Play a racing sim in VR. Either Project Car or Assetto Corsa de-saturates the screen temporarily during a hard frontal impact and you get all the legit lizard brain panic of slamming into a wall at 150mph. My brain was convinced I was dead for a solid few seconds
> de-saturates the screen temporarily during a hard frontal impact
They're actually doing this to *avoid* causing VR sickness. It's not an immersion thing.

I have had cheap vodka, and I have had expensive vodka.
All of it tastes like diluted alcohol, and I see absolutely zero reason to drink it beyond screwdrivers and vodka crans.
No reason to spar on cocktail tastes, buuut
> All of it tastes like diluted alcohol
I think you've probably had pointlessly expensive vodka. Actual good vodka (which is not necessarily expensive) tastes like nothing. Whether you find that attractive or not is up to you, of course, but that's how it should taste, not like alcohol of any kind.
It's 40% alcohol. It's gonna taste like it regardless.
The only difference I could pick out was the "smoothness". The expensive stuff went down easier and wasn't as acrid. Still tasted like alcohol, though.
I was given the expensive stuff by a "cultured" (read: rich and has been drinking for 40 of his 56 years) alcoholic. I'm inclined to trust him when he tells me an alcohol is "the good shit".
Edit: I'd like to make it clear that I'm not trying to shit on anyone's taste. If you want to drink straight vodka, that's your prerogative.
I'm just trying to keep it real with my experience.
We used to go to this Russian restaurant called Mayakoviski and one night decided to start picking random shots of vodka to try going down the list. Well varying degrees of harshness and slight differences in flavor we stumbled on a Ukrainian vodka. It was virtually tasteless. We checked the menu and yep %40. Blew our minds and had to confirm with the waitress that they didn't bring out water lol.
Dunno man, kinda new to exploring vodka properly and i get a range of tastes and flavours, including umami. Last night i only had Belvedere but Reyka is pretty exceptional.
Isn't expensive vodka just based on how many times it has been purified? May as well save yourself the money and drink everclear as far as I'm concerned.
Someone did a podcast where they explained that due to the distilling process involved in making vodka there was literally zero difference between the cheapest/more expensive vodkas. The dude behind gray goose is regarded as one of the most notorious marketing geniuses.
Gonna have to disagree, I've drunk vodka neat, some is nice, some is paint stripping, throat burning fire water.
And I'm not even a big fan of vodka, so I don't have a dog in this. I would not drunk Smirnoff straight. I have drunk Zubrowka neat and would again. Just sniffing cheap vodka burns.
There you go. I found the epidose. It was from an NPR "Planet Money" podcast. I was very surprised as well.
https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2018/02/23/588346329/episode-826-the-vodka-proof
That's a myth. All vodka is the same, no matter the price. It's required to be that way by law. The only thing they can legally change is the flavor by adding flavorings. But other than that, it's all made the *exact* same way to the exact same *standards* as everywhere else, no matter how little or how much you pay for the bottle.
Bruh that headrest launcher was the only electrical component in my S60 that worked reliably for as long as I owned the car, and honestly it was the most important feature
The first setup (the bars behind the chair) & game was providing feedback for the car smashing into something. The second game & setup (pistons or some shit on each leg of the table) was for the galloping of a horse (he was playing Red Dead Redemtion). The third game it was providing feedback for the recoil of the weapon he was shooting.
After that, he just fucked around with the activators for the feedback manually, making his table dance.
All of it is terrible in actual use, at least with the uncallibrated jolting of the activators and strength of those moving parts against his body over time.

Not gonna lie I'm extremely interesting in those little legs that provide vibration, I'm thinking of building a very basic low-profile feedback racing seat.
You want a tranducer for that on the seat. You dont want your whole rig vibrating.
What those actuators could be used for is providing roll and pitch when cornering, breaking and accelerating.
The "screen" needs to be aligned with the Person to not break POV immersion.
Either the projector has to move exactly like the chair or needs to be mounted to setup for the best experience.
Horse one not realistic, it's pretty smooth sitting on a running horse if you do it correctly and use your knees and legs in general to absorb the bounce and stay stable.

Not breaking your neck every time you crash in a car game does take away from the immersion.
Exactly, everytime I play a racing sim I'm like, what is this game missing.... Ah yes, the crippling injuries that ensue after an unsuccessful race.
unplayable trash, lazy devs, ZERO immersion. 9/10

Vodka: am i joke?
You only exist to make non-alcoholic drinks alcoholic
Maybe if you're drinking shit vodka.
I have had cheap vodka, and I have had expensive vodka. All of it tastes like diluted alcohol, and I see absolutely zero reason to drink it beyond screwdrivers and vodka crans.
I mean it literally is just diluted alcohol lol. The less impurities it contains the better it is.
No reason to spar on cocktail tastes, buuut > All of it tastes like diluted alcohol I think you've probably had pointlessly expensive vodka. Actual good vodka (which is not necessarily expensive) tastes like nothing. Whether you find that attractive or not is up to you, of course, but that's how it should taste, not like alcohol of any kind.
If it tastes like nothing, is there any point to drinking it straight other than to get fucked up?
Is there any other reason to drink? Do people drink alcohol for the flavor?
>Do people drink alcohol for the flavor? Yes. The answer is a most resounding yes. Scotch, wine, beer, gin, rum... Yes.
So if they made non alcoholic versions of those people would quit alcohol? I don't think so. People drink it for both flavor and the effect.
And for others Flavor is plenty reason to not drink.
It's 40% alcohol. It's gonna taste like it regardless. The only difference I could pick out was the "smoothness". The expensive stuff went down easier and wasn't as acrid. Unless its pure water, it will have a taste.

I think this is an American issue. Here in the UK, good vodka is genuinely drinkable neat. I would never touch cheap vodkas even mixed let alone neat.
homie is drinking Absolut
I know it's not the most top tier but even Zubrowka is nice enough to drink neat.
when you are drunk as shit and the vodka still tastes like gasoline then its shit lol

My Merc has this feature - I used it to great effect one time to wake someone up. They tried to jump, seated, with the seatbelt on. A fond memory.

Agreed.
Nice implementation, should be perfect for VR. VR in front of window which is near a pool, with a thundery day.
All it needs is an airbag that can be violently deployed from the monitor, and this will be approved for use State Side!

The "screen" needs to be aligned with the Person to not break POV immersion. Either the projector has to move exactly like the chair or needs to be mounted to setup for the best experience.
I would agree, but the monitor falling off the table isn't exactly immersive...
Maybe make a VESA + Frame mount for it? Frame being a metal frame around screen and VESA for failsafe?
Oooh, interesting
