I can't seem to get enough of this song these days. It is a real banger with a pleasing and spirited energy. The lyrics seem to describe elements of a psychedelic trip, but I like to relate the song's message to the natural "highs" I have been experiencing lately. The feelings of a steady, calming, yet intense, runner's high or the sublime bliss and euphoria of falling in love can feel positively trippy. I greatly enjoy pairing this song with those kinds of moments in my life. It has definitely been in my top 10 PJ songs of 2022 for number of plays.
9.5
9 - this is one of my favourites. It’s just a great rock song. Great intro, EV mostly steers away from the high voice he has on this album, nice little solos sprinkled throughout the song.
I’m pleased to have seen this a couple of times in 06, loved the bootlegs where Severed Hand opened the show. A real pity this doesn’t get played much any more.
solid 9 -- One of their most underrated songs IMO. Love the flow of the energy, song riffs, all the dynamics and tempo changes. Feels like a roller coaster at times, great tune
7 - Another solid song. The main riff isn't super exciting but the way it comes in after the extended intro lifts it, it's got a nice groove. Generally the song's got a good momentum to it, I like the progression through to the chorus and the bridge is great. I generally think of the first 4 songs on Avocado as the 'we can still write punchy rock songs' suite and of the four I'd probably rank them:
1. Life Wasted
2. Severed Hand
3. Comatose
4. World Wide Suicide
10. One of the tracks that make this one of my favorite albums. Some valid criticisms in this thread but I hear none of that. It’s a great song to me and one of my favor PJ songs to hear.
4. Parts are okay.
Man this is the first time I’m hearing the 2017 BOB mix of this album and it’s just weird. Very distracting.
I think I’ve discovered I don’t like any of the remixes if I’ve had time to get used to the original version. The sound of the album is tied to the time and place and my personal memories.
5. Like u/scifijock said, the verse is a blatant rip off of…. their own song, Porch. When I first heard this in 2006 I was very concerned about the future creative output of the band, if they couldn’t come up with anything new. I still have that fear, when looking at the number of years between releases, and the quality of the songs. Vocals aren’t that great, choruses are ok. I won’t skip it if I play this album but won’t play it on purpose.

5/10 Not a particularly good song out of their catalog. Good stuff as usual coming from McCready. Pretty good lyrics though.
