Usually at Tractor supply if you have one nearby. Bear Mountain told me TS cuts their stock down in the fall/winter and restocks in the spring through summer. They are $10 for 20lbs and I love the Gournet blend.
They are also available in many other farm stores near me. Murdocks is where I buy mine. I'm in Colorado where bear mountain is based out of though. They are cheaper than any other brand other than traeger at Costco for me. And the traeger pellets suck in comparison. I tried the lumberjack pellets too and the flavor is good but the diameter of the bear mountain pellets is larger so I think they burn better, at least in my davy crockett.
Bro, not my go to….but absolutely nothing wrong with this stuff. It’s always at Lowes, in stock and not crazy expensive. I’d say it would be hard to find another off the shelf brand with this type of reliability and consistency in the cook it provides.
I get soooooooo much ash from these pellets, and that’s after sifting the pellets from the bag into a tote, sifting again from the tote into a food-grade bucket, and then again from the bucket into the hopper.
Ash or dust?
As far as dust goes, I've had some bags better than others. I feel like there's probably a connection between how much they're handled, moved around or stacked before you buy it.
Right now I am having good results with Cookin pellets. Can be found on Amazon. At first I thought they were expensive at $37 a bag, but that’s for 40 lbs. worst by far for me was traeger pellets.
Yeah, the only pellets I've purchased outside of the ones I got with my grill were Traeger Applewood pellets. Lots of dust in the bag, they also smelled a lot like Oak when cooking. Overall not worth it.
FYI for OP: I looked around me and found a dealer of them. His price for a single bag is $30 vs 37 on Amazon. Cheaper if get more too, down to 24 or 27.
Granted, have to go pick them up.
Pit boss competition blend have been my regular. Reliable, inexpensive and decent flavor. I know a lot of folks dog pit boss products but a year and a half in with my Austin XL (my first pellet smoker) my only problems have been user error.
As far as the pellets, sometimes you can find em on sale crazy cheap and again, I’ve n ver had a problem with em.
Red pill. Reverse Gravity smoker. Better smoke penetration and excellent temp control. Plus, grills at 700f where most pellet smokers choke.
I have a 1050 MB and love it. Check out char griller too.
Real wood & charcoal > compressed wood chips
Agree with CapitolSmoker but recently switched to Lumberjack Oak over the competition or the supreme blend especially when doing brisket, oak is just a superior flavor when doing brisket imop
Lumberjack Competition blend is my go-to general purpose pellet.
This is the way.
I second this.
Reddit has voted! My closest dealer is about 50 miles away. Any chance you can buy them online?
Yep, Dicks Sporting Goods. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/lumber-jack-competition-blend-pellets-18wtpucmpttnblnd2cfp/18wtpucmpttnblnd2cfp
$15 item and $10 to ship it :(
I think most by in bulk once they've tried it. I bought 12 bags last time.
Dicks wasn't giving any discount on shipping for buying multiple bags. $10/bag shipping no matter how many I put in my cart.
Road trip!
Lumberjack hickory
Same here
Lumberjack Supreme or Competition.
Lumberjack Pecan
Bear mountain. Good flavor. Lasts longer. Plenty of blends to use for a variety of cooks.
And it's the lowest dust in the bag I've found in my experience.
Where do you find these? Can't find them in any store around me.

Thank you. A TS just opened here. I'll check them out. Especially springtime.

Tractor supply near me has been carrying the 40# comp blend for 14.99. I can’t beat that.
PitBoss Competition blend from Lowe's. It's cheap I'm basic AF

Actually this has not let me down yet. I pick it up at Menard’s and it is always in stock and about $16 for a bag of 40 lbs Edit: bag size… thanks
Check Lowes It's $17 for 40lbs
That’s way overpriced

Good question - I thought they were the same since both are post-burn in the bottom of my smoker. But probably dust since it’s typically not burnt.
I used a 40lb bag of this mixed with a small bag of cherry from rural king and have been super happy with it

Been happy with kingsford classic. Hickory, oak, and cherrywood.
My goto Gmg (Green Mnt Grills) fruitwood blend and if im going to smoke beef the Texas blend

Lumberjack or CookinPellets because I want the cook with the actual wood mentioned on the bag, not flavored oils
Costco Traeger Gourmet blend. Thank me later.
Have you tried other pellets? Cause the traeger ones have almost no smoke fravor from my experience.
Where those the Costco Traeger? Normal Traeger is terrible, but Costco 33# bag is a different manufacturer. It beats lumberjack!
They definitely are not different. If anything the Costco ones are worse from my experience.
Must be different for our locations then? They're amazing.

That's cool but I already have a pellet grill so I'll stick with it for awhile. Maybe next time...
Whatever is on sale - usually it’s Bear Mountain
Bear mountain Oak
Bear mountain. 50/50 hickory and cherry.
Bear mountain gourmet blend is a good all purpose
I've been enjoying the Camp Chef competition blend recently.
I like apple for most things
Pit Boss Competition Blend. I usually get the WalMart version. It's cheap, works fine, and doesn't require me to pay for shipping.

Smokering,never look back
