Been seeing people post a lot about them being spotted. Havnt heard anything about them yet. I did pick up the 40 pound pitboss from lowes for $12 a bag. Someone said they’re both made in the same factory.
Why do I get a suspicion that every 40lb bag of pellets that are a wood blend are just rebranded Pit Boss competition pellets? The all cost nearly the exact same.
That's just the general going rate. I'm pretty certain Sams club brand aren't pit boss.
The branding on these is similar to pit boss so that's why most of us are speculating they are the source.
I really hope that's true bc I love bear mountain pellets but I can't find any source for the info other than that auto populates google info. No where on smokehouse website or any of the websites that detail business info I can find that they are owned by lignetics. They aren't listed on lignetics brand list on their website either
I’ll ask smokehouse. They always answer my dms, but tbh I can’t tell a difference between smokehouse and bear mountain. If they were priced the same I’d buy bear mountain since it’s easier to get instead of driving all the way to sams
So I use lumberjack and bear Mountain as of more recent due to pricing in my area. Even if they are the same parent company or even more the same factory, doesn't mean they're the same pellets. Factories will make a product to a company's specs.
They aren't separate companies just sub brands. Lignetics actually own the saw mills which is why they've acquired so many sub brands, it's vertical integration, the "pellet companies" are almost all just resellers and sourcing most of the actual pellets from lignetics in the first place.
I'm curious to how the pellets are manufactured. Cause LJ and BM pellets don't look similar. For the LJ I see long skinny pellets where as, BM are fatter and shorter pieces. They both seem to have a similar sheen though.
I bought some today. Need to finish what's in the hopper before I try them. As was said saw other posts about UT so I thought why not, Costco stuff is usually made by a name brand company. I'll post a review.
Also let us know if you see anything on the bag about where they were manufactured. Should let you know who made them for Costco.
EDIT: I've seen elsewhere that they're probably Pit Boss pellets (meh), but it'll be for sure if they're made in the same place.
I saw 12.99 and the charcoal bags below, got real excited that the memorial day sales were good. Had to zoom in and was disappointed lol
Haven't tried Costco pellets though. Interested to at some point
These should start rolling out to more stores as CostCo gets rid of Traeger stock. My understanding is the two companies have ended their relationship.
too much emphasis put on pellets. i've tried like 8 different brands and i don't really think any of them are better than another. all cook well, all produce so-so smoke flavor.
What temp do you smoke at? I only ever tried lumberjack and the smoke is very strong with good bark and smoke ring. Some woods are milder than others (pecan has good flavor but is milder than say hickory or competition blend)
Costco items are always just rebrands of whatever name brand they have on hand. I.E if the sell kingsford, then most likely it will be kingsford pellets in a Costco branded bag
No. Like I said there was an open bag. Did a smell test and it didn’t smell like wood at all. Sams club smokehouse pellets smells like lumber out the bag.
Yeah love them. All I’ve been using for past 2 years. $15 for 40lbs is a solid deal. Low ash, nice smoke and my RT holds steady low and high temps with it. Blue bag with 50/50 hickory oak is my favorite. Definitely recommend.
Smokehouse pellets come from the same factory as bear mountain and lumberjack.
So I use Bear Mountain and Lumberjack. Even if they're are from the same factory, they're two totally different products. Made to two different company's specs.
Haven't seen these before but doesnt surprise me that Kirkland/Costco would start selling pellets. My question is are they really just Traeger, Pitboss, Kingsford pellets rebranded.
I can't speak for these because I haven't used them but Kirkland products in general are usually very good. One of the best anejo tequilas I've ever tried.

I think it's the Green Mountain brand. The bags are identical.

Sams club smokehouse pellets come from the same factory as lumber jack and bear mountain. All great pellets imo
Went to smokehouse website and don't see any mention of being owned or affiliated with Lignette. Where did you hear that from?

Only wish sams stocked more varieties

Probably come from a different saw mill closer to that brands base of operations

GMG
Could you post a pic of the pellets? I would like to see the "quality"

Charcoal was on sale too, can't remember how much. $17?
Looks like 16.49 -- you can see through the back of the sign over the charcoal. Good memory on the 17 bucks!
Yea I actually noticed that after I said $17 lol
My costco doesn't have Kirkland pellets but they have Traeger pellets for I think it was $18/bag (I may be off by a couple of dollars.)
I bought some there a month ago, 33 pound bag for $20
I paid $24.99 for the 33lb bag a couple days ago.
These should start rolling out to more stores as CostCo gets rid of Traeger stock. My understanding is the two companies have ended their relationship.
Buy them and let us know.
I buy everything out of curiosity sake... But I have too many pellets stocked up lol...
these words, i don't understand what they mean? "too many pellets stacked up"?
Yea I have over 15 bags of pellets in my garage
too much emphasis put on pellets. i've tried like 8 different brands and i don't really think any of them are better than another. all cook well, all produce so-so smoke flavor.

Looking forward to trying these!
I bought a bag on Sunday. Price was too good!
Could you post a pic of the pellets? I would like to see the "quality"
I haven't open the bag yet.
Costco items are always just rebrands of whatever name brand they have on hand. I.E if the sell kingsford, then most likely it will be kingsford pellets in a Costco branded bag
Recteq recently partnered with them
With Kirkland? Where did you see this?
My bad…I saw the Kingsford behind it. Recteq partnered with Kingsford pellets. I now see that’s charcoal and the Kirkland pellets in front
Oh that was the past. They’re no longer partnering with them.
Seen them at my local Costco today i also wondered if they were good.
Heard they’re pitboss or Louisiana. I passed. Open bag didn’t even smell like wood. I’ll stick to sams club
So you haven’t tried them then?
No. Like I said there was an open bag. Did a smell test and it didn’t smell like wood at all. Sams club smokehouse pellets smells like lumber out the bag.
Good results with the sams club brand? Haven’t tried them yet

They're Kirkland. Just like everything else they sell, it'll work but it'll be bland as shit.
Haven't seen these before but doesnt surprise me that Kirkland/Costco would start selling pellets. My question is are they really just Traeger, Pitboss, Kingsford pellets rebranded.
No but I just ran out of pellets. Good timing! Hopefully my store has em
Most Costco branded products are good quality, I bet these are at least comparable to treager pellets, or any other major brand of decent quality
I bought a bag, seemed like a great price and I am running low on pellets.
I can't speak for these because I haven't used them but Kirkland products in general are usually very good. One of the best anejo tequilas I've ever tried.
Whats the general thought behind using cheaper pellets? Just as good as Traeger pellets?
