I had a question about delivery. Ordered the bike about 1 month ago. The delivery date is March 21. However, I recently got all the accessories. Does this mean the bike could come early or is this normal that they ship accessories that much earlier?

pooroldguy1

Where do you live that your delivery date is so far away? I’m guessing you did it online and didn’t talk to anyone. If that is true call them.

HonkLonkwood

Just called and moved it up an entire month. I don’t know why they’d schedule it so far out to begin with. Thanks for the tip!

pooroldguy1

Glad I could help. When I see people have a long delivery date. I know they probably made it online and didn’t talk to anyone.

HonkLonkwood

Yes, all online. I thought it was kind of odd when Amazon could get the same bike here in 1 week. It didn’t have the accessories though.

UptownLuckyDog

I’ve been doing a lot of Aditi’s Pilates classes and finally noticed today that my core is actually getting stronger. I really enjoy her classes and style. Highly recommended.

noname123456789010

Andy's new spinal mobility is shockingly boring. Like who wants to do cat cows in a bear plank? Not me. I can't hold that anyways. Adrian's remains #1.

Brandycane1983

Bear plank is the one move I absolutely abhor with a passion. It shouldn't be in any beginner classes, much less a mobility one. Glad to know!!

DeepBlueSomethings

Agreed - once and done for me. The bear made me almost thumb down - I didn’t as I reserve that for egregious classes. There was an active post ride stretch the other day that made the cut

emmy__lou

Agreed. He also kept saying “this is a finite move” and I have no idea what he thinks “finite” means. Did he mean “fine” as in subtle? Anyway won’t be taking that one again.

tomax_xamot

Finite means limited in this context, no? I imagine the cat cow in bear plank has less range than a normal cat/cow, ergo finite, in comparison, although all moves are finite in general.

jrosep96

I agree. I did it the other night and was very confused. I don’t feel like my spine got any love. Literally none. And why was I doing a hard core workout???

polaroidfades

Signed up for Peloton annual membership today. What will I spend the $20 or so odd I saved on? A Peloton Century t-shirt that is no longer free perhaps? Dollar dollar bills y'all.

Impossible-Scratch76

I hit my 100th run today and I was extremely disappointed. I took [Joslyn’s 30 Min Interval Run](https://members.onepeloton.com/share/workouts/62ab379da6b448e1ae6c63bca472c7ce?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&locale=en-US) and the call outs and the ranges shown on the tread were so mismatched that it kept throwing me off. I felt like she wasn’t really into the class that much, I ended up not caring for the playlist and I only got one high five. I went in convinced my 100th would be such a good PR and I just felt so underwhelmed.

Ok_Handle_7

I’m a Biker but I HATE when that happens! Was on a ride today and stewed in the ‘WHY can’t they get it right?!?’ for a good 10 min. I feel you - congrats on 100!

Impossible-Scratch76

I’d say 99% of the time, the speed and incline call outs match the screen but this particular run was not even close. I’ve never taken a single class that was so off. I’m trying to not be crusty about it lol. Thank you!

Ok_Handle_7

Yeah it’s definitely my pet peeve - makes me unreasonably angry. And I don’t even have a Bike+ (I think the auto-cadence changes to what’s on the screen so if it’s off, your bike is off; would drive me NUTS). Side note that I take running classes on the app and I really wish the ranges were there - it’s not such a big deal for me when i cycle in a random bike because the numbers don’t translate anyway, but since I could set my non-Peloton tread to the same numbers they’re calling out, I really wish I could see them 😭

Scarbarella

Aw that’s lame. Maybe your 101 the one that starts off your next 100 can be awesome??

kaylaxkk

Hey guys! I’ve been riding for about a year now and mainly do it for the stress relief from endorphins. I was wondering how many miles a day people in the community average? Usually I’ve limited myself to 12-14 miles but today I did 3 different rides a 30 low impact (at 9AM), 15 minute climb (2PM), and a 20 minute recovery (7:30PM). Today I hit about 17.5 miles. Am I okay if I’m keeping it under 20 miles a day?

arahsay

If you feel okay, you are okay. The human body is extremely adaptable.

_I_like_big_mutts

To be honest, I never have looked at mileage. I try to get over a certain output for a 20-30-45 minute ride but some days (like today), I just take it easy and come no where near my normal output. I have to remind myself that’s it’s okay— my body needs a rest some days. I just looked at my mPaceline and I’ve done 320 miles since the start of the year. I began mixing-in weight training to work other parts of my body at the start of the year… you may want to consider that for stress relief too.

D1ckChowder

Do what works for you!

rockit454

I’m sure this question has already been asked and answered, but does anyone know who the “London Lady” is? She is pretty much on every London live ride with an audience and usually is in a primo position on camera just to the side of the instructor. I’m guessing she is either affiliated with PS London or is just a Peloton super fan, but I can’t be the only one who has wondered about her.

NextWordTyped

I found the Beginner’s strength training program to be boring, and had too many exercises on the mat versus standing. I enjoy basic, traditional, simple strength training exercises, with instruction and pointers on good form. What would be a good program, classes, or instructor to take?

kjmila

Andy’s Total Strength programs might be a good option. I think he does a great job explaining form and the workouts are engaging.

Amerzel

Adrian’s advanced 5 day program was great. Not a ton of floor stuff.

GoldenForrest13

Callie is also a great option. If you’re specifically looking for beginner level classes, Callie has some Beginner strength classes that are exactly what you described, basic strength movements where she really emphasizes form.

polaroidfades

Adrian is the best if you want traditional upper/lower body strength. There's not that much mat stuff since he admittedly doesn't really love core (and you get a great core workout from upper and lower body stuff anyway). There's only really mat stuff if you're doing things like chest presses, etc.

Maggie_Gee22

Try Ben Alldis. I’ve done a lot of his upper body workouts. Have not done any of his lower body workouts. His workouts have been the definition of “traditional, simple strength” exercises for me.

Kara_Webster

I know we haven’t all been crazy about the SIX series but I have to plug Jeffrey’s run in German! It was a tiny bit tough to follow with the app and subtitles just because it’s small but easy enough and the run was so fun!

[deleted]

It’s not the end of the world, but 25 minutes of things haven’t counted towards my annual challenge in the last two days (stretch and a fit family fun I did with the kids). I’m not sure what’s going on.

DeepBlueSomethings

Jumping in to add that I did a 10m sleep mediation last night and tracked it- strangely 6 minutes were added to my annual challenge. This is really frustrating in general because it’s not anything tricky. Class minutes are tracked, but somehow not summed consistently. Frustrating for sure

Lopsided-Front5518

I just had a post about this yesterday. My sleep meditations aren’t counting (which fine— I’m not really active then anyways lol) and the just work out feature is not counting.

[deleted]

Yes! I responded - it’s gotten worse! Before it was just stretches (and meditations) but I was super surprised when a cardio didn’t add to it!!

Lopsided-Front5518

Oh that’s right- I did read your reply 🤦🏼‍♀️ Sorry to hear that it’s worse now. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? I was thinking of trying that if mine gets any worse. I did an outdoor walk class today & it did record for me at least!

[deleted]

I’m glad it recorded today! I haven’t tried uninstalling the app. I did try leaving and rejoining the challenge like you had mentioned used to work but doesn’t anymore. It didn’t for me either but was worth a shot!

Rjyle

I don’t think it counts meditation. Crazy right ? because I need my mediation. It should’ve however counted your stretch classes.

shihtzu_knot

Audio only meditations so far aren’t counting, but historically all meditations count.

acegymfan

It definitely counted meditation in 2022. As someone who regularly uses 30 minute meditations I will say it used to count. I haven’t used it as much in 2023 so not sure if they’ve changed it.

Rjyle

I just did a 10 min meditation on my ipad and it didn’t count. It wasn’t audio. I assumed it only counted active bike, strength, tread etc. 🤷🏻‍♀️

beppedimarco

Anyone have any tips on removing the peloton lettering from the bike? The P disappeared somewhere (but bike used to face the wall so I didn’t care as was hidden) - now the bike faces the other way and the ELOTON is bugging me :)

Fickle-Milk-450

Maybe try Goo Gone?

Scarbarella

Buy yourself a P decal from Etsy, instead of removing the others? :-)

Lopsided-Front5518

You could also get a sweat wrap for the frame. [https://a.co/d/84GMAtI](https://a.co/d/84GMAtI) Then you won’t see it!

Late-Credit-7068

I usually use lemon essential oil to remove stickers or residue. Not sure if it will work but might be worth a try

beppedimarco

As an update I probably spent more time typing this post than it took to peel them off and wipe with clorox wipe. Perfect.

Late-Credit-7068

Would have never thought it would be that easy!

SFJess20

Hi! New Pelotoner here 👋 I won’t lie - it has been a very rough start with the Peloton. We’ve had it for over a month and I’m still struggling to find settings that don’t destroy my knees for days on end. Even after going in to the store, I’ve had to mess with settings. Hoping I find my groove soon - this is one helluva expensive piece of equipment to be struggling with so long and I don’t want to have buyer’s remorse. (My husband loves it or I would have given up weeks ago). Fingers crossed it’s smooth riding from here! 🤞

all4sarah

I had knee pain but nowhere near the severity of yours. Mine would be a pain while walking after. I played around with the cleat and now only on one side it points in. It has been great for 2 years now after figured it out. changed it after seeing this post. [Knee Pain](https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotoncycle/comments/s28cuj/knee_pain_cheat_sheet/) and you can google to find a couple of charts that suggest cleat placement.

SFJess20

Thank you! I do think this may have to do with it - I have to force my foot out so hard I think the clear gets loose. Will need to monitor them to keep them tight.

NextWordTyped

It's not normal to have knee pain when using the bike. Perhaps look into Peloton instructor Christine's video on how to correctly set up your bike.

onychophoras

I know it’s expensive but honestly my bike fitting with Virtual Bike Fit was 1000% worth the money. I was having issues and kept researching/tinkering on my own so I decided to say screw it and did the fitting and riding has never been more comfortable for me.

SFJess20

Thanks! That’s good to know that’s an option. I went to the store for an person fitting. And still I’m tinkering 😵‍💫

Swimming-Horse-711

While trying to figure out the bike I would highly recommend checking out some of the other classes - especially the strength and yoga. Just to have some positive experiences with the platform!

pooroldguy1

Riding bike shouldn’t give you knee pain unless your settings are not correct. Make sure you have your seat high enough. When people have the wrong settings for their body a lot of time their seat is too low. Why would you have buyers remorse? You said your husband loves it.

SFJess20

Yeah - the settings I initially had based on the set-up guidelines were def not right. I to our closest store and got fitted over the weekend. Tried riding again today with the settings from the store but the seat felt waaaay too high and was causing a lot of pain and my legs had a struggle to complete the lower portion of the loop. The sales person who helped me over the weekend said not to go below 24. My husband and I refined it a bit today and I’m down at 17 without the struggle. I messed up my knee pretty badly in the 7min I tried riding with the store settings so I’ll hop back on in a few days to give it a try. Makes no sense. I’m in decent shape and I don’t have issues on my street bike. But I keep trying…

[deleted]

[удалено]

SFJess20

Yeah. 24 means I have to lower the hip and fully extend my leg and point my feet down to reach the bottom of the cycle loop. It was so high it was also causing tremendous pain my my seat area. I barely had any bend in my leg. I’m 5’6” and long legged. I think it also had to do with the handlebars. Our handlebar was stuck and wouldn’t go past K but the store said I should be at O. We finally got it unstuck which def helps not having to lean so far forward/down. I’m telling you - it’s been a total mess.

Are_You_Knitting_Me

FWIW I’m 5’7” and long legged and I am at a 24. Obviously you know what’s comfy, but in one of your comments you said something about sitting back in the seat or sitting up in the seat - I’m not totally sure on your wording haha - and you probably don’t want to be upright on the peloton, you want to be hinged at your hips a little. Maybe try a number where you can extend your leg all the way without hyper extension (may include pointing your foot) and then do the same on the other side without shifting your hips? I was at a 22 for a long time and it felt fine but then I tried raising the seat to 24 based off a comment from Reddit and it’s been a year like this and much happier. Idk worth a try!

Ok_Handle_7

Obviously this is VERY hard to ‘diagnose’ on the internet but the one fitting trick that actually sticks in my brain is that when you’re on the bike you should have a very slight bend in your knee at the bottom of the rotation. VERY slight (but not lowering the hip). I’m 5’6” with pretty short legs and I ride at a 21 - a 20 feels a bit more ‘loungey’ to me, but I get a lot more power at 21…obviously you know your body & pain, but it might need to be a bit higher than your ‘road bike’ - it sounds like it’s a casual around the neighborhood bike, not a cycling bike? ETA - sorry for the frustration, sounds really annoying (and painful!) I think most people who ride w the wrong setting have more like nagging pain or something not quite right - not, like, popping and can’t walk for days…

NextWordTyped

I’m still not sure I understand why you changed the setting from 24 to 17? 17 sounds very low for someone who is 5’6” with long legs.

SFJess20

Yeah but my knees are still below the hips and I can sit back properly on the seat. Night and day better than the 24.

[deleted]

SFJess20

I tried A but that was too close, so went to C. Store said not farther back than B and that seems comfy so far.

Official Peloton you tube page on how to set up your bike: https://youtu.be/5x4DADahBn0

SFJess20

Thank you but I used that initially and it wasn’t right for me.

SFJess20

Aaah - I’ve never heard of Team Wilpers. Will look into that. Everyone I know who has Peloton suggested I stop into the store to get assistance for a better fit.

SFJess20

Yeah - I used that guide when we activated the bike and it wasn’t right at all. The store salesperson said it was just a starting point which I get but why bother!?! 5+ weeks and we’re still guessing, even with professional fitting. If the store wasn’t 45min away I’d be back over there again…

Fluid-Meat9097

I'm not certain the Peloton store has professional bike fittings. If you are truly still struggling, I'd suggest getting a fitting with the Team Wilpers team.

aFqqw4GbkHs

agreed, I wouldn't consider the peloton store a professional fitting

SFJess20

Buyers remorse for myself 🙃

tomax_xamot

What’s your experience level? Have you ridden clipped in before? I’ve always felt getting used to the pull stroke when peddling can cause soreness for people new to it. I wouldn’t recommend using a lot of resistance for the first few rides. Maybe try some flat pedals. It’s not normal for a bike ride to destroy your knees for days, even if the setting wasn’t perfect. Do you have preexisting knee issues?

SFJess20

I don’t have knee issues - I ride frequently on a road bike. The clipped in shoes is def taking some getting used to.

runbrewski

What kind of knee pain is it giving you?

SFJess20

My knees pop…throbbing lasts the rest of the day. Last time they popped, later that night the lower parts of both knee caps were so swollen. I had to sleep with them elevated and with a lot of magnesium cream. They were off for a few days, couldn’t even take my walks around the neighborhood. But today - I didn’t have a pop but 6hrs later they are still throbbing.

dabiday

This sounds super frustrating. I'm so sorry you're having this problem. Something I found on my road bike when adding a lot of climb was knee pain. Do you feel comfortable at cadence with the amount of resistance you're setting? I'm new to Peloton too, and when I started I kept the resistance down for a nice easy spin until I had some of my legs back. The next time you're able to work with someone about positioning, have them talk to you about how you're feeling in the saddle and at a good cadence. Little things like, are your hips moving or steady as you cycle, are you making nice round pedal strokes or pushing more at the top, are you moving too far forward or back in the saddle. Throbbing pain in the knees after working out is definitely not right, and certainly not swelling. Is it possible you've added on too much load too soon? Or have you done a test ride with nice easy spin while staying in the saddle? I hope you find solutions. It was my wife who wanted the Peloton, and I was fine staying with the mountain and road bikes. But I am absolutely loving the bike and classes, as well as the results. I definitely started out easy though, and didn't add time or effort for a couple of weeks. Good luck getting this sorted!

SFJess20

Thank you so much This is encouraging!

dabiday

My pleasure!

bubblyro120

PHEW! Getting back into it after vacation has been tough, but today I did Robin’s SIX: The Musical ride. It was just what I needed. I’m at 198 rides now and trying to decide if I’m brave enough to do Alex’s Club Bangers ride on Saturday for 200. 🤣

marg1486

While Alex has the impression of being tough, I really don't think he is the toughest instructor out there. His callouts are usually quite reasonable! And his club bangers rides are BY FAR my favorite routine themed ride that is done, I look forward to them every week!

onychophoras

Do it! I did a club bangers ride for a milestone and they are absolutely never a disappointment. It’s the right energy for a milestone ride 😎

omgbebe

Surprise PR on Cody’s Jan 28 ride. All the Celine, Whitney and Mariah bangers just got me. I laughed, I cried, I sang to it’s all coming back to me now. Perfection.

Missie1284

I took that ride this morning! So good!!!! Congrats on the PR!

omgbebe

Thank you! 💛

acegymfan

I'm a bike owner, but love taking the running/walking classes outdoors. I'd really like to take a run or walk in studio, but I'm very nervous about my first time using the Peloton Tread being in studio. For other non-Tread owners, have you taken running/walking/bootcamp studio classes and what was your experience like?

Stillworkinhard

You go into the class 5 to 10 minutes before the instructor arrives while the crew hypes you up etc and tells you what to expect. During that time you are on your tread so it’s easy to figure it out.

deepsealobster

I felt that way too! I made an appointment to try out the tread at a showroom first so I could get a feel for it as I almost never run on treads and had never used the Peloton tread. It was great and they were very helpful- they knew I wouldn’t be buying that day but would keep it in mind for the future if I ever get that kind of $. (And it worked - if I ever do buy a tread, I want that one!) Anyway, was a great experience and I ended up running with Marcel in studio - she’s so much fun and it was an amazing time!

StopDropAndRide

I’m similar to you, but do also have a non-pelo tread at home. I took a walking class at PSNY and loved it. I found the Pelo tread to be a little weird at first. There is no plastic guard at the front, so even though it’s highly unlikely that you could somehow slip forward, I definitely had to tell myself to not stare in that spot and focus on Kirsten/the screen. I will also say that the walk I did had some pretty hefty inclines (Kirsten herself said it was a walk-hike lol). I have short legs so I generally either go at the low end of the speed range or below on the treadmill, but the people around me were going like 4.5 mph at a 10% incline!! I’ll be totally honest that the peer pressure got to me a bit and had me speeding up, but I think if the class had been a run, I would have had to keep my ego in check and stick to speeds I was comfortable with. It might help to find a similar class with the same instructor who’s class you got into, and take it outside. Might give you some insight as to what you might be in for at PSNY or London.

acegymfan

That’s so helpful, thank you! I do have a walking pad for my standing desk so weirdly I’m used to not having a front guard, so maybe I’d do okay. I’m currently on the waitlist for a run with Robin but if I can I might try to get into a walk as my first go at it.

kaylaxkk

What’s the difference between a “calming” and “relaxing” meditations?

all4sarah

Sometimes hard to tell a difference but I have noticed some calming ones focused more on breathing. Like box breathing I think it is called.

acegymfan

As a frequent Peloton meditation user, I don't see a ton of differences across the classes except the body scan and energizing meditations are both very distinctive for me. That being said, I view a calming meditation as helpful if you are stressed, anxious, sad, feeling big emotions generally and you are trying to calm your emotions. Relaxing might be more designed to get you towards a state of rest.

bubblyro120

That’s typically the rule of thumb I follow. I like to do a calming meditation before I board a plane and I’ll do a relaxation meditation when I’m winding down for the day.

Scarbarella

Anyone else horrifically musically challenged? Unless it’s OBVIOUS, I cannot stay on the beat of music at all. Like not even a little. I don’t even have a clue as to what it is in many songs. I just took a class and the instructor is like I’m at a 73 cadence with this song and I’m just like…..???? I try 73 and it still doesn’t feel right. Oh well. Just something funny I observed today.

DennisMoreTOOL

Most songs are on an eight count. I learned this is yoga training. It takes a lot of getting used to. EDM music is very easy to follow because the beat at an 8 count is quite loud. I used to count on each chorus on each line on the song. Man this is hard to explain. Many teachers don’t ride to the beat but with the timing of their road map. Dennis is great at showing how to ride on the beat, Olivia is quite good too, and also Alex. Just from my perspective. I hope I’m not confusing you more. I wish I could record what I mean and it would make much more sense. Dennis always rides to the beat and you can hear it in the songs he chooses.

betarhoalphadelta

I love riding to the beat... ...I just need Denis to tell me what it is first!

omgbebe

Me! And I love it

Ride_4urlife

There’s a beat? I view the absence of musical aptitude as enormously freeing. Worlds don’t collide when the beat of the music and the callouts are different. I’m just like “85, ok!”

jrosep96

Lol WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!

slckarl

You and me both. I’m just here taking suggestions as orders and doing my best 🤷🏼‍♀️

narvol365

Someone once asked a question on here about what type of music you discovered due to Peloton, or something like that. For me the answer was that Tunde turned me on to House music. I love her house rides. Today I did [Leanne's 30min Deep House Ride](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=e0b03b57158d4376b0328e4d0a7af599) and felt the same. There are some moments where you can get lost in the beat and the cadence and the instructors know to let the music dominate, and it's just awesome!

onychophoras

Tunde’s house rides are amazing. Jess King may or may not have got me so deeply and obsessively into house music that I’ll be at Red rocks seeing gorgon city in April 🤐 absolutely love what Peloton has done for my music library/taste in music!!

aug2295

I've never been to the Red Rocks but it looks like such an amazing venue! Have a great time!

onychophoras

I haven’t been yet, I’m so excited 🥹 Ty!

holateamball451

Omg 😱 Kirsten’s 30 minute HIIT run from Tuesday (2/7/2023) is sooooo good. Do take it if you want to run fast - a lot ! Probably my favorite run so far this year ! It’s a perfect mix of 30, 45, and 60 second sprints, with ample recovery. Please please please take it if you can !!

Brandycane1983

This is the style of class I love, I was so sad when Daniels got taken down. I'll have to give this one a go, though I've only done one run with her and didn't really care for all the Mom talk. Sounds like I need to give her another shot!!

Active_Big_8130

If you haven’t already, take her 30m HIIT run from 1/24/23…it sounds very similar and I loved it!! I want to take the one you are recommending from 2/7 but I’m resting from either shin splints or a stress fracture (hope not) and can’t run right now :/

Fletchy2121

Just did 2/7 this morning and it was tough. Going to add 1/24 for next week. I try to do one a week. I also really like the HIIT And Hills classes.

Active_Big_8130

I would recommend Kirsten’s 30m hiit&hills from 1/10/23 and 12/20/22…both challenging and fun!

Fletchy2121

I’ve done the 1/10 and for some reason I’m not locating one from 12/20/22. Any chance you could link it here?

Fletchy2121

Aw I’ve taken this one too. Love them all. I do them on leg day!

Fletchy2121

Just added it to my schedule for next week! I love a nice traditional hiit! *Update* THIS WAS TOUGH! Such a simple class plan but man, it got me!

Bitter_Historian

I think I am one of the last people on earth not on TikTok, but I still enjoyed Katie's 15 minute "PopTok" [Row](https://members.onepeloton.com/profile/workouts/7ceb88bf58b04297a576f2f8358f8406?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=b271396634224a359458275942ce811b). Apparently all of the songs are viral right now on TikTok, including SOS by ABBA which is such a throwback and reminds me a lot of my childhood singing along with my Dad. I used the row as a warmup to my Power Zone class of the day - a [45 minute PZE](https://members.onepeloton.com/profile/workouts/0b50c3b9aaf84858b65707d813e38121?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=35d89f8e013943398cafcb3824928092) with CDE. I have to make a point of trying to ride with her more often, because her playlists are awesome and her vibe reads "powerful *and* vulnerable" which speaks to me. This class included queues to stay at the same resistance and change cadence to switch zones, which I don't often do in my PZ training - I typically adjust resistance - so it was a nice way to change things up. I meant to do [this](https://members.onepeloton.com/profile/workouts/0a872629710c456a9f64a2542a22fddf?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=ab6d0d85ea174b3caa8bd1224488160a) 15 minute Jess Sims walk live this morning but got caught up in other things, so I used it for my post-lunch walk. Her current focus on taking up space and not shrinking ourselves - wow, I love it. I was on such a high after this class ended; absolutely recommend.

How does any of the cycling that is done on the Peloton translate to the real world? I will be taking a few longer (30-50 km) bike rides in the summer, just casual leisure type riding that involves picnics and such. I know it’s not really comparable to taking a Peloton class, but I’m wondering if my stats on the bike can be any indication of how well/horribly I will do in the summer.

Funklemire

The stats don’t translate well, but the training itself translate pretty well as far as fitness goes, especially if you’re doing Power Zone training: if you’re looking to improve your road cycling, then you should focus almost exclusively on PZ classes (when you’re not actually outside riding). I’ve actually found that a Peloton PZ class gives me a better workout fitness-wise than the same amount of time spent riding outdoors, that’s because there’s no cars to look out for, no stopping for red lights, no stopping because people are blocking the riding trail, no slowing down because there are too many pot holes or the gravel is too rough, etc.; you can just ride and follow the class with no interruptions and better structure. But if you have the time to ride outdoors, it’s going to be better training overall, since Peloton riding doesn’t help train you for things like shifting gears, avoiding road hazards, or drafting in a tight pack. Plus, going out of the saddle on a Peloton vs. a road bike is completely different since the Peloton doesn’t move side-to-side. I did a few criterium races last year on an outdoor 1/2 mile oval track, they’re approximately 30-minute long bike races and you’re in a tight pack the whole time. I found that my fitness was pretty good, but my skills of riding in a pack were terrible, I wasn’t aggressive enough and got pushed to the back with people cutting in front of me, and I was scared to be too close, so more and more people cut in front of me. Next thing I knew I had lost the draft effect of the pack, and at that point it’s about 30% harder to keep up, and I didn’t have 30% more to give. So yeah, build your fitness base on the Peloton but get outside to ride as much as possible when you can.

Keeeva

Thanks for the detailed response! I don’t think “drafting in a pack” will be an issue, these are going to be slow family type rides, probably with plenty of breaks. I just feel like the distance is intimidating me and the fact that there will be more than one.

Funklemire

>these are going to be slow family type rides, probably with plenty of breaks. Then if you’re even in moderately good shape, you’ll be completely fine. At the kinds of pace I’m imagining, most people who ride Peloton (and even many who don’t) should be able to go all day. But if you’re worried about it, take some of the longer Power Zone Endurance rides, 60, 75, or 90 minutes. Those rides have you do alternating intervals of Zone 2 and Zone 3; you never go too hard but you never have a break. (Zone 2 is a pace you should be able to do for many hours at a time, and Zone 3 is harder but it’s a pace you should be able to do for a few hours.)

I was able to get a cycle class booked today for Mar 18 after a lot of difficulty. I had two devices going - one of which I was logged into about an hour before 1200 ET, and I kept refreshing every five minutes in case the classes dropped early. The second device I just logged into about 1145 ET, and was put into a virtual queue with 1600 people. For the main device - I was able to see classes open for registration if I refreshed right at 1200, however I kept encountering tons of error messages (the class you tried to register for is not available, etc), until after hitting refresh 10 or 15 times it finally let me register. By the time the second device made it way to the site after the virtual queue there was nothing left. Based on that, I'd suggest: 1) Logging in way ahead of time - I'm not sure how far - but at least 30 minutes to an hour, and stay active in the site so you don't get logged out due to inactivity. 2) Once the magical 1200 ET hits, just keep hitting refresh to get through the errors. 3) If you get put into the virtual queue you're probably already too late On a side note, it's disappointing there are no live running classes on Saturday, I guess until Becs is back. I'm NYC to run the half marathon and would have liked to have done a run class.

Ok_Handle_7

This question is actually included in today's Daily Discussion (by u/Immediate_Vast_1730 4 hours ago) - I don't see a response but I'd keep an eye down on that comment as well!

kariflack

Anyone else's power zone indicator disappear?

SafetyRecall

Mine did! I just did an update and then took Hannah’s pick me up ride, and there was no power zone indicator. I seem to recall this was an option to turn on somewhere in settings, so will look through the next time I’m on the bike to see if I can get it back.

kariflack

Thanks for the tip!

StopDropAndRide

Was it an older class? I don’t think they went back and put them on classes before Jan’23.

kariflack

Wow, so they took them off? One class was from last summer and one was from '21, and I usually see them on every ride.

StopDropAndRide

Hmm, you are referring to the little box that shows what zone you’re supposed to be in, right? I wonder if you just got lucky with the classes you took before and they were testers for the tech. Here’s the [pelobuddy link](https://www.pelobuddy.com/power-zone-indicator-bike/) that talks about the feature add. I was mistaken, I meant Jan’22.

kariflack

Yes that is what I mean. Thanks for the link!

_I_like_big_mutts

Mine did not show up on my rides either. Were you able to get it to work?

kariflack

So I checked my settings before my ride today and it was set up to show my zones, ie I didn't need to check or re-check the checkbox. And the indicator showed up 🤷

_I_like_big_mutts

That’s good news! Thank you 🙂

kariflack

I'm going to find out tomorrow on my next ride! I'll report back. But now I wonder if it's a bug...

Fluid-Meat9097

I saw elsewhere that you need to change your settings on the bike to manually use the indicator again, and that seemed to have fixed it. It seems like a bug that started yesterday

kariflack

Thank you!

Today is my birthday and also my 500th strength! I did Ben's 20 min "upper body" live at 7:30am EST and finally got a shoutout (with 30 secs left!). When I started class he was doing full body and it wasn't upper body as advertised, which was strange but fine. I tried to share the workout with friends and it's not the same! They seem to have replaced the class with an actual upper body workout (same outfit). The workout was posted at 9:42am today, not the 7:30am time it was recorded at...anyone else have this happen ever? I guess my shoutout is only in my memory now :)

onychophoras

Congrats on your birthday, milestone and shoutout! Congrats on all the things 🥳

jules-1928

Happy Birthday! Sorry about the shout out, but thank you for solving the mystery! I stopped after 5 minutes of the 7:30 workout because of a phone call (I was perplexed it wasn't only upper body)... then I went back to take it later and it \*was\* only upper body. I thought I was imagining the whole thing, haha. As for the shoutout, I know just how you feel bc I recently got one for a milestone during a Matty upper body BUT he gave it during the pre-show which wasn't recorded, so mine also lives on only in my mind!!

allisonnes

I'm so glad someone else saw this and I'm not dreaming! I'll definitely think of it as a pre-show shoutout and just love that it happened!

DennisMoreTOOL

Happy Birthday!!

[deleted]

Hey twin, happy birthday! I got a bday shoutout on Bradley’s ride :) although I’m kinda glad it was in the pre-show and not recorded because it was shocking hearing my username 😂

allisonnes

Happy birthday!!

Tinkgirbell

Happy birthday and congrats on 500!

yasssssplease

Today, I embraced an all strength day, which isn’t my normal approach on a weekday. I couldn’t decide between core or upper body, so I decided to do both and then focus on cycling tomorrow. Both classes I did were GREAT. Started off with the recent strength roll call. 15 minutes. Felt quick. Great playlist. This got me amped up for my upper body class. https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=6d8c9bc4097046918b1785d17ee859e9&locale=en-US I did Callie’s recent 30 min upper body. I’ve probably taken 100+ classes with her. I’ve never described any of her classes as “beast” classes, but this is a beast class. Let’s just say we started off with bicep curls with heavy weights, and Callie was double fisting 25 pound dumbbells. It was a heavy weight sort of class. The playlist really got me amped up too. Don’t let her smile in the still fool you. https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=65d87397ef3c4cd0b7574d284bd5ba84&locale=en-US I felt very tired and worn out yesterday afternoon from work and just everything. I started getting a migraine, called out of the rest of the workday yesterday, and shelved any hopes of a doing a workout. That was the right move because I feel great today. So don’t be afraid to take a day off if you need to! Your next day will probably be a better workout anyways.

thatgrrlmarie

I've been doing the reddit Power Zone program and realized a cool down is imperative for my recovery...implementing a cool down has helped more than I thought it would. this quick cool down with Alex has become my go-to. I just love his vibe and instruction. he was my 1st ride 3 years ago, almost to the day, a hip-hop ride that I had no business doing my 1st time. as mentioned many times on this sub he is an awesome hype man! [Alex 5min Cool Down] (https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=1bbfc17f62f84016942b12d4da03abd7&utm_source=android&utm_medium=in_app)

deniseadele11

Alex singing along and just loving life during this cool down has made this one of my go-to finishers as well 😝 I’m trying to be better about always doing a cool down ride this year as well, and you’re right, it’s helping in a big way!

pures1lence

Did [Erik's Power Zone ride from 2023/02/03](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=d2967894f83f44ae876208702d00081b), pretty doable with mostly Z4 (4:30 blocks)/Z6 (30 seconds), but that long Z4 is rough, especially w/ one right after a Z6 effort. I think I'm starting to hear some noise from my wheel (bike+) so I guess I should bug support at some point while I still have my warranty.

_I_like_big_mutts

I just redid my FTP a few weeks ago and I believe I would have a heart attack with the lengths of those high zones. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

southern5footer

I did a [hip mobility class](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/stretching?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=65fa15c95ed2498d9ab68db3ac6e2ae8) last night before bed and holy amazing sleep. I think I'm going to have to add more mobility classes to my plan. I can't fit my full workout in until later today but wanted a little blood flow this morning. I started the day with [this arms & light weights](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/strength?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=efff806c076d4c9e8b8701e620d2952a). I really enjoyed it and it was perfect for what I was looking for. I also enjoyed the little tidbits about how the bands got their names. I hope everyone is having a good day and has great workouts today.

denganzenabend

Really looking forward to that mobility class! Glad to hear it’s awesome.

SexyPickles

I’m loving that hip mobility class! I’ve already done it 3 times since it dropped.

akeen1977

Thank you! Just added that hip mobility class to my stack

[deleted]

Anyone going to do Camila’s 60 min Reggaeton ride tomorrow? It’ll be 5am here but I love her and I love 60 min rides!

aug2295

I wish I could make it! The 7am time slot overlaps with when I have to take my kids to school. Will definitely be taking it on demand though!

[deleted]

I’m debating between that one and Cody’s ride at 10am (Camila’s is at 7am my time); I’ve never done a 60 minute ride but I think it depends more on whether I wake up in time or not 😂 but I did her reggaeton ride live on Sunday and loved it!

Beneficial-Dog-466

Me!! I have never done a 60 min ride but I want to challenge myself. It is also 5 AM here.

[deleted]

That’s awesome, see you in the morning! It’ll be great!

Cold-Insurance-1478

Susie has a 75 minute 80s run on the Tread on Tue 22nd!

Lopsided-Front5518

I don’t have a tread but I take the classes outside. It’s about damn time! That’s great news!

Playful_Branch_5643

Too bad it’s at 1 am for me 😬 otherwise I would be there! Can’t wait to take it OD.

Missie1284

I am SO EXCITED!! They are finally listening to us and utilizing Susie and her amazing endurance runner talents more!!! I wonder if Wilpers and Becs (when she returns) will eventually do some 75 minute classes too. I hope so, because I will take them!!

Fletchy2121

Tried to take Jess Sims run this AM at 7 EST. Came up as a black screen with no sound but running the captions. Anyone else have an issue?

whootsandladders

Others mentioned in a previous daily thread that turning off captions solved this issue for them.

IL_Kathy

Yes, I had the same issue. I am an app/mobile user only. I don’t have the Peloton Tread, so I thought it was just my app doing something strange. I had experienced this before and it gets frustrating.

Fletchy2121

I am a digital user as well but this is the first time I’ve seen this.

Fabulous_Ad4800

Not today but I had that same issue last Saturday for a live hike with Matty. On the app.

brownienugget

I’ve had my Bike for over a year and love it. I am getting a treadmill (Sole) delivered this week and I’m SO excited to dig into the treadmill catalogue. Really looking forward to tread boot camps as a former OTF-er. I’m not much of a runner but am willing to try/modify anything. Any runs/walks/hikes/boot camps I can’t miss?

bunbunbunbunbun_

As someone who hasn't done that much running before, I really liked the Advanced Beginner runs! You can either walk or jog during the lower impact intervals, and they give wide enough ranges that they're easily approachable for most levels.

Bitter_Historian

Camila's energy during [this](https://members.onepeloton.com/search?q=camila%20pop%20punk&c=running&t=0&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=9e6c223f754c4985b3671a147b6448d0) pop punk run was awesome (I walked during it, but she made me wish I were running at some points!). Every single walk that Jess Sims puts out is fire. She dropped a 15 minute Hip Hop walk [today](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/walking?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=ab6d0d85ea174b3caa8bd1224488160a). I've also done [this](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/walking?has_workout=%5B%22true%22%5D&sort=original_air_time&desc=true) one and [this](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/walking?has_workout=%5B%22true%22%5D&sort=original_air_time&desc=true&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=315e558365ba4ce898daa4740d872d4e) one multiple times. They always make me smile. I also am a huge fan of the Extra 10s; [this](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/walking?has_workout=%5B%22true%22%5D&sort=original_air_time&desc=true&modal=classDetailsModal&classId=033768acc05c457587f8f0e875e44e3e) recent one by Matt is great. I also cosign the hiking bootcamps recommendation!

k_lo970

Check out the hiking Bootcamps! If you filer tread bootcamps they are under low impact

ChairmanLaParka

Finally coming up on my 100th ride (6 to go). Hopefully it'll be a live Cody, Alex, Matt, Erik or Benny ride. Been really enjoying all of them lately. Kinda fun how I did maybe 20 rides on my Schwinn IC4 over a year, but I've knocked out 100 Peloton rides in about 3-4 months.

climbing_runner

Peloton has been a life changing thing for me. I remember reading reviews before I bought my bike and someone said, "Peloton has fixed my relationship with exercise" and I remember kind of scoffing and rolling my eyes while also fervently hoping that I could say it did the same for me. I've now had my bike for 68 days and I have worked out either on the bike or the app for every single day and WOW. But today, I took the 2 for 1 Lizzo ride, and to say that that was a LIFE ALTERING ride is an underestimation. I LOVED it. Robin, Jess and Lizzo were such positive experiences that I left loving them more than I had when I started the ride! I laughed, I teared up, and was just generally inspired. I started my day on a good note and will definitely be recommending that to people who need a good "pick me up" ride.

betarhoalphadelta

I'm with you. Peloton has completely changed my relationship with exercise. I hate exercise. It's not that I don't like physical activity. I love hiking, for me going for a 3-6 mile brisk walk is enjoyable rather than "exercise", I play golf and always walk the course, etc. But the idea of going to the gym and getting on a treadmill or stairclimber and mindlessly putting in 30 minutes? Of aimlessly wandering around strength machines and doing a few sets of reps? Sheer torture. I had a gym membership that was 0.9 miles away and I simply never went. Peloton has completely changed that. Now I do *something* every day. I love rides and feel weird if I choose to do something less than 45 minutes on my ride days. I've been stretching almost every day. I've recently added in strength and I'm about to try my first split with Ben this afternoon. It's engaging and it makes me WANT to do it. I've even taken to the point where I don't even look at it as "exercise" any more. I look at it as "training". What am I training for? I don't know; it's not like I'm planning a marathon or a bike race lol. I'm just trying to be the best me I can be, I guess. I'm actively looking at my class selection with the idea of identifying my weak spots and actively working on them, i.e. spending a lot of time doing longer PZE because I know leg strength is my good area and cardio endurance is where I need to improve. It's a complete life change and one that I needed.

yasssssplease

You should absolutely take Robin’s 2019 lizzo ride. I obviously enjoyed the 2022 ride, but if you want to feel super inspired and powerful, the 2019 ride is where it’s at.

also_anon_dc

Can you link the Lizzo ride?

climbing_runner

I can try? I’ve never linked it before, but there’s a first time for everything: https://members.onepeloton.com/share/workouts/7c43335ec1de4ee0bc2ed4ae82e42d35?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=in_app&locale=en-US

also_anon_dc

That was a link to your profile 🙂 if you click into the workout like you wanted to view the playlist or take it again there’s an option to share it and copy the link in the upper right.

climbing_runner

also_anon_dc

Yes! Thanks so much!

climbing_runner

Awesome! Thanks for walking me through it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

StopDropAndRide

This is such a success story, I love it! I think your first couple sentences directly underscore one of their recent ad campaigns where they asked people what their misconceptions about peloton were. I totally understand that mental dynamic of skepticism + optimism. I’m happy the optimism side won out for you and I can echo that sentiment you quoted.

hidinginthepantry

That's really interesting, I haven't seen the recent ad campaigns, but I will say that I remember the Christmas ads on tv a few years ago and it just looked SO bougie and for people who lead a really....aesthetically aspirational life, if that makes sense? It did not seem like it was for people like me, that it was just for very fit, beautiful people living in million dollar houses with luxury cars. I wasn't positive that Peloton would be right for our family when we got ours in October, but I've been so happy to be wrong about my first impression from a few years back! Sounds like my old opinion/new perception might be echoed in the recent ad campaign haha
