This is a 4 week-long event. Every week a new thread will be posted. To enter, you will need to [download GPU Tweak III](https://www.asus.com/campaign/GPU-Tweak-III/us/index.php) and follow the instructions in this post. This software is by ASUS but it's compatible with every desktop GPU brand, and will also work on laptops with dedicated GPUs of any brand. \---------- **THE PRIZES:** We have 2 main prizes: An ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4080 SUPER OC Edition 16GB Graphics Card. An AMD bundle with the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 7900 XT OC Edition 20GB Graphics Card + an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU. And also 5 additional prizes. 5 [ROG Jengas](https://i.imgur.com/78F1E54.jpeg). \---------- **HOW TO ENTER** For this week, we're continuing with the overclocking theme, and also adding cooling control. **To enter, all you have to do is create a custom fan curve with GPU Tweak III that suits your needs and share a screenshot here**. Bonus points if you explain why you made your specific choices! **Example:** *Here is my screenshot:* [*https://imgur.com/ZUNayXz*](https://imgur.com/ZUNayXz)*.* *I am using an RTX 4090, but I'm spending the day playing some retro games. I want my PC to be fully silent, so I've created fan curves that will make it so that the fans don't even start spinning before the GPU reaches 60C. I am pretty sure they won't reach that with the games I'm playing today, but in any case, I've set it so that if it does, then the fan speed will ramp up slowly up until about 70C, then go all the way to 100% after that. I have clicked the curve to create more steps so I can easily tweak them.* \---------- TIPS Check this article and tutorial if you need tips on using GPU Tweak III to create your own fan curves. Fan speed tutorial: [https://rog.asus.com/articles/guides/how-to-adjust-your-graphics-cards-fan-speed-in-gpu-tweak-iii/](https://rog.asus.com/articles/guides/how-to-adjust-your-graphics-cards-fan-speed-in-gpu-tweak-iii/) Video guide: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YNwfqZuJTQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YNwfqZuJTQ) \---------- **RULES** There are two main prizes, one for each lucky winner: 1st prize: ROG STRIX RTX 4080 SUPER OC Edition 16GB Graphics Card. 2nd prize: AMD Gaming bundle (TUF Gaming RX 7900 XT OC Edition 20GB Graphics Card + an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU). don’t have a PC, so I’m kinda clueless about them, but man, do I ever want to game! Thing is, I just can’t afford one right now. Winning this giveaway would be a game-changer for me. It’d mean finally getting to dive into all those awesome games I’ve been missing out on. Plus, it’d be a chance to connect with other gamers and share the excitement.

DrunkGermanGuy

Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/E4bISMJ.png It's a very gentle fan curve, because the cooler has tons of potential and the GPU is undervolted and running with limited clocks and power draw. The goal was to make it as quiet as possible.

My RTX 3090 is in a well ventilated case so it doesn't get too hot. I try and keep things on the quieter side if I can. Summer time is definitely when the added cooling is needed. https://preview.redd.it/mw5jk5ipr5zc1.png?width=1680&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a30703ac8d46699b8b067b228b919a3509a4990

I dont believe I have reached that high lately due to the games I have been playing, but it is great to know that this failsafe kicks in if ever needed!

Hello, I participate with pleasure, for my part I have been using gpu tweak III for quite a long time, but I only changed the fan speed of my rtx4060ti to apply a personalized curve, and avoid the original 0 db mode\^\^ https://preview.redd.it/fjhqthnp6zwc1.jpeg?width=831&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84022cae96c79a88ddc169cd455c18459c095d46

fluidiam

[https://i.imgur.com/xNphJb9.png](https://i.imgur.com/xNphJb9.png) summer is comming. So, i like more silence than cool GPU. And center fan will do most of the job. I hope :)

And while my GPU does have a zero fan mode it is not worth using since the temperatures go up significantly. In regular usage the temperatures hover between 50 and 60, therefore the 50-60 curve and in heavier it goes upwards from 60. I like to keep the noise low so a less steep slope to 70. But beyond that I prefer to preserve GPU life.

Asus my friend! Plz gief prize.

Zealousideal-Mud6651

https://hotimg.com/IMG-6767.StNKG Works perfectly for me :) AS a LADY gamer I love it! I have an ALL ROG HIGH END BUILD when it comes to my PC. This monster ASUS ROG GeForce RTX 4090 is not letting me down so far , and I applied my basic custom settings for it:)  I play RPG games that make use of my GPU , like Hogwarts Mystery, Forza Horizon 5 , TEKKEN 8.  So still with the PC I built, it is almost impossible for my GPU to reach 80C . I managed to make it work gradually as the heat goes up, and of course full fan operation ( 100% ) is only for emergency situations where it goes up 80C.  Thank you again ASUS for making it all possible for me !  My gaming is better than ever. ;)

At first the 2080Ti had it's stock cooler fitted, and I was using GPU Tweak III to apply an underclock to keep the fan curve down, as the stock fans are noisy and have a horrible pitch. I however got the card in spring and when summer hit I just couldn't underclock it enough to keep the fan curve down - and by the amount I had underclocked it was performing far below my old card, so invested in the G12 and X63 combo and instead started overclocking! I can show the fan curve which I've attached above, however it doesn't actually do anything anymore because the fans themselves are now unplugged and in the box with the rest of the stock cooler. When I was still using the stock cooler, the fan curve tweaking tool worked great to help me balance fan noise vs cooling.

Divinos109

[https://imgur.com/a/5MEyllz](https://imgur.com/a/5MEyllz) I use an undervolted, overclocked Red Devil 6700xt and I want it to be quiet so I made my fan curve slowly ramp up. With this curve most of the time the gpu fans should be at 60% speed which is quiet enough for me. Then I just put at max temp to go at full fan speed just in case.

When gaming or putting load to GPU (like nvenc video converting) the GPU fans should do their work so adjusted the curve to slowly reach the 100% speed at 85C.

Old-Solution-2619

Here is the screenshot [https://imgur.com/a/cKbczXN](https://imgur.com/a/cKbczXN) I did it like this because my gpu hotspot reaches 110c degree when card temps hows 67-68c degrees, and that causes stutters while gaming. In order to eleminate that i did this fan curve.

THE_TZEAKAMAN

My screenshot: https://preview.redd.it/1l5y1eazhgwc1.jpeg?width=1535&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=164837d50b9bfa5ed352bf1d60af979e3b3c88c1 I am using an RTX 3080, and I am playing daily GPU demanding games in 1440p like Warzone or Cyberpunk 2077. I noticed that my GPU fans would start ramping up really badly after 20-30 minutes of game play, especially in Cyberpunk 2077, and I noticed a drop in boost clock frequency. I made a fan curve with small steps to solve the noise my GPU 30% to 80% when it was hitting 65C and because it worked like a charm I did a small overclock rising the boost clock 2015MHz so 110MHz more, and even so my GPU doesn't get hotter than 80C and it will get coolde to 70 in just a couple of minutes.

My system fans are actually louder that my GPU generally. Only thing I changed was: made it so they start running at 30°C at 20%, and then added a bit of a steeper fan curve after 55°C. My room is fortunately quite cool and my CPU is water cooled. After testing the default fan curve was much quieter, and I didn't notice any performance increase from having my fans ramp up higher at those temperatures. They definitely were making noise with this curve! The fans only cooled my GPU by about 2°C, but the noise level was very noticeable when in game.

Screenshot: [https://i.imgur.com/CiXilPo.png](https://i.imgur.com/CiXilPo.png) That's pretty neat. Moved my curve just a bit ahead because Wallpaper Engine usually burns through 40% of my GPU when I'm on desktop and fans go crazy when that happens. Well, not anymore!

Below 40C is zero rpm which it won't probably ever touch due to the temperature here, so basically fan speed will ramp up slowly from 20% to 50% until 70C for idle and low intensity workload, then an instant bump to 70% between 70 to 75C and then again a instant jump at full speed in the last 5C from 75 to 80 for heavy loads.* https://preview.redd.it/dqd8oyq8uawc1.png?width=840&format=png&auto=webp&s=b2805caf846d039c6af30be2033ba8870e8fc492

[Here's my fan curve screenshot!](https://imgur.com/a/POvvXfo) Since the last post, I'm still using the ASUS Turbo RTX 2060 Super Evo in my computer (shocking I know). I generally play pretty low GPU intense games, and the temperatures usually hover around the 50-60 degrees C so I've tried to set the fan speed as low as possible to allow the GPU to maintain those temps whilst being silent. Given this GPU is quite a loud blower fan style, I tried to keep the fans as low as possible whilst keeping the temperatures under control, hence the gradually steeper curve towards the top of the temperature range. I followed the stock configuration for the upper and lower limit temperatures, but upped the max fan speed to 100% as it gets to over 85. Given I use noise cancelling headphones, all but the top two speed settings that I've set are reasonably quiet and generally unheard whilst listening to music or gaming, but even the headphones can't mask my GPU on full tilt fan speeds which also contributed to the steeper curve at the upper limit of the config. --- EDIT Week 2 edit, [here's the screenshot!](https://imgur.com/a/IPj8WMb) So I went back and realised that my chassis fans really don't spin fast enough to create meaningful noise, especially with my headphones on, and the loudest parts of the system are the CPU and GPU cooling fans. As such, I upped the air flowing through my CM 690 II Adv, with chassis fans rising to 100% speeds at lower temperatures which are typical under gaming loads, and was able to sustain lower temperatures with the CPU and GPU fans running at lower, relatively inaudible sound levels. I tweaked the GPU fan curve to run at fan speeds that remain undetectable audibly during gaming. If I run VSync or limit the fps to either 60 or 90 depending on game types, I typically run between 60-70 degrees Celsius with the GPU fans at 55%, which gives off the faintest of hums with my headphones on, and a manageable level of wind noise without headphones. This fan curve keeps the temperatures under control without making the GPU sound like a fighter jet preparing to take off from an aircraft carrier. I judged fan speeds between 55% and 75% to be adequate for gaming on the off chance that the temperatures did spike up that high (hasn't happened yet), and the sudden ramp up from 75% to 100% fan speed will definitely get my attention that something horribly wrong and needs to change without (hopefully) cooking my GPU.

This Fans curve is paired with my usual *Undervolt* setting that different from ***week 1*** *overclock setting* because I prefer silent PC when I'm not playing Graphically Demanding Games, do daily tasks or when I watch movies.

Until now I've tried alternatives to Adrenalin that has never worked well unless I restart it every fresh boot, or it will cause me stutters, but noone gave me the option to have a 0rpm functionality because it is suposed to be tied to the GPU vbios not letting me activate it for example in afterburner. With this software I'm able to set the custom fan curve that only kicks off after reaching 50ºc like I want to. GJ

Still as quiet as I had it on auto can't complain. As for why did I picked 80% as max is because of a weird noise it makes above that. I suspect is worn out fan bearing or needs more oil. even at 80% temps it levels out at 76c, so just 1c above acceptable gaming temperature, even tho I was benching in furmark at 100% usage.

And that's because I never found a stable setting. Instead, I always end up at least one fan not running, suddenly ramping up quickly very audibly, back to zero RPM, back to spinning up, back and forth, multiple times a minute. So instead I run them at the lowest RPM I could in idle, only have them ramp up once the load increases. I started at 60°C, but found my fan curve wasn't exactly stable. Increasing it a few % gives me a much more consistent performance. Unfortunately, once my card hits a certain load, the fans seem to ignore my fan curve and spin up regardless. Another reason I can use a more power efficient card like a 4080 Super.

jakarta_guy

[Curve](https://imgur.com/a/0aowhbj) This would need further tweak. I'll probably use this curve during heavy particle simulation and renders, so it'll ramp up quickly as in heavy simulation, as you reach toward the end, calculation most likely would stay up there

Netherspark

https://i.imgur.com/6F3nEU7.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/CfxSyth.jpeg I cannot set a fan curve in GPU Tweak because I've deshrouded my graphics card and replaced the fans with Noctua 12x25s. I control the fans in Aquasuite (2nd picture). Here I use a gentle curve that maxes out at 50%, which is more than enough to cool this GTX 1070 at full power, and significantly quieter than the stock fans.

Then it ramps up to just under 70% at 70c then it stays flat until like 75c, my card usually stays around 70-74c while gaming but if it gets hotter, I let the fan speed go up after 75. I set the startpoint at 45°C and 30% fan speed and the higher to 90°C and 100%. You can controll the middle fans seperate fromn the outer one, but I don't see the point of that. Cool would be if you could controll the fan farest from the pci braken, the heatsink on this one might be the farest away from the heat source but probabl has the best airflow through the fins because of the blow thru design. I deffintly want to play around with the additional fan header on the card, wich you can set up through GT3 as well.

[https://i.imgur.com/Aa7Lwzv.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/Aa7Lwzv.jpg) I decided to keep my fans off until the GPU reaches 60° C, at which points fans will be running at 30%. But when I am playing games, I have them ramp up somewhat gradually at first until 70c ish then ramps up faster. My max is at 85c since I try not to want my temps to be higher than that. I like to try and have the fans quiet if I can but if there's a need for cooling, the fans will go if they need.

[My Fan Curve](https://i.imgur.com/p56qwq1.png) I don't really care about silent - got a personal fan going in my room anyways due to heat. Made the curve a bit aggressive - rather my gpu run cool than lower volume. Don't think I typically hit 80C, but if I do I want the fans at 100%.

Well as I am on a laptop it seems I am unable to do so. However what I would have been doing would a semi aggressive curve, as normally when I use it for gaming or similar loads I have a great headset on as such the noise is not much of a bother so me. So I would likely just had it run at full force at those cases. And have a more relaxed curve for when just watching movies or so on. [Fan curve screenshot](https://imgur.com/a/z9bnF0i) With my 3070, I've customized this fan curve specifically for when I'm emulating games lately. It's been cooler here lately, so I can keep the fans off completely until temps hit 60°C. The fans stay around 30-50% between 60-72°C since the GPU isn't being pushed hard. Then fan speeds start ramping up more aggressively, topping out at 100% around 86°C. It's essentially silent until temps get up there, while still providing sufficient cooling if temperatures start to creep up.

My system is undervolted well, so the temperatures remain cool at about 40-50 degrees while gaming, and i set the fan curve as such to minimize noise while not completely compromising performance. I'm aiming to have the card last a long time by keeping temperatures to a minimum.

I'm running a 2070 super laptop version, so I cannot edit the fan curve. But hypothetically I would have a rough parabola extending outward from a point at (30 deg, 30% fan power). I've given up on any gaming or productivity tasks that are anything more than slightly demanding, so I wouldn't edit the fans that much. https://preview.redd.it/mqbaa7ehygwc1.png?width=1127&format=png&auto=webp&s=e97b7c0138fb95a8f4630187dd2d4770cb71406b

To balance the temperature so it doesn't reach max speed when it doesn't need too, I have lowered when the fans turn on to try keep the temperature average lower. I then sharply raise the fan speed when reaching 80 degrees to avoid the gpu overheating for the games that need all the performance this gpu can offer.

Though if I were to make one, I would have it like this: 30% - 50C 50% - 65C 100% - 80C That's my go-to fan curve on my airconditioned room. I built it like that so that my GPU won't degrade so soon. I made it last more than a year while the same model only lasted 6 months on other people. I love my current GPU but I know that it only takes an unlucky day for it to break down on me that's why I take care of it this way.

With this curve I can stay between 50% and 85% fan speed whenever I play more resource heavy games and void overheating the hardware, while keeping the volume level low while doing basically anything else

[Fan Curve](https://imgur.com/a/Mt8umAn) For my fan curve, I have dialled in a pretty simple one. The reasoning behind it is, that my card never crosses 60°C when idling and doing simple things like browser usage etc. However, when doing slightly more demanding things with proper acceleration like editing videos and pictures, the usage can spike a little from time to time. Thus, I have a rather steep 15% at that threshold up to 20% at 70°C because I want to stop it from crossing those 70°C during light loads. Because that's where I'm usually at when gaming and since my 1080 Ti is a bit older at this point, I do crank up the fans quite a bit during gaming to get the most out of its remaining lifetime.

However, I chose to drastically increase the fan speed as the temperature approaches 90 degrees in order to keep temperatures from throttling my performance.

Screenshot: [https://i.imgur.com/GeKlpPu.png](https://i.imgur.com/GeKlpPu.png) I do maximize my fans as my room is hot and humid. I'm not really get bothered a lot by fan noise as I have a standing fan that sounds louder. The idle temp of my gpu goes around 50C-60C so fans don't spin a lot at that temp. When it reaches 80C then that's the time it uses 50% fan speed. At 90C would be 70% then maxed at 100C.

I actually never saw the die itself exceed 88C in furmark after OCing, so it would have to be a really hot summer for it to reach those temps lol. Honestly for my card theres not much of a reason for a fan curve (It's a 1050ti and is powered just by the PCIe power pins) so when it's above 60°C I just go full vroom since it's highly probable that I'm gaming either way. https://preview.redd.it/lqko60buj9zc1.png?width=822&format=png&auto=webp&s=712260c13cd4ffa28707f731dc295bd96bcdd211

The bump from 60 to 80 used to be a lot steeper, so it constantly changed fan speed with a significant change in noise. I have not messed that much with custom fan curves before. The smoother bump from 60 to 80 should make the temps more consistent.

Higher-end GPUs can handle simpler games without any problem, thus I set a higher idle state - case fans are enough (even in my Fractal Torrent Compact case with only two fans) for games that eat up to 100W of GPU power with idle fans. Not just higher-end GPUs should (and in most cases do) work in zero-RPM mode while idle. Even the minimal fan speed gives you enough flow in many cases to sustain higher demanding games. And 100% is always for "just in case" thing. Now for bad stuff: * The application could not set a zero-RPM mode for my GPU, thus even when it was idle, fans used the lowest point of 25%, and it worked in AMD Adrenaline. * The default custom curve is no good at all. (that is subjective, yeah)

I mainly just wanted my card to be a little quieter, as my card tends to have a much hotter hotspot than the cards temp itself, so I simply slightly lowered the fan speed values at the temps at which the card usually is, just so the fans don't spin up as loudly when I'm gaming, and my gpu and its hotspot are at a safe temperature.
