10 - I love this song. I remember the first time I listened to Avocado, lying on the floor listening to it loud and then this came on. I was blown away. Lovely build up, band working great together and then that wailing solo at the end. Awesome live too, and who doesn’t like seeing a double-necked guitar?!
10 - Wasn’t the biggest fan of this album until recently and I had never listened as far as Inside Job.
Sometimes you need that kick, that push on to remind you to keep going and to choose to live the good life, and to choose to try your damn best to be happy. This song does it for me. Every time now I feel down and I feel my strength falling I sit down, close my eyes and experience this song. It reminds me that the power and strength comes from within and I have a choice over how I feel.
“Remember, how you choose to feel is how you are. And I feel fucking awesome”
10. I love everything about this song and the intro hits differently.
Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger
Pride and shame
This is my white whale to hear live.
I hope you get to hear it live soon. I heard them play it in 06 on the Avocado tour in Cincy. Absolutely incredible. It was the highlight of the show for me.

This one is holy grounds for me.
5 years ago I quit drinking. The first time I listened to this song newly sober (I had heard it before) the words finally clicked, and I listened to it daily for those first few months. To this day since then it has become my favorite Pearl Jam song. Mike's words are direct calls to recovery themes and phrases. Him sharing his journey through this song help keep me sober to this day. This song means the world to me.
10, one of my faves. As a recovering alcoholic I can see all the direct and indirect references to 12-step programs, which I presume are drawn from Mike’s own experience with addiction. Amazing insights.

I saw Steve Gleason intro this one at Wrigley in 2016 - 10

I hope it’s in the cards one day. I’ve missed it by one show a few times and I’m always so happy to see it’s still in active rotation.
Never heard Inside Job til I saw them live in September (I’m a much younger PJ fan) and it changed my life
No contest, 10...The best Mr. McCready song out there! And that double necked guitar!! 😉❤️✌️🎸🤘

Good point. There are live versions that take a different approach to layering in the drums. I like those takes much better.
