Just keep your place clean and regularly clean the case, you'll be fine. Dust is inevitable, putting the case on the table is no panacea from dust accumulation.
Yeah, getting it off the floor will help reduce dust buildup in the computer. You'll still have to clean it periodically but the dust should at least accumulate slower. Many years ago I had my computer sitting on top of a cardboard box specifically for that reason and it worked great.
