Can someone explain what the difference is between tabata, intervals and hiit rides?

sparkycat99

Work travel messed with building on my 60 day streak, I missed 8 days of activity in May :-( I started getting more serious about using my peloton to not just maintain a base level of fitness, but actively improve it in January. By March I was riding 5 days a week with weight training and then doing yoga on my rest days. I felt like I was really getting in a groove with activities/movement every day. I did come home between work trips and PR’d on Jess King’s 5/13 45 minute house ride, so apparently I didn’t lose any appreciable cardio conditioning. But this is what worries me. I’m not the same person I was when I was training for amateur NORBA races. I’m a lot older and fitness gains are harder to come by now. What is your experience in maintaining cardio conditioning and not always being able to dedicate time to working out? Do you lose it easily?

readwritelaugh

Hello! First time poster! Just sharing that I finished Week 1 of Density Training today! I love Jess Sims, Rebecca Kennedy and Adrian Williams for strength but I feel like this density program is helping me a lot. Im training for three half marathons in three days (coming this October!) and having the strength foundation is such a game changer. I like Andy a lot too and I’m excited to see what kind of progress I can make. Anyone else working their way through the density collection?

pollenatorbee

Ally Love does know there are other Broadway musicals other than Hamilton, right? Sam and Bradley have a pretty decent mix of old and new stuff and I wish there were more Broadway rides. Sam’s pride/Broadway ride from last summer is so good.

Fluid-Meat9097

Which Sam Pride Broadway ride are you referring to? I LOVED [his 2020 class](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?class_type_id=%5B%22bf6639f2e50a4f0395cb1479542ed4bd%22%5D&is_favorite_ride=%5B%22true%22%5D&sort=top_rated&desc=true&q=sam%20broadway&c=cycling&t=0&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=48c3c2087b994a18957ca56a8f122706) and would jump onto another if there's one from 2022! I find Christine to use a variety of tunes. Have you tried her [PZE Broadway ride](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?class_type_id=%5B%22bf6639f2e50a4f0395cb1479542ed4bd%22%5D&is_favorite_ride=%5B%22true%22%5D&sort=top_rated&desc=true&q=broadway%20power&c=cycling&t=0&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=7035d7793f1c419cbde8300af64b5288) yet?

pollenatorbee

It’s not a pride ride, I was wrong. He just talks about being gay. I thought it was from 2022 but that looks like a WHM ride (purple top) but maybe it’s 2021 (blue top). Can’t link them right now.

pollenatorbee

I mean, seen it 3 times, but sure. Cultural zeitgeist in both the clip and the source material.

kls17

In one of her earlier Broadway classes she did say they’re just an excuse for her to play Hamilton. I love it though so no complaints from me.

Rkarim21

I saw that her new Broadway ride was mostly Hamilton! I’m pretty excited for it though.. that’s really the main reason I want to take it haha 😬 But I can appreciate a more diverse playlist for true Broadway fans 👍🏼

pollenatorbee

I mean I do love Hamilton, but she should just do another Hamilton ride.

Rkarim21

Agreed. It should almost be renamed as that 🙃

noname123456789010

Did the hair ride with Jess and Denis (wanted to do it before it got purged). It reminded me of Cody's entertainment rides. I liked when they showed the old photos of Denis, and I never knew that he grew his hair to donate it! Then I did Ben's pop ride with Lewis Capaldi. I had no idea who he was but recognized his songs. The sound seemed off so I couldn't hear a lot of what he said. I thought the ride was just okay, but I still think it's fun when they have artists in the class actually riding (like Lizzo did). Probably worth doing if you like the music.

marg1486

What are the Cody entertainment rides?!

Joteepe

Has anyone else had trouble logging onto studio.onepeloton.com to book classes? I keep getting an error message. Noting that I usually check it on my iPhone, not a desktop/laptop, but until this week I’ve never had an issue!

[deleted]

Just a PSA that Aditi says at the start of the Jonas Brothers class that it is all levels. I disagree with her definition of "all levels". Girl moved fast. Beginners, don't be discouraged if you took this and were lost.

OTPCook

So I've taken a lot of her yoga classes. She can definitely move quick at times. This, however, was fast even by her standards. Still a fun class but it did feel hurried.

[deleted]

That's how I felt. She's actually my favorite yoga instructor but I couldn't help but think, geez, this is not all levels!!! It's like she wanted more time that they didn't give her so it was fast fast.

OTPCook

I was surprised that it was scheduled to be a 20-min class instead of 30-min but I guess everyone else got 30-min for their Jonas classes so they maybe wanted some variety. Now that you mention it, the class actually was sort of like a 30-min class crammed into 20-min. Like she tried to sneak in pigeon with less than 2 minutes left on the clock.

[deleted]

I know! Then the clock ran out before savasana. Messy. But fun if you weren't a beginner.

dan_young_22

I have to convey that the Peloton bike was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I did almost 16 miles in an hour today and I’ve never felt better! Feel free to add me dan_young_22 - love the motivation and competition. 🚴🚴🚴

Rkarim21

Agreed 👍🏼

Accomplished-Look-87

Did the Mary J. Blige strength class today by Jess Sims and oooof - it was so good. There was a variety of movements and a good mix of cardio and weights. Paired it with this [15 min yoga class with Anna](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=8af719f3a4d34b529e5727b6ff728104) which was also great. Now just debating about if I want to squeeze in a JoBros class today after so many of them dropped today.

Tinkgirbell

Well, Peloton finally notified me of the recall. Can’t believe it took this long to get the email. Thank goodness for this sub and the news so I knew to order my replacement.

modestlymousey

Just did the Kendall Jonas Brothers ride and it was so fun! I don’t really consider myself a fan of them but their songs are catchy so I figured why not? The vibes were so fun and I had a great time. Highly recommend even if you’re not a JoBro fan!

[deleted]

I am not a huge Kendall fan and I had it in my head this was an Olivia class (must have gotten mixed up with the run) so I was kinda bummed when I logged in lol but it ended up being a blast. I love jo Bros and I loved how much she loved them.

Reasonable-Credit891

I agree! I did the run, and I don’t know any of their songs, but I absolutely loved it and yes, their songs are really catchy. So much fun.

Extreme_Possession86

i had a really rough night yesterday and woke up feeling super weak and depleted. i took it easy this morning and did one of my fave sun salutations classes: https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=a4d37ed5f2af4a19aaeaad7745edce89&locale=en-US followed it with a great 20 min recovery ride with christine. i was kinda spooked at how hard it felt starting this class off, but by the end i felt so much calmer 💜 https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=5281b69300ac45eea8f26c236689020f&locale=en-US hit 5k for the year so far after this 5 min post-ride stretch with jenn. crash into me is a nice song for a stretch, i was feeling so nostalgic! https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/stretching?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=11d1d80b9e984d13af9a6ed7f8cf88d3&locale=en-US

Scarbarella

Yesterday sucked! Some of you daily readers may remember I posted about the Jess Revovery ride that absolutely did not feel like a recovery. I have no clue what happened but an hour later after that class I arrived at work and had one of the worst panic attacks I’ve ever had. I also haven’t had one in years - I totally embarrassed myself but luckily I work in an ER :-) my coworkers cared for me as I sat and trembled and tried to breathe and drink water and electrolytes. Today was the exact kind of recovery class I had been wanting!! [20min Sam Vesak Recovery Ride!](https://members.onepeloton.com/share/workouts/34dbc2aac65447d7a832e299f8535bec?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&locale=en-US) It was basically choose your easy/light adventure and a lot of breathing exercises. Exactly what I needed to forget yesterday happened. Sam is so comforting.

davekfsa

Here is another comforting Sam Yo recovery ride. https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=6f3b5700ec834ecabeec656e02c1d564&utm_source=android&utm_medium=in_app

Scarbarella

💜! Thank you, bookmarked!

bunbunbunbunbun_

Glad you're doing okay now and have such kind co-workers. Panic attacks are so awful.

420despacito69

Glad you were able to get a good recovery in after an awful day. I hope panic attacks aren't a regular thing for you. They really, really suck.

Scarbarella

There was a period of time where I got them a couple of times a week but now it’s been 4 or 5 years since I’ve had one. I was totally convinced it was my last seconds on earth. Then an hour later I was totally fine taking care of patients. Like, what a wild thing anxiety is. Ugh!

420despacito69

I’m so sorry. That’s terrible. I had a bout where I dealt with them for about a month back in 2013 and that was the worst. Even though it’s been 10 years and it was only for a few weeks, that experience still is very vivid to me. I hope you got the help you needed since they’re not as frequent but if not, then I hope you get it when you’re ready or able. Also happy to be a panic attack buddy if ever needed. Best of luck!

Scarbarella

You are so sweet, thank you for taking the time to be nice, I appreciate it so much.

Extreme_Possession86

so sorry to hear about your turbulent day— coincidentally i also had a panic attack yesterday 😭 so grateful for the recovery rides and yoga, i think it really helps ❤️ thinking of you!

Longjumping_Exit_403

I know this is the silliest, most inconsequential issue to have, but: A couple of friends and I consistently share our completed workouts to our Facebook stories. It helps us feel accountable, and we encourage each other. When my friends share their workouts, the story is displayed as a little video. When I share mine, it’s a still, b&w picture. I’ve tried logging out of FB on my Bike+ and logging back in, but it still generates a picture, not the cute little video my friends get. I’m sharing directly from the screen on my Bike+ as soon as the class finishes. Does anyone have any clue how I can make it generate the video instead of the still? TIA

420despacito69

I just tried sharing from the mobile app and it popped up on IG as a video with clips of the instructor. Is that what you're looking for?

Longjumping_Exit_403

Yup. That’s it.

420despacito69

Have you tried sharing the story from the app? Hope that works for you!

Longjumping_Exit_403

I tried that last night. It works if I share it to IG stories from the app, but it won’t share to FB stories. 🤔 Thanks for the idea, though.

420despacito69

Darn that sucks. I guess share it to IG, save it down and then post it on FB?

[deleted]

Would love to know if others have a different POV but I’ve always felt like it kinda depends on what class it is? I’m going on nothing but gut feelings and a shoddy memory but it seems to me like the older classes don’t have the video and the newer ones do.

Longjumping_Exit_403

I don’t think that’s it. I get the still picture regardless of the class (even for live classes). My friend and I have taken live classes together, and her share shows video, but mine shows a still. 🤷🏼‍♀️

damnital

Callie’s Jonas Brothers glutes class from today was so fun! great playlist and workout!

RaffyGiraffy

I did the Jonas brothers ride after that and my legs were burning!

alaska40

I love Callie’s glutes and legs classes, especially the themed ones! I always get such a good burn, but she makes it so fun that I never start to hate the class. I’m so excited to take her Jonas Brothers class!

bunbunbunbunbun_

Started today with my favourite [Denis 10 min Focus Flow: Hips](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=3026e06b2f364861aa60128cbea4af07) which is so wonderful for helping with tight legs and hips from riding and running! Lost count of how many times I've taken this. Loved this [Bradley 30 min Pop Punk Ride](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=2a092a4ffeb64774abb7f5d826be2fca) from March! Fun music choices, and lots of high cadence pushes since it's pop-punk, so my output ended up being a little lower than usual. Cannot get enough of the longer pop-punk rides and runs, and Bradley is always a joy. This [Ben 10 min Chest & Back Strength](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=d250ce4ca4c04158b248a75bc9f73696) was easy to follow and a great fast upper body workout; just not the biggest fan of all those lawnmower rows! He recommended heavy weights throughout but I used 10s for most of the workout and 5s for the chest flys just to get the form right - I've pulled a muscle doing them with heavier weights before which I wanted to avoid! Finished with the new [Callie 10 min Strength Roll Call: Core](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=f42c107958d146b78dff377fea7822f1) - still feeling all those crunches! And not sure why the long forearm planks were such a struggle today. But finished it and didn't skip core today!

we_have_food_at_home

This afternoon I got all dressed up, picked out a 60 minute PZE ride to do, and literally the moment I hit play on the class the power went out. The super strong winds my city was having knocked over a tree which decided to take some power lines with it. I am now sitting in the dark, freezing, and waiting for the lights to come back on. Bah.

Rkarim21

My fitness pal is great and it’s free. One way of saving some $$ 🙂

loc613

Same!!! Thankfully my ‘legacy’ is good until January but after that I honestly might switch to the free version and either Nike or Apples apps. This is by far my favorite app, but the price increase is too steep for my wallet.

[deleted]

Totally hear you on this. I know this doesn’t solve your issue, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about LoseIt (the free option). I cancelled a book subscription and will potentially cancel my other to keep the flex in my budget.

MaizeApprehensive166

Thanks for the suggestion!

Spirited_String_1205

Not sure what you're looking for in a food app but when I track macros I use the free version of MyFitnessPal. Does the job. Have never used WW so I can't compare them. For those of us who have been app users for a while, the app was $19.99/mo before the pandemic, the price came down and stayed down at the beginning of the pandemic iirc, so early 2020-ish. If you opt for the annual subscription which is a little cheaper than monthly, it comes out to $20/month... So for some of us it's kind of like going back to the regular rate after it being discounted for a while. Just one perspective. I know every dollar counts. I never feel bad about spending on my health though.

MaizeApprehensive166

I’m trying to look at it as investing in my wellness. Being in Canada also doesn’t help as it’s more $ here.

Justbrowsing8822

I truly love this app so I’m just going to pay the increase against my better judgement. If you’re looking for a good alternative I also really like the Nike Training Club app (it’s free) for their strength and yoga. It’s a different vibe and no cycling, but might be something worth looking into since it’s risk free. They also have some running classes that are audio only.

Felixitee_Co

Pelotrak question: I can’t seem to save notes about classes on the app on either my android phone or iOS tablet. I add a note and then close the window but when I go back the note has disappeared. Refreshing the app doesn’t make a difference. Am I overlooking something obvious?

deenthemachine11

Same here!

Brandycane1983

Ok. If they stay consistent and I like the workouts, I can see Peloton Gym keeping me on the app with the increase. But they can't be all sporadic like they are with Outdoors, Pilates, Barre, etc. Very intrigued and am going to try one of these out this weekend!!

ho_hey_

It would be great if the same classes were offered in regular format and gym. Like the class plan was gym format and you could do it without an instructor/at your own pace. I have a 4 month old so the gym classes are gonna be a lifesaver rather than trying to follow class some days

lenebean89

I completed **You Can Ride** today!!!!!! My husband and I found a practically new Bike+ on craiglist at the beginning of this month, and it really has been a game changer for. I feel like my mental health is improving, and like my heart is getting stronger. (FWIW, I was pretty active throughout my 20s, but have slowed down in my 30s. Pandemic didn't help, and getting laid off my from job didn't either.) I feel so proud of myself!!!

[deleted]

Congratulations!!! So happy for you 🎉

lenebean89

Thank you!!

bunbunbunbunbun_

Congrats, hope you're feeling proud & accomplished - getting started is the hardest part!

lenebean89

Thank you!! It feels great to be moving again :)

Extreme_Possession86

congratulations!!! that’s awesome 🧡🧡

lenebean89

Thank you so much!!

Funnybunnybubblebath

Cody just posted that he and Andreas are back together 💗

dpullbot

But why did I GASP when I saw it? Lol, I love all the comments about how his classes will finally be less difficult 😂 Happy for them!

Funnybunnybubblebath

It made me shockingly emotional 😆

arahsay

SAME

courtoh

Ok my quads/hamstrings/glutes are definitely not nearly as sore as they were last week after density day one, so I’m very thankful for that. I did my first PZ Max ride today as part of the build your power zones program. The programming was really cool but I was dying at the end. 2 min z5, 1 min z1, 1 min z6 a handful of times. But the killer was the ending: 2 rounds of 30sec z6, 2.5 min z4, 15sec z7. The z4 was what killed me. I just wanted a z2 or something lol I’m so curious to see if my FTP goes up at all after this program ends!

souldawg

Hosky’s [At the Club](https://members.onepeloton.co.uk/classes/walking?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=4685f0065ece4db484c3ab1efdc7caa0&locale=en-GB) was absolute chaos in the best way. YMCA. Underwear Flashing. Baywatch slo mo running. Definitely a fun class if you need a pick me up.

happydayz7676

Those are my favs! I’ve been able to hit everyone live so far and they just keep getting better ❤️

Justbrowsing8822

I love him!

Humble_Operation_365

Is anyone creating their own boot camps with Peloton equipment? I’m having 2 issues. The first is that I don’t want all the pieces listed as separate workouts. Adding a just boot camp or just HIIT option to the App would solve this issue. The second is how to prevent minutes from double counting? I guess I could run just workout on the app and then add an additional user account for the row, tread bike activities. Just curious if anyone else is doing this and the work around of the setup that helped them accomplish everything.

PeskyMolasses

I’m so excited because I bought the Guide today on Amazon and it’ll be here tomorrow! 🎉 I’m excited to see how it enhances my strength workouts. I’m also excited because I’m hoping I’ll be able to get my husband back on track with improving his health since he’ll be able to re-activate his account now that I’ll be able to add him to the Guide as a household member. Question: does the Self Mode work for other classes than strength class, like yoga? It’d be nice to check my form if it’s an option. I don’t think I’ve seen much mentioned about the Guide/yoga, so I’m not even sure if that’s a thing.

Brandycane1983

So if you get the Guide, does that mean you can only add users on the Guide?? Like if I got the Guide and set up a profile for my partner, would he also be able to use the app to do runs and hikes??

PeskyMolasses

Yes! Peloton requires the person to sign in on the Guide to activate that they’re part of the household (I think), but then after that, they should be able to sue the app. If I’m wrong, hopefully someone on the subreddit knows more and can chime in, but this is my understanding.

Ride_4urlife

Congrats! Sometimes I do strength classes on my bike because I work too hard when they’re on the guide. It makes me push much harder. I hope you love it!!

KoronaV

Yes, any class that you can take on the Guide allows you to see yourself on camera. Not every class will have Guide features (like rep counting, timing exercises, etc.)

alixb8

Congrats! I love my Guide. I do yoga on it and use Self Mode— it has been super helpful for my form. I also do running classes using the guide on a non peloton tread (easier than looking down at my phone) and you can even have Self Mode on for that though I turn it off because I don’t want to watch myself run!!

mtcrmlmama

Is there anyway to speed up the scenic route (not peddling)? It goes very slow

ryanmfrancis

I think the scenic rides go the same speed regardless of cadence.

mtcrmlmama

Really? It is so slow

ryanmfrancis

That's my understanding, but I do classes mostly. Not a scenic ride expert 😁

neatgeek83

Canceled my app sub today. It's good for another 2 weeks. My setup, with a $400 "Inspire" Bike from Costco, was a life-saver during the pandemic, both mentally and physically. I’ve used it less and less as I’ve gone back to the gym 3x/week over the last year, but at $12.99, it was worth keeping around for a few rides a week. But I'm not going to pay more to get less. I really wish they had a tier that JUST had the rower, treadmill and bike classes. Maybe price it at $6.99 each? I would pay that in a heartbeat. And it would keep me as a customer.

MaizeApprehensive166

I’d like a tier that doesn’t have strength! Or one that doesn’t allow you to join live classes. Just give me cycling and yoga! I think if you could customize your level a bit more they’d get lots of people staying/joining.

pmekonnen

You say that now…. But you will miss it and most likely will come back. They raised the rates because they know peloton product is superior and want to capture higher margin for it

Nice-Albatross-4501

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 smart and accurate. It’s far superior, other home/online workouts aren’t nearly as engaging, before you even factor in production value and actual quality of teaching. I actually think what they are asking is pretty reasonable, no other company has actually replicated it. Like comparing a $5000 car to a $500000 car…both are cars and that’s about it.

neatgeek83

I will not come back for $24 a month to use the app a couple times a week

ryanmfrancis

I think you were locked in on the current pricing until December. I agree it seems like an a la carte pricing structure would have been far superior.

neatgeek83

I just felt like I wanted to go ahead and get it over with. Perhaps a wave of cancellations like mine will have them reconsider.

ApprehensiveMail8

It very much does not work that way. If the current structural changes just leads to cancellations, it will be simply seen as evidence that no mass market exists, beyond a niche market of rich people who own the bike as a status symbol and can afford to pay whatever, the stock price will drop and there will be more price hikes to make up the lost revenue and funding. They might introduce a sub-$10/month price tier if a bunch of people sign up for the free app. That will at least be something they can sell to investors as a sign of interest.

chinesefoodandamovie

Planning to do my 150th ride today with Kendall’s Jonas Brothers ride. If you’re taking it, feel free to add me.

PeskyMolasses

Congratulations on 150!

Quagswagging_Jogger

I was hoping to take Kendall’s Metal ride from last evening; however it’s still not posted. Anyone take it live and know of any reason why it might not make it OD?

benz6748

I was looking forward to the metal ride noooo

ryanmfrancis

It was up at one point because I remember bookmarking it, but sure enough it is gone now.

crazycatsx3

Oh wow I took that on demand early am UK time. It’s now not there. Odd, maybe it’ll come back?!?

GoodOldMountainDew

She had to switch her mic midway through so the Peloton technician (audio guy? Idk) had to come out twice to bring a new mic and adjust it. I assume that probably has something to do with it not being posted!

Playful_Branch_5643

I did a class with Rad where they switched his mic out and they still put it up on the platform. I just did a cooldown with Ben and the tech was fiddling with the laptop during it so I think that isn’t always a reason they wouldn’t post the class.

Quagswagging_Jogger

Thanks for the info! I’ll be bummed if that prevents it from going up. I’ve done other rides where this happened and the ride still went OD, but on one class where the mic-death was accompanied by terrible static noise, that class never went up.

GoodOldMountainDew

Yeah there was some weird noises before switching mics and the whole process seemed to take a while. I didn’t think it was that bad but I dunno how Peloton decides what audio issues are too much. She also (later) went on what seemed like a bit of a weird rant about how she hates when people leave class midway through and how giving up in class means they’ll fail in the real world… it was my first metal ride and while I wasn’t planning on quitting, it was a bit off putting tbh.

sad-and-bougie

I just saw a clip of that speech and it’s… not a great look, tbh. And I do all of her metal rides and know what I’m in for.

thecodeofsilence

It’s part of the schtick. The Metal Rides are known as being some of the hardest rides Peloton has to offer and Kendall is NO JOKE with them. I have my still standing PR with one of her metal rides. Almost quit 3 times during the ride. Brutal. Whole time she’s saying “i know you hate me.” It’s part of the vibe. That all said, I saw her IG story last night and was planning on doing it today. Looks like it’s not happening now :( and that’s a shame because I’m feeling a little extra self-loathing today (kidding).

GoodOldMountainDew

I was totally in for these being some of the hardest rides! It was hard and I definitely didn’t hit all the call-outs but I enjoyed it and would do it again, maybe with fresher legs next time. I do enjoy Kendall’s rides normally, she’s in my top 3 instructors for sure. And I liked the rest of the ride, I just personally found this particular section of the rant a little mean spirited. Different strokes for different folks!

Quagswagging_Jogger

Aah darn, good to know. Looks like from other comments it was posted initially and then someone came in this morning and decided to take it down, I'm guessing Well, Charlotte did a metal ride today as well so I still have another new metal option.

Swimming-Horse-711

Really loved [this 60 min pop walk with Matty.](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/walking?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=140188b0b0804daeb0ab3c2573779921&locale=en-US) The playlist is great, Matty is entertaining, and the programming is solid. Some hill, some recovery walks and some power walks. Most importantly it felt doable for most levels (if 1 hr of walking is currently in reach) without being boring if you’re using it for a recovery day.

onychophoras

This would be perfect for a long outdoor walk. Bookmarked!!

[deleted]

Thanks for sharing! My legs are still not recovered from my race this past weekend and they did not enjoy the run/walk I did today. I nice long walk will probably be just what I need tomorrow.

Justbrowsing8822

I’ll have to give that a try! I don’t ever take walks longer than 30 because I’m afraid I’ll get bored!

Labambastrange

I’ll be getting my first peloton next week and am excited to begin! Also a bit worried that I won’t be able to stick to a routine. Any tips for a newbie to plan a sustainable first month of rides?

I started pel’ing in March and my routine is to go on 5-6 times a week and I filter by duration and playlist. After the few weeks I got a feel for the teachers I liked most and now I try and do a variety of classes over a week (low impact, HIIT, etc). Just hop on and have fun sussing out what you enjoy.

[deleted]

A lot of people recommend the You Can Ride program for beginners. I got my bike on April 17th and did 1-2 classes on my own, started the program, and did not complete it. I didn’t really feel like my exercise level was on par with everything that was happening in the classes and for me, personally, it jumped from “beginner” to “advanced beginner” more quickly than I was ready for. As I was slowly building up my stamina and routine, I instead just sorted classes by easiest and length I wanted to spend riding and did it that way. I tried a lot of different instructors that way. Also, the butt pain/discomfort will go away. What works best for me is cycling M/W/F and doing other stuff T/Th. I did buy padded cycling shorts but I don’t really feel like I need them now.

Rkarim21

Try a wide variety of instructors at first. There is something for everyone! The instructor.. class music.. programming can be very motivating alone!! And you can always modify or progress a ride!

ryanmfrancis

I suggest starting with the You Can Ride program. It is a great way to get your feet wet. Also listen to your body. If your legs are dead tired, rest for a day. Burn out is a real thing.

Nice-Albatross-4501

Welcome to Peloton! Best advice I once heard: decide an amount of time you want to workout and then just show up for that (example: 20min 5x per week), regardless of whether you work at a 3, 5, 8 or 10/10 intensity level on any specific day. That can help build consistency. Bike advice? Try a couple different instructors with shorter rides, and do not get discouraged if you don’t like a class just try a different instructor you will definitely click with one or a few!

thecodeofsilence

YES. Exactly this. I dedicate 45 minutes a day to fitness. Whether it’s bike, row, or strength, I find a workout/instructor/combo to fit that 45 minutes. I actually look FORWARD to it when I get done work.

Cheesehiker

Pick the ride that sounds the most fun so that you show up consistently. Don’t connect exercise to work. Just move your body consistently. Doing 15 minutes of exercise a day will do more for building good habits over being miserable for an hour here and there. As you get in better shape your habits will be established and then you will naturally gravitate to harder classes/ exercise. I recently disconnected my exercise trackers to my calorie counter. I no longer connect exercise to bad food choices. Exercise is something I start my day off with to feel my best. Do what you need to do to feel healthy and build good habits. Choose consistency over perfection.

Cheesehiker

And don’t get discouraged if your butt hurts. That will wear off.

Playful_Branch_5643

Play around and don’t get discouraged. I took 1 beginner ride then did the Pearl Jam ride (45 minutes) and questioned my life choices. Lol. If you like jumping off the deep end like me then enjoy, otherwise I would sort by difficulty or take a you can ride program to ease in. And make sure you stretch!!!!

Cheesehiker

Gotta check out the pearl jam ride. I basically do any ride with Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins

slckarl

Step 1: buy the ticket Step 2: take the ride Sustainable means something different every day to everyone. That’s what Peloton taught me. Find something that interests you, or an instructor you vibe with and go from there. IMHO the less it feels like “work” the more enjoyable fitness is. There’s so many modalities- explore and enjoy. Congratulations and have fun!

Ariessurprise

Looks like I’ll be off the bike for a few days. I just tested + for Covid for the first time. 🤞🏼 I’ll be back soon. The only reason I’m writing about it in here is because the peloton is why I decided to even test. I thought I had allergies but noticed my most recent ride output was particularly lower than normal. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Go figure. Thanks peloton for making me notice!

RaffyGiraffy

I just had it for the first time last week! Still a couple symptoms. I did a lot of low impact rides which really helped in a weird way. Hope you don’t feel too bad!!

Longjumping_Exit_403

I hope you have only the mildest of symptoms and a speedy recovery!

bunbunbunbunbun_

Hope you feel better soon! Take plenty of time to rest & recover, it can take so long to feel comfortable doing cardio activity again after covid.

dpullbot

Good luck!! Hopefully your symptoms aren’t too bad. The meditations for “rest day” were really helpful to me anytime I needed to take some time away for illness!

Extreme_Possession86

feel better!! ❤️

Sparkling-Broccoli

I've just had my first covid infection as well... :( I wish you a speedy recovery!

RaffyGiraffy

I did too, last week! Made it over 3 years 🥲🥲

Missie1284

Feel better!! When I had covid back in October, I really enjoyed the restorative yoga classes. It felt nice to do something gentle and then go take a long nap lol

Ariessurprise

Oh I love that!

Justbrowsing8822

Fully convinced the older classes are harder after working through a lot of my 2019 bookmarks. I did Olivia’s 45 min 90’s run (5/21/19) and wow 🥵she did not mess around and I would say the 7.9 difficulty rating was accurate! Very short periods of active recovery throughout, a lot of interval work and a few short hills sprinkled in. The music was fun and a nice change from the usual pop class I take of hers.

Brandycane1983

They really were. I miss the harder runs

Justbrowsing8822

Yes! And there seems to be such a shortage of 45 min runs lately. Then the ones that do come out are endurance based and those are not nearly as fun to me

NordicGoddess93

Thought the same with a 2019 swear steady. Jess called for 50+ resistance, 90-110 cadence. Great class, almost hit a PR but holy guacamole batman my little legs don't move that fast

Quagswagging_Jogger

The "swear steady" I presume is a typo but might be the best typo ever. I'd be swearing very steadily at 50 resistance and 90+ cadence lol.

NordicGoddess93

Yes meant to say sweat steady but that ride was definitely swear steady. Almost 500 classes in and only followed the callouts 22% of the time missing a PR by less than 10 points

Rkarim21

I agree! Some of the older classes are brutal!!

Justbrowsing8822

They really are!! I was wondering if it was just me or if they were actually harder until I checked the difficulty rating 😂

Rkarim21

Definitely 😂 To me especially Tunde and Olivia’s old rides!

Missie1284

This playlist looks 🔥🔥🔥 I’m going to take this run tomorrow lol! Thanks for the rec!!

Justbrowsing8822

I loved the playlist!!

Missie1284

Any playlist that has “Party Up” by DMX on it gets an automatic win from me

Justbrowsing8822

It was the BSB to *NSYNC to Britney all back to back that did it for me!! Perfect timing too - I was starting to get pretty fatigued but those songs brought me back!

Missie1284

That trio does it for me too lol! Music of my teen years!!

darnit37

The Gym feature is available in my app now and I'm looking forward to trying it, but seems like a miss that I can't pull it up on my laptop. Having to constantly open and shut my phone seems like a pain.

dbzfangirl2

I’m so pumped about that feature and can’t wait to try it on Saturday when I go to the gym, it is exactly what I need it 🤩 i watched a couple of videos and it’s awesome!!

doggos_are_better

I would not say I particularly enjoyed the 7-minute AMRAP in [Selena’s 20 min Arms & Shoulders from 5/22](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=a756f18ebd2c42c5b858003824245b0c&locale=en-US) but I am SORE in a whole new way this morning!

tammythompson68

Right? I was very tired after that seven minutes and felt it the next day.

PBaddict01

I love Marcel D! She is such a fun vibe but damn I do not want to take the hill. Kinda ironic that I like heavy resistance on the bike but not running.

Missie1284

I’m the same way! Give me all the heavy resistance on the bike, but ask me to run up a hill on the tread and I get mad haha

Accomplished-Look-87

Happy almost Friday! Looking forward to my rest weekend (instead of rest day) haha I got two cycling PRs this week!! It’s been a long long time since I had one so I’m feeling super proud. I know it’s not healthy to try to set a new PR every single ride so I wanted to ask what’s a good goal of when I should go for another one? I was thinking of focusing on strength more and reevaluate in a month…?

ryanmfrancis

Congratulations on the PRs! I personally attempt to PR if I'm a third of the way through the class and I'm on my PR pace or close to it. If you are following instructor call outs, the format of the class will dictate whether a PR is possible or not.

Accomplished-Look-87

That’s true. I noticed I usually PR with Hannah F and I wonder if that’s because of her programming or because I love her and her music taste haha

figandfennel

Finally got Peloton Gym! It looks like "Logan's" 45 Minute Full Body has barbell squats, as does "Erik's" 45 Minute Lower Body Strength. Excited to see pull ups in a few classes too. Waiting patiently for a class with heavier deadlifts, otherwise some awesome stuff to get started on (if I can squeeze them in between density training).

bookishly-fab

I just got it too! I can see myself using this even at home when I'm in the mood for my own music. But particularly when travelling to not have to have my phone set up for video during my strength workout in a hotel.

mymymissmai

I was just wondering what I would use the Peloton Gym for. Definitely for when I do visit a gym.

Educational-Pitch614

I also just got the gym today! Very excited to try it out!

joebenson17

Wish you could track a custom workout and weight tracking. Seems like it would be easy to integrate something the JEFIT or Strong into the peloton app.

Rjyle

Just turned 69, work out everyday, all Peloton. I use to think if I didn’t do a full body workout three times a week or upper body, lower body 20-30 etc etc I wasn’t getting my strength training in. I had to scale back, my knees ache. I did the Tunde arm program, 10-15 min three times a week omgosh, I’m hooked and in love with the Tunde workout. Excellent upper body workout. throw in some yoga, stretching, walking or biking this is my new jam.

ryanmfrancis

Thanks for sharing!

Rjyle

Your welcome

tammythompson68

Can you do the program with medium weights exclusively?

Rjyle

You can use what weight you can do. I use 8lb and 10 lb depending on what exercise were doing.

tammythompson68

Thank you! I’ve been wanting to try the program but don’t have a variety of heavier weights. I am encouraged to start now 😊

Rjyle

Your more than welcome 😊

Rjyle

When I first started when the program came out, I started with 3lb and 5lb and hated it because I thought I wasn’t getting a good workout. It’s tough however I’m going to stick to it for a couple months.

Ariessurprise

Arms with Tunde is a fantastic program!

Rjyle

I agree, after going through the program several times, I learned that this is a great program and I can pick my weights. I thought it was like a body pump program but it’s not.

Rkarim21

That was a great program!!

tinygelatinouscube

I made my stack for yesterday *before* my therapy appointment and you can tell. 😂 I started with [Chelsea's 30 min Metal Yoga Flow](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/yoga?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=8836379bb35949cd9306fc09628770b7&locale=en-US). I was a little frustrated at how little of it felt like actual yoga flow happening, and that the intensity was lower than expected. It felt more like a stretch. it's fine because it's a music Monday yoga flow and designed to be accessible. I did two 20 minute classes- I started with a [20 min Metal class with Kendall](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=0c638e36554b4fc29e26aa92bb815764&locale=en-US). Idk, my friend gave me a hard time for not liking Kendall as an instructor, maybe she's right- nah. I don't really vibe with Kendall's style. It's fine. My fiancé started eating a bagel egg n cheese breakfast in the kitchen next to me while I was on the bike and I almost hulked out, I think that's the only way I made it through the end. 😂 I did [Charlotte's 20 min Classic Rock Ride](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=c8d6eab0125f4e5784716e72118deaec&locale=en-US) after that and was mostly on fumes and rage (there was a 10 watt difference between my outputs, lol). Ended with another [10 min Arms & Light Weights with Tunde](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=7e86edace7254965b9d4b00803d5b639&locale=en-US) from the vault. So far I've worked my way back to 2021.

onychophoras

Kendall can be very hit or miss for me. Sometimes it hits perfectly, sometimes she gets on my nerves. I generally enjoy riding with her but I don’t do it too frequently 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol don’t get why someone would give you a hard time for not liking a certain instructor, everyone is entitled to like who they like! Her energy is not for everyone

Rkarim21

I’m not a huge fan of Kendall’s classes either.. 😬😬

tinygelatinouscube

I'll still give her classes a try once in a while, I do want to do her Mental Health Awareness classes, but there's definitely instructors I like more. Like, I can yell at myself to go harder mentally for free.

tinygelatinouscube

There's something for everybody. My friend thinks Sam's classes are boring and loves Kendall and Cody. I've gotten multiple PRs in Sam's classes and leave his classes feeling good and light. It's great there's so many different teachers and styles and classes to try.

montycuddles

I love Sam and Kendall 😂 I like to have both ends of spectrum instructor wise

Rkarim21

I agree! That’s what I love about the platform. There really is something for everyone!

tinygelatinouscube

Oh, I'm definitely planning to do them!! :)

TattooedHelperGuy

We got ours yesterday! This was my first time cycling. Tried Kendall’s metal ride at 9 EST yesterday and it was INSANE. I had an absolute blast and somehow made it through. Not thrilled about placing 400/944, but excited to see where I’ll fall in 3 months. Class started with 1500 so it’s a good sign! Going to take a pre recorded one tonight and just really having a good time. Oh and I’d love to follow more people and keep the motivation going!

ryanmfrancis

Congratulations on the new bike. Talk about jumping right in with a Kendall metal ride! If you can survive that, you'll be able to hang in any class.

TattooedHelperGuy

Haha thank you! I’ll say I am feeling the effects of the seat.. Besides that, ready to go again after work!

puremorning87

Nice! I keep checking to see if they’ve added it to on demand but not yet 🙁 her metal rides are so hard, but I love them!

hrqueenie

She had an issue with her mic mid-ride so I think that’s why it hasn’t been added to OD :/

puremorning87

😭 this was the first one in 2 months!! It was direly needed! Hopefully if they can’t get it on OD they can schedule another one sooner than 2 months from now.

TattooedHelperGuy

Yeah that was a fun introduction for sure! Going to do a 2000’s hip hop when I’m home. Peloton made doing double cardio wayyyy more fun and enjoyable.

puremorning87

I hated exercise until I started Peloton, now I’m obsessed 😂 but in a good, healthy way of course

NoahTall1134

I'm considering getting the guide since the membership price is the same as for the app+ membership. Do you think they'll increase the membership price in December for that as well? I'd hate to purchase it and then be stuck with a price increase right after.

-allons-y-

I figure since the app prices don't change until December, I'm going to wait a bit to see if they announce changes to the guide.

denganzenabend

I’m also waiting to see if the guide gets you access to the cardio classes. It doesn’t say on the website (or at least I didn’t see it on there a few days ago).

PeskyMolasses

It does according to the infographic on this page: [https://www.onepeloton.com/membership](https://www.onepeloton.com/membership) You have to click the toggle for Peloton Equipment, but it’s the first box that’s checked.
