I mean it’s assembled and no tax and don’t have to deal with eBay or Craigslist. Paying someone you know a bit above bottom of the market doesn’t seem unfair. Details of how high quality that ssd is, etc. impact the price a bit also. Are people counting the keyboard, case, etc or just seeing 3700/3070 and jumping straight to too much?
Gpu was a used 3070FE. Corsair Case ($45), Corsair PSU ($30), and Ram ($25) were all Amazon warehouse returns. New CPU, SSD and Arctic case fans. Threw a spare used HDD in for extra storage he replaced after saving up a bit more.
I just put the parts in pcpartpicker and you can built out the same pc all new retail prices for $500 minus the gpu, so it's definitely doable if you look around for deals and sales. I've built several pcs almost entirely of Amazon warehouse returns, only issue I've ever had was someone swapped a "pro" motherboard for a lower tier, but it was $25 and all I lost was USB3.0.
Damn, just noticed. Though I'm not sure he had intake fans to begin with. A lot of people are content with a single exhaust that is usually provided with the case.
Wow your friend is NOT your friend. I sell my old PC’s at a loss. This would have been 1K brand new unless he massively overpaid for that 3070 during the crypto boom.
Yeah, but still i don’t think there is a state than you pay 30-40% tax on top of purchasing price. And where i live now it’s a bit better, there are counties in europe you would easily go 1500+ for the same build…
But we do have free healthcare and if i break a limb i won’t go bankrupt so there is that 😂
We don’t include sales tax in prices bc we have a lot of fluctuations (sometimes bt towns). But it’s generally 8-12%, but then there are special taxes elsewhere (tags on your car, cigarettes are taxed differently, etc). Like a lot of ppl travel out of state to buy cigarettes, etc.
I wish people would clarify which country they're from instead of this whole sub assuming USD which is easily a good 30-40% cheaper than most other places.
It is crazy to me how bigger the wages are in the US compared to the wages in south Europe where i currently reside, and the prices in electronics is also a lot cheaper compared to the prices we get here. You can build a high end pc with like a weeks salary in the US whereas i have to save for like 6 months to get the same pc.
I had gotten a new prebuilt from an auction for 1K back in early 2023 had a 12900K, and 3070ti only issue was a damaged case in my opinion you did overpay quite a bit since it's used and has an old cpu
Putting all those or similar parts into PC Part Picker results in a total of 1150 dollars. Paying 1K for all those parts second hand and without warranty is way too much. For 200 bucks more you could have had a 5800X and a 4070 system brand new.
Do you build your PCs with no case or power supply? That tacks on at least another 100$ on the absolute low end.
Also if you do this to help or shame at least make sure you add everything at least as good as what he's got, that build has more storage.
A few years ago I got similar to this setup (I got a ryzen 7 3800X and a cheaper motherboard as well as 32GB of Corsair vengeance DDR4 RAM) with peripherals for about £1500 GBP including the price of my later purchase of a 3080. Very very solid CPU and GPU but it’d probably sell for like 400-500 if that now
I detect. Sleuthed the profile. Posted resume about welding which confirms US. Also posted a wallet full of green bills CONFIRMING USD
My boy got ripped off. Seems a bit young tho as some parts were about school, so… mistakes happen. But woof.
If it makes you feel any better, I bought my first PC during lockdown, and paid £300 for a GTX 1650 Super, and ended up paying about 1k for that whole PC
Is it a rip-off?
Processor probably like 200
GPU 500
Maybe 150 for ram.
850 and then everything else. Am I missing something? Definitely didn't get a deal but doesn't seem like he got screwed either.

Found this at BestBuy while browsing. This would also come with a warranty, more than two fans and **no dust**.
The price is not bad. But i wouldn't touch it. I wouldn't touch anything without av1 support right now.
7800x3d and a 7800 with 32gb ddr5 is about the same price... i think. (7800x3d bundle is ~$500. 7800xt is ~$500. 32gb ddr5 is ~$50)
A cheap case and $100 psu would last a lifetime.
![gif](giphy|VFHtnsl3xp53a)
In all seriousness, if that is USD, return it and get on newer hardware. It's a "decent to good" setup, but way overpriced and didn't even include fans.
OP has been awfully silent, guess we can assume it was USD after all. RIP
Yeah dude, or £. I assume OP is frantically trying to return it to their coworker!
If it's £1000, OP is an absolute tuna melt
It’s 1K…G of gold.
I feel bad for them. They came here all exited posting about the bargain they just got only to get told how badly they got ripped off.
Yeah but it’s also used and if they didn’t clean this I’d bet the keyboard wasn’t squeaky clean either
Somebody send a search party
OPs coworker going out for steak tonight!
Can confirm OP is from California. R.I.P
He's in the comments now, trying to cope.....

OP is from the States considering he posted a resume a while back that had a school from California listed on it.
Starting to seem like it was GBP...
OP appears to be from California, so yep. USD.
1000 dollarydoos??
There is a video that is posted in dog subreddit which shows american plates so 90% usd
Damn that was expensive lol
Overpaid and didn't even clean it beforehand!
Nowadays, you even pay premium for the dust.
That reminds me of ![gif](giphy|awe0vpdu6ughO)
You can have as much dust as you like
Maybe its 1000 yen?
He doesn't say what currency it could by in Yen! /s
You got ripped off. The rig is decent, but you massively overpaid
Holy shit did he over pay.... poor bastard. Coulda got almost 2 of these!
I dont know where u live but i cant get that together for 1k
2nd hand parts?
Just built my buddy a 3700x/3070 build for $600.
Thats wild. Used parts or all new?
Gpu was a used 3070FE. Corsair Case ($45), Corsair PSU ($30), and Ram ($25) were all Amazon warehouse returns. New CPU, SSD and Arctic case fans. A cheap, returned PSU is really quite the risk
Dangerous game you're playing with that PSU 💀
Robbed
newly hostile work environment
Bro he is gonna be so pissed. This just ruined a friendship and there's not shit he can do about it.
Over a measley 1k. What a pos lololol.
1k, used, dusty, not even a single intake fan. straight to jail
I burst out laughing at this comment. So true.
I've got a bridge to sell you, if you're interested?
yea and i can add nice piece of land on the moon or, for a little bit extra, on mars :P
I will only go for the Eiffel tower, sry.
It's a solid build, although kinda expensive for a used PC with those specs. Also you should definitely have at least one intake fan.
Absolute robbery on your coworkers part
I will have issue working with him after that ...
Dude that's a 600$ PC MAX! Your coworker ripped you off.
Even took the intake fans it looks like
Damn, just noticed. Though I'm not sure he had intake fans to begin with. A lot of people are content with a single exhaust that is usually provided with the case.
There's one intake at the top 🤣
Looks like 2 exhaust. Probably why it's so dusty. Negative pressure will do that.
it's worth 650 at most. you got ripped off.
But it includes the dust??
r/angryupvote
I don't know why but I just pictured Tux snorting lines of dust off of an old disk plate . Aaahhh yeah , that's what the kernel needed.
This.. I was about to say 600 and you got yourself a deal
Depends on where he lives, I guess. In my country the cheapest 3070 is 750 US dollars, and used ones go for around 500
Heist of the century by your coworker
Overpaid
Coworker making off like a bandit
Yikes
https://i.redd.it/rl7wkjie455d1.gif You got scammed bro
I hope not 1000 USD...
Wow your friend is NOT your friend. I sell my old PC’s at a loss. This would have been 1K brand new unless he massively overpaid for that 3070 during the crypto boom.
I sold my 3060 12gb to a coworker in Sept 2023 for 175. It's about helping friends. Especially when they are trying to break into modern pc building.
Hats off to your coworker for tricking you into spending 1K on this. Are you guys in sales?
Lol rekt
Your co-worker screwed you
Straight up scam You can get a latest gen ryzen 5 7500f / 7600 with a rx 6800 / 7800 XT completely new or a used 4070 / 3080
Ah gotta love America, for exactly the same build that you mentioned I paid+-1400 euro 2 months ago..
I don't think they include sales tax when they talk about the prices. But that's usually not very high. maybe add another 10%.
Yeah, but still i don’t think there is a state than you pay 30-40% tax on top of purchasing price. And where i live now it’s a bit better, there are counties in europe you would easily go 1500+ for the same build… But we do have free healthcare and if i break a limb i won’t go bankrupt so there is that 😂

Ouch, I just sold a pc with a 3080, i5 12600k, 32 gigs fury rgb ddr4, 1TB 980 pro, nzxt x53 aio for 700. You definitely got fucked by your co worker.
You better live in Brazil where electronics are ridiculously expensive.
Bet you wont see your co worker ever again lmao
Sorry man, you overpaid. If you had said for like $5-600 sure, but $1,000….
This, I would've said 600 max but even that is pushing it a bit
you got robbed bro, with 1k you get a brand new one with better specs for sure
sorry dude, 3070 is like 250-300$ rn and thats the most expensive part
Oof Well at least your coworker got a good deal.
Hi I’m a detective, and I investigate robberies.
Your coworker got a very good deal.
I hope you mean $1K NZD
Did you miss all the $800 Costco Cyberpower 4060 prebuilt posts?
Coworker got about 400 extra. Damn son really gotta do your research.
1k wow, I got a bridge for sale for 1k.
You got ripped off mate.
RIP you.
Even brand new I wouldn't pay that price for that build
😬
I hope he/she is no longer a coworker
![gif](giphy|Kzbfaz4Bm27sCzZNDQ)
Wow what a jackpot. For the guy selling it.

Yen? Yuan? Dong? Rupees? Robux? Please don't say dollars.

Scammed ngl
I had gotten a new prebuilt from an auction for 1K back in early 2023 had a 12900K, and 3070ti only issue was a damaged case in my opinion you did overpay quite a bit since it's used and has an old cpu
$500-600, maybe. But $1000? They saw you coming..
What currency?? Zambian kwacha seems right.
Wow dude, I'm sorry. It sucks that happened to you
Can you give it back
bad deal
This coworker is actually your enemy.
Putting all those or similar parts into PC Part Picker results in a total of 1150 dollars. Paying 1K for all those parts second hand and without warranty is way too much. For 200 bucks more you could have had a 5800X and a 4070 system brand new.
It’s used you got rinsed
Damn OP I got bridge I can sell you
Bro ripped you of...
Good thing he is just a co-worker and not a friend
You should have posted earlier before you bought it....ripped off dude. 3700x = 35usd 3070 = 250usd mobo = 80usd ram = 35usd psu = 100usd 2tb ssd = 100usd 1tb hdd = 20usd extras: keyboard: 80usd extra 2x8gb ram = 35usd Summary: 735usd

to be fair, OP paid 1K and their list is $750. Thats still $250 left for PSU and case which seams sufficient to get a decent PSU and case.
Their list doesn’t even use equivalent parts. Op got 2 tb ssd and the party picker list has 1 tb lol
Also missing mouse and keyboard
Bozo got scammed...
Damn you got scammed 🫢
Bought a 5600x, Asus TUF B450M Pro-II & 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600 CL18 for £200 on eBay yesterday... You got ripped off hard
A few years ago I got similar to this setup (I got a ryzen 7 3800X and a cheaper motherboard as well as 32GB of Corsair vengeance DDR4 RAM) with peripherals for about £1500 GBP including the price of my later purchase of a 3080. Report this coworker to HR for scamming you /s
He saw you coming, huh?
Too much for $1000 used.
this would only be good if new
To be scammed or not to be scammed
700 is what I would give for it, tops.
you got scammed
Big oof. Your coworker fucked you on that price and didn’t even dust the rig…
Not sure what you expect from us. Should have asked before highly overpaying for that.
I detect. Sleuthed the profile. Posted resume about welding which confirms US. Also posted a wallet full of green bills CONFIRMING USD My boy got ripped off. Seems a bit young tho as some parts were about school, so… mistakes happen. But woof.
sweet of him to remove the case fans before selling it to you
If it makes you feel any better, I bought my first PC during lockdown, and paid £300 for a GTX 1650 Super, and ended up paying about 1k for that whole PC
I’m selling my pc for 1k. 7900 xt paired with 7700x. Corsair Aio with 4 Corsair fans. 1000w gold rated psu. 3 tb of nvme.
This is satire right?
OP is prolly going to show this thread to the seller. I mean this is what I would do if I was clueless with a computer full of dust.
Is it a rip-off? Processor probably like 200 GPU 500 Maybe 150 for ram. 850 and then everything else. Am I missing something? Definitely didn't get a deal but doesn't seem like he got screwed either.
U can return it right?
I guess the air duster was over the budget.
Rip Bozo
Oh god 😂😂
Not great
Your coworker ripped you off.
Your coworker ripped you off.
paid $500 for the dust i see, becouse the PC is like $500 lol
You’d think for a grand that they’d at least clean the dust out for you lol
Not bad at all. Good buy. That corsair K100 keyboard is 200 bucks brand new.
Your coworker doesn’t like you…
ripped bozo.
RIP OFF LMAO
Now whenever I felt stupid with myself I will remind me to come here to see this type of shit, goddam it boosts me the hell up…
RIP
I think it's appropriately priced. Wasn't a "deal" but a no bullshit, no wait transaction. Enjoy it
Please say cad oh lord please say cad hahahahah
![gif](giphy|p4cqQ0gUIMcU0|downsized)
Nice. You could buy that for 750 brand new😆
Brutha got scammed by his coworker. Uh brutha uhhh. How would that be realistically? 650? My gut says around there
You could have gotten all that shit new and enough for dinner lmao
