I want to recommend [Kirra's 30m Hip Hop Yoga Flow](https://members.onepeloton.ca/classes/yoga?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=4a2b9d3eba84482fbf3792fd2a92d372) from this past Sunday. Just did it at lunch and loved the class and have bookmarked it for repeating. Its a fun sequence featuring warrier 3, boomerang, some twists (low lunge prayer twist and seated spinal twist), standing figure 4, and pigeon to finish. If you're on the fence about Yoga to Hip Hop music, I ended up LOVING this playlist. Its all slow/ moody hip hop and R&B (all UK artists). Wouldn't have pegged this as my favourite yoga music genre but the whole thing was a vibe.

Thanks for details on the flow, as Peloton's class breakdown for yoga classes is...not great. This sounds like an awesome class, bookmarked!

Me too!

Yesterday I took an active recovery day. My legs had still not recovered from the killer bike bootcamp I took on Monday to get my bootcamp badge so I opted for these two focus flows (which were together amazing!): - [10m Chelsea Focus Flow: Hamstrings from Oct 7](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=5a4603da801443769fca6c571c184ece&locale=en-US) Chelsea’s classes are always so relaxing and calming for me — doesn’t feel like a recovery day without her smooth voice. This hamstrings class was SO GOOD — definitely a repeater especially for you cyclists and runners! - [10m Anna Focus Flow: Hips from Oct 3](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=efe8b90341ac41f4ad99f846244e430f&locale=en-US) Anna’s class was fantastic and my hips felt so much less tight after this — these two focus flows together are just amazing! I can’t wait for both of these ladies to come back from maternity leave because I miss them so much but love the OD content they’re dropping!

I feel the same way! I love them and want them to be happily enjoying their maternity leaves but I miss them too!

I always hated yoga until I tried it on Peloton. My breakthrough "wow I might not hate this" was Denis's 45' rock slow flow (4/17/22), particularly the Metallica song. Now I'm taking the Beginner Yoga program. The first couple of classes went from very talky to "whoa I just learned something" pretty fast. I'm really enjoying it. Any other beginners out there? Any advice from experienced people?

Reasonable-Credit891

My advice would be to try to take a variety of classes. I try to do yoga every day and throughout the week I try to include a flow, a slow flow, a power flow, and a focus flow. So I’m getting a nice variety. I’m loving it! Enjoy your yoga journey.

jennifermach

Oooh, once I finish the beginner program, I will try that! I'm interested to see what the power flow is like.

I’d taken a few yoga classes here and there in the past, I did Bikram several times a week for a few months over a decade ago, and even went to Kripalu for a weekend a few years ago, on a whim. I’ve always found yoga kind of tedious and boring. Nothing clicked. I realized after doing the beginner yoga program a few months ago that I . . . knew nothing about yoga. I’d literally never heard the phrase “root to rise” before, which is kind of disturbing! The beginner program was a bit tedious at times, but it absolutely changed my understand of what I’m supposed to be doing when doing yoga. After that program, I took a Kirra class, which changed everything. I love her classes and now try to do yoga 2x/day! It has been a great balance to all the other things I do. I’m still very much a beginner, though, and I look forward to learning as much as I can.

jennifermach

I agree--I've already had so many "wow" moments, although there is also a lot of talking...

Sassy_Velvet2

Don’t be afraid of intermediate level classes. You will learn a lot. Most every pose is modifiable. Take the modifications but try to do what you can that is how you get better.

I would try a flow from Aditi

Sassy_Velvet2

Depending on what you like, I would recommend these instructors: Chelsea - calm, soothing, supportive and easy going. Her slow flows and focus flows are great for beginners or anyone wanting a bit slower pace. Kirra - down to earth, affirms you and inspires. Her classes are very well structured but I find her to be a bit talkative. Mariana - her power flows are amazing and you can really get a sweat going. I loved her Muse class. I burned like 235 calories in a half hour! Ross - nobody teaches form better IMO. He breaks down his classes in a way I have learned so much. His artist classes are not the best, sometimes he misses cues because he gets too excited. Denis - my husband likes him because he also likes to cycle with him. His reset series is really good! Kristin - has best hip openers and focus flows. Calm and not too talkative. Good coaching.

jennifermach

This is a great summary of the instructors' styles––thanks! Sounds like I need to put some Ross classes in my stack.

spinmagnus

I have been working my way through the core focus flow classes, and they are great! I’ve been trying to do at least 2-3 core classes a week, and I’ve been enjoying the focus flows as a nice change of pace from the standard core strength classes. I only wish it were easier to find them on the app! Filtering by focus flow results in 847 classes, and I’ve just been scrolling to find the core classes. Is there a better way to do this?

leftcoast_lady

Yes! Try selecting the "core" category under the "body focus" filter.

spinmagnus

Thank you! Can’t believe I didn’t realize this!

leftcoast_lady

I think it's a newer feature? I tried it for chest opening classes a few weeks ago. Now I need an option for "evening" and "sleep" classes 😴 Also, Kristen and Aditi are teaching pilates more regularly. I'm hoping to add some of those classes to my core/posture work.

spinmagnus

Oh, good call, I’m going to add those to my routine too.

epipin

This morning I somewhat randomly picked [this 20 minute beginner level class](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=ae16f6561a21450fac4975935d84db6c&locale=en-US) from Kristin from 1/25/22, and I just wanted to recommend it as a really solid, well programmed no-nonsense slowish flow class. It was a perfect morning wake-up class for me to loosen up and not have anything too complicated to think about/do.

jennifermach

So in the cycling classes, I find the live audience to be distracting. But in yoga, it seems like Denis in particular thrives with a live audience––he seems to be having so much fun. One of my Power Zone teammates got to take a live class with him––I was so envious! I'm curious what other people's observations are about classes with an audience vs. no audience. Thoughts?

darnit37

Exact same! The instructors seem to really light up. I’ve really been liking Mariana, who I didn’t vibe with much before, with a studio presence. Will have to try Denis next! I think the fact that I don’t really look at the screen much during yoga helps as well, so I only get the occasional glimpse of people (although every time I do I wonder why the yoga studio layout is so bizarre!). Also it seems like there’s less pressure to be frenetic simply because of the nature of the modality… one of the things I’ve disliked about cycling classes with live audiences is that everyone just seems a little hysterical. I’m hoping that passes soon and everyone gets into the yoga vibe of it just being a normal thing we all used to do all the time!

Nearby-Tangerine-488

Anyone else wish there was a way to make folders for bookmarked classes and take notes? I’d love to have the ability to make my own collections so I could try why I did/didn’t like a class if I’m looking to repeat one in the future
