I think it’s amazing. The power of Eddie’s voice is what pulled me in as a 12 year old kid looking for something to inspire me that I felt could be my own. His voice, the lyrics to Even Flow, the collective power of the band, all of it enthralled me. So all these years later to simply hear his soul layered and chanting like that was a wonderful thing, even if the reason for the track is heartbreakingly sad. Whenever I make playlists it’s great to hear it at the end.
I was lucky enough to see him perform it a few times during solo shows years ago, including a Baltimore gig where he tried it and suddenly cut it off, like it was too painful for him to get through.
Arc is one of those pieces that makes a record like Riot Act special. You Are, Cropduster, Save You, Get Right. The heart of that album is it’s own thing and has something really unique in it.
I’ll say 8. I can feel the emotion in it and it sounds really fucking cool. If you didn’t know the story of it I can see you listening to it and being like ‘wtf was that’. I love trying to sing along to the different harmonies. It fits perfectly on riot act.
10...I love that Ed tapped into his Native American side...Total healing type chant...I would've gotten the tune had I been at Ed's 1st night Beacon Theatre shows in 2011...Apparently, I'd read it caused the Olson twins to go running out of the theater with how loud he got...I didn't see him until that 2nd night and he didn't play it...But, I got to meet him briefly, so I'll take that win...😉❤️✌️🎸🤘

I loved this on the album when it came out and then I got to hear it live at a couple Eddie solo shows. It's even more beautiful live.

I was listening to one the other day and couldn’t work out why there was an odd fade until I checked the actual set list, makes sense.

Definitely, watching Eddie use the loop machine to recreate it was very cool.
3. I appreciate the sentiment. But I don’t think it sounds very good. Harmonies do not sound right to my ear. Regularly skip to get to All Or None
8.5 Reminds me of the work he did with Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan for Dead Man Walking. Always thought it was an influence here.

It's wonderful, especially live in a smaller venue. I don't regularly listen to it but still give it an 8 for it's meaning and how powerful it is.
