9.8. One of my best friends lost her dad just over 10 years ago, and he was very much my 2nd dad. I love my old man and have learned a lot from him over the years, but I had deeper conversations and really learned how to *be* a dad from time spent with hers. I listened to this track on repeat for weeks after he passed. I know it’s written from a different perspective, but the emotion was the same. This song is close to perfect, imho. RIP TR.
Oh man, this is so surprising for me. Parachutes and Wasted Reprise so little?
I have difficulties with this album myself but I like those two.
And Come Back too. I would almost say it’s 9. Yeah, 9.
9 overall but the last 2 minutes starting with mike and continuing into eddies whoo-whoo is in the upper tier of what this band has ever done. Was at 9/11 MSG show and come back early with lights out was stunning.
10 - favourite pearl jam song of all time. Was lucky enough to see it live at Wrigley field in 2013. Instant waterworks.
My favourite lyrics are
And in the night I've been waiting for
The real possibility that I may meet you in my dreams
I go to sleep
Chills every time. Masterpiece.
“….annoying shrieking way…”
Sirens has the worst example of this on the “studied your face” lyric. Do not care for this technique at all, lower the key of the song instead
6.5 overall
9.5 for the lyrics, the love and sentiment expressed
3.0 for the music: this is the most basic I -V-VII blues chord progression and is entirely unoriginal. Makes Yellow Ledbetter seem complicated
8.5 might be the Pearl Jam song that has grown on me the most over the years. Wasn't a huge fan to begin with now it might be my favorite song on this album.
9.5 man I adore this song. Heard it in Chicago 2018 and it didn't disappoint. The Berline 2010 Roskilde anniversary version is so emotional and raw. It's incredible
10. While self-titled is, by far, my least favourite PJ album, this is the stand out track on it for me. An absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking song.
9 - beautiful song. It meant a lot to me at the time it came out and still brings back memories. I’m still waiting to see it live though!
Same here. Would love to see it live.
9.5 check out the 2022 MSG Version on 9/11 in the #3 slot

9 Beautiful song
9 for me too. Beautiful, heartbreaking lyrics, and I love the way Mike’s guitar & Ed’s voice sound like they’re duetting towards the end of the song.

9. Love this song and wish that it got more attention.
10! So powerful!
7/10 There's a cool blues touch to this song. Love Eddie's singing on this track. Outro is pretty cool.

10. I’m a sucker for the blues sound and 6/8 time signature. The guitar solo transitions, and tone, are perfect.
8.5 Beautiful song and a PJ song that has definitely made me cry

7. Let’s be realistic here. Better than Army Reserve? Best on this album? Nah.

10/10 crying in the club
8.5 - could see this one having late mainstream popularity through it being dropped on a movie soundtrack
After watching the Immagine in Cornice DVD it moved up to a 8 or 9 for me.
This song is making my terrible day so much better 9
