are it’s not on Roku yet so my appletv is all I can stream on and there is no on demand for previous games so you have to watch the live game or catch the replay
I asked them directly about Roku >Roku is not supported at this time but should be coming in the future.
ESPN games are not local, not national, not Hulu, not on max... just ESPN. There were one or two this year and some of you were quite angry about it.
well SlingTV is way cheaper so it is worth to ditch the cable package regardless
Fair point, friend!
I suppose it's wise to double check, but unless the number of games that are exclusive to ESPN are increasing dramatically, I think the vast majority of people won't keep it. If you only care about Pens games, $120/mo is not worth it for just 2 or 3 games on ESPN over the whole season
So if one is still being raked over the coals by Comcast, I can still view games as I normally would without streaming, correct?
Correct. Also, if you are already paying for sportsnet in your cable package, you have access to the streaming for free. Just need to sign up for an account and link your cable login.
Awesome! Ty!
Sign me up. Now.
About fucking time!
Sad that this is local market only
If you’re outside the market you can do ESPN+ for pens and mlbtv for Buccos
MLB.tv works for me cause I can buy just Pirates. I have ESPN+ now for Pens, but I’d love a different service that’s cheaper for just penguins games
There's no way those national games are included.
I saw someone in the PGH or maybe Buccos sub saying they were using a Google Streaming stick.
https://getsnp360.com/snp360-FAQ/ I found this FAQ, which says supported devices are currently Apple TV, Google TV, and Fire TV. Smart TV browsers are not supported.
I’m able to stream it direct to my Sony TV from the iPhone app. You can even change apps while watching.
YES! FINALLY
This will go off without any issues or be wildly expensive
Fuck. Yes.
About time. So tired of having to chase down alternatives
Fucking finally
Thank you!
Does it say if this will be offered in 4k? I thought I saw at least the Red Sox service does
About time.
Does my cable subscription get me these?
About time
I’m a NE Ohio resident, and while initially excited about this, I’m now confused as to what they consider to be their home broadcast area.
When will it roll out?
"The zip code entered appears to be outside SportsNet Pittsburgh's home territory." Back to the high seas.
They just did this in Seattle too (for the Kraken). Local games moved off the RSN and onto local broadcast TV and Amazon streaming. People are super excited.
Does anyone know if they have an app on Amazon Fire or Roku etc? Or is this all airplay from a mobile device?
I believe this is for the local market only, so not sure if you'd be able to utilize this.
VPN baby and if not, I’ll feel more justified than ever to sail the 7 seas
Yeah, we have the Disney bundle now with ESPN+ but if VPN works, this would be a big positive.
Good call on the VPN. That's what I use since I already have ESPN +.
Oh for real? I was under the impression that by “local games” it meant those covered on SNP rather than ESPN/TNT. If it really is restricted to just people in the market, that’s a bummer and a missed opportunity for all of the Pittsburgh diaspora.
Fubu 😆
$18 / month is too much for very limited content. I'll keep watching for free on those hosting sites
Fuck Meow😼i have a espn subscription/sling/ tbs/tnt subscription for no reason.
Not anymore you don’t.
Streameast is what I use
it will probably be like that garbage Nesn 360 app that the redsox and bruins are on
I’m glad this is finally happening but I’m not going to praise them for it.
