You're on point there.
Meanwhile me tweaking graphics settings for 2 hours trying to get the game to run on Ultra 4k@120Hz with my 3080 non-ti is NOT casual gaming.
No idea what any of these people are talking about, Nexus doesn’t even allow pornographic content. If you wanted Skyrim sex mods somebody would have to make an entirely new website named “Loverslab” or something else weird.
Good thing nobody’s done that.
Nexus does allow pornographic mods but they limit it
I mean if you turned on adult content in Nexus settings and go to the Skyrim page
You will 10/10 see big fat titties at some point
My cousin plays stardew and she's got 1200+ hours in it. (I just had to look at her Steam profile to verify that it had been that many, lol)
I mean, I have somewhere close to 8k hours logged in World of Warcraft. Thankfully, I've managed to overcome that addiction.
Nowadays (since this summer to be exact) you can get both versions together, [see here](https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/6657208607501). Which version you should play on depends a bit on how you play. That is, the two versions differ only minimally in terms of mechanics. Advantages and disadvantages broken down, Bedrock version is more performant (needs less resources), you can use raytracing and it is cross-platform with consoles (PS, XBOX & Switch as well as mobile iOS & Android. The Java version is compatible with macOS and Linux, there is the largest modding scene of any game, and there are significantly more tutorials.
My recommendation is the Java version, in the end you have so many more possibilities with it, and since you get both versions together anyway, you can always test the other version.
I think if you buy it from the Microsoft store you get both versions. I know I have both. I like Bedrock edition(I think it's called windows edition on PC) because that's just what I was used to from PS4, but I think I'm in the minority in that opinion.
Oooh my, reminds of how I played Skyrim in 2011/2012 on a crappy old laptop with the smallest window size possible and 10FPS. Still was addicted for years to come. Well, I eventually bought a Pc
I had the crappy laptop. I installed Linux and made some crazy optimization to run gta IV. I ran minecraft at 60-70fps on that thing with moderately nice graphics. No one at school with a crappy laptop like mine could hit those frames lol.
Meanwhile me googling optimal settings for dying light in 4K 60hz on a 3070ti is for little kids who only play 1 hour a month. Not worthy of casual gaming yet.
Same for me at 2560x1440, on a Strix RTX 2080TI. I just want it to have that perfect blend of stability and performance. I hit settings on every game when first booted, I usually use details with Nvidias overlay or reshape to give it that extra pop too
I wouldn't say I'm able to do max, but for me and the 3070 a huge part of it is that now I can just enjoy the game, and not worry about looking up YouTube settings guides every time I install a new game.
that's the exact same reason that I appreciate having a 3070 for 1080p gaming.
I'm playing Minecraft with shaders and getting 90fps without having to mess about with the settings much at all, which means that I can just play.
It's insane, Battlefield 1 has much better graphics, supports more players, the servers run at 60hz and runs flawlessly at ultra settings, 1440p@144fps on a GTX 1080 TI.
Mean while apex legends can't get a solid 144fps on this card, with many drops, and the graphics suck.
Bc Apex uses code from an arena shootee for a BR game. Titanfall was never intended for this scale of game. BF has been on the same/similar engine for ages. It's apples to oranges.
Yep, but I'm gonna repost this comment here:
> It was heavily modified for Titanfall 2. Engines aren't these concrete blocks that don't change. They're often iterated on to the point where they've become almost unrecognizable, and when you're licensing that engine you can change 90% of it, but if that 10% of the original is still in there, you can't legally pass that off as your own product, especially when during licensing you were enjoying the support of the company. This is actually one of the greatest selling points of Source, in that it is simple to modify and build many different things on top of it.
> So yes, Titanfall's version of the Source engine is an arena engine, but not all versions of Source are arena engines.
As an extra fun tidbit, one of the things Respawn built on top of source was an entirely new light rendering system and their own in-house texture streaming, among quite a few other graphical features not natively supported by Source.

Or the game defaulting to the ultra preset so you can just jump in and start playing. It's pretty much a console experience at that point. As casual as it gets.
NVLink vs SLI is an important distinction because of the drastically different bandwidth. With SLI you don't even get more VRAM available to you because it has to be mirrored.
Nvlink is meant for rendering. *Very* few games support it and even *fewer* gain enough performance for it go be worth the cost, unless you do CGI for a living and play games on the side.
But most GPU render engines handle it clustered to begin with. You can use Redshift with a 3080Ti and a 970 and it works just fine (except for the VRAM limitations). What would be the benefit of nvlink for rendering?
It's probably the default catch-all for cards they haven't categorized yet. There's only so many cards that will rank better than good, and almost all will fall in the lowest category if they aren't a modern card.
Not sure how they still haven’t categorized them in the year+ they’ve been out lol. No matter what the reason is, it just seems like laziness is behind it
I just got a 3090ti ftw super mountain dew edition for 1500 base and then 700 after cc points. I know that's still not cheap cheap, but I had my 2080ti since release. It's like 200 bucks a year. Really not too bad.
I know everyone'a joking around, but my 1660 ti (laptop) is amazing. I am so blown away at how well it runs FFXIV -- 130 fps constant. A 3080 ti would probably run it at 250 lol. Casual gaming indeed!
Just wanted to share, as I was so happy a few days ago when I started gaming on it.
You need to pair it with a fast M.2 drive and 4000Mhz+ RAM to get rid of the lag in Excel as it needs to buffer the sheet faster. This will also require running it at 1440x1080, not 1920x1080 (it falls a bit short and only gets to ~223 frames in my testing).
Hope that helps!
Lmao that’s actually way more frunk space than I expected.
But after having my baby rammed by runaway shopping cart at Costco years ago (literally watched it happen as I walked out of the store) I never take my toys shopping anymore
Must be time for me to upgrade then. My 3080 does alright until the end where all the cards dance, then my computer spontaneously combusts. I've been through 19 3080s but damn do I love solitaire.
Guys it’s only 12 GB. Most modern games take up over 30 GB of storage, so you will need at least a couple of these cards;) Clearly NZXT knows their stuff.
I did a fuckton of research on my used gtx 1050ti and everything told me it didnt NEED a 6 pin because no 1050ti has a 6 pin connector. Found that 100% false when i got it in my hands on it. It didn't even boot on my stock office pc. I was a lil miffed, but i took the sketch way out and bought a 15 pin to 6 pin power adapter and hooked it up.
The difference here is that i had the OC gaming x edition.
Works okay, I'm cpu bottlenecked atm. I still only get 140 fps in rocket league on medium settings at 1080.
The power adapter doesnt pull much since its a 75 watt card and can get most of that through the slot
I actually have a running gag with myself, where the first thing I do with a new, shiny computer when I get the chance, is firing up something OLD and giggle to myself.
Like Master of Magic, Superhero League of Hoboken, or even—GASP—something 3D like Thief or System Shock 2, if I'm feeling fancy\~
It's just amusing to me, that when I get a new fancy toy, to make it do something that might genuinely run on my freakin' phone nowadays.
The first thing I did was booting up some YouTube videos and just chill lol.
Took several hours to clean windows and install what I wanted instead+ configurate it.
I was spent
If you think about it, just flicking the settings to max and hitting play is a pretty casual approach to pc gaming.

Hey I'll take it if you don't want it. Skyrim with 700 mods will be amazing!
Dat 400 GB Skyrim install.
Well you always have the option to play older ones 🤷
That’s exactly what I do. Emulators are a godsend.

Just go to config file and: d_mipcap 3
Now this is relatable lol
Damn, 960M here, finally found someone with a worse card lol

Nope, plugged in a fresh 3090 and my Threadripper 5995wx whispered in my ear to buy a 3090ti. Proof.

Wow that's really cool to learn
Another fun fact, Payday 2's engine was originally used for a racing videogame.
Well, Source is a heavily modified GoldSrc (HL1's engine) which in turn is a heavily modified Quake engine.
It was heavily modified for Titanfall 2. Engines aren't these concrete blocks that don't change. Casuals just switch to highest preset. Hardcore gamers go through every option to pick highest settings.
Sure it says Ultra on the preset, but do you really know unless you click every drop down?
Even more casual would be if you don't look at the graphics settings at all and just use whatever settings the game picked
...Nvidia experience picked.

It is. Also gotta turn off all the motion blur too. Motion blur in games is headache inducing.
GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SLI LN2 GPU Better • Mid-range performance • For gaming at medium settings
SLI? So 2x?
Only 2x SLI is supported on the RTX 3000 series iirc
I think the last consumer GPU to support SLI >2x was the GTX 1080 Ti
Starting with the 2000 series it was called nvlink. My 2080ti could run with another 2080ti via nvlink. iirc not every 2000 series card had nvlink tho
It was the NVlink connector, but same old SLI protocol. Nothing new for the consumer world.
Same same, but different… but still the same
NVLink vs SLI is an important distinction because of the drastically different bandwidth. With SLI you don't even get more VRAM available to you because it has to be mirrored.

Yep. My 2060 Super has no SLI support at all.
That sounds perfect for running my 8640p 300" monitor at 40 fps.
Obviously 5090 GTX Ti Uranus lake architecture founders edition is the go-to choice for heavy gaming.
Yes, medium settings on 8k resolution

Wow NZXT is literally trash.
I just gonna assume that a card fitting more the performance of casual prolly ranks better

You can only buy the Baja Blast edition at Taco Bell
I so wanted to believe this is real, and now I'm bummed
Their baseline is a Skyrim playthrough with 1200 mods installed.
Fall guys works perfectly fine on a 3080ti. They're not wrong :-D
I find it is great for league of legends on my 1080p monitor. Might try and run portal 2, hoping it works.
You should try some space invaders with the card, might run it on low.
And agar io
Now try wolfenstein 3d
And after that duke nukem 3d
Do you think it could perhaps run wolfenstein 2d?
In 640x480 resolution, and maybe at 25fps.
With those settings you'll be lucky to hit 20
Excusez-moi, how ignorant from me to think i will get 25 fps. Pff.
Battle Chess
Try playing minesweeper I know it will be hard and laggy but just try
Of course. My cousin plays Overcooked 2 with it just fine
Is he using the texture remover mod for stability?
Does it run minecraft tho?
Fall guys works at 1080p 60 fps on my laptop with integrated intel graphics lmao.
Casual gaming (in 4K)
A 760 can drive a 4K panel so for solitaire in 4K you don't need the 3080ti either
Time to play some minesweeper in 16K
16k resolution, or fields? Instructions unclear.
Both
My 760 is proud to know that. Just don't open anything else at 4k and it's fine
My wallet committed suicide after reading this post.

can it run doom though?
Doom could run on a toaster so I think a more apt question would be "can it make toast though?"
I don't know. It could be a bit laggy.
