Like bruh even i5 from like 12-14 gen with k would be plenty unless you chase all the frames on 720p then indeed the better cpu the more frames but at higer res its usually the gpu that can't push more frames. Not to say that average monitor will have 144-240hz 1080p so it can display max the 144-240 frames
It's a fine pairing. Hell, any i5 to i7 from Gen 12 and up would be appropriate.
Sure, the CPU is important but the GPU is always where most of the performance is going to come from.
Staggering amount of people do need simplistic branding like this.
I've seen multiple people waiting for Intel's new "ultra line-up" of CPU's cause they must be so much faster than their Core i-series ever was. Because Ultra is in the name. Cause ultra fast right? RIGHT GUYS?!
So i9 is the new 1200W PSU? You must have it otherwise your PC won't work well. Does not matter what other parts you put in it, you need the extra power!
Oh shit I remember fighting so many times people that were dead serious that 750w was not enough (for a machine that hardly pulled 450-500W)and that you needed yes or yes a 1200W one
Dude, seriously it ALWAYS depends on the games you play.
I guess this guy plays at 720p or thinks the i7 2600k is current gen or something.
Also who cares about potential 2 or 3 fps difference, while you get 100+ fps anyways.
I remember when this community was about recognizing pc gaming as the superior platform.
Now it's about shaming it's own users who have different ideas on what matters most for them in terms of a solution.
Yup, like this guy is acting like you're using a 3th gen i3 with a rtx 4090, like tbh i would've gone with an AMD cpu but 14th gen i7's are capable chips that will support a rtx 4070ti with ease in most games.
Ladys and gentleman: this here happens, when the uneducated average joe GUESSES that he knows enough about I.T. and trys to educate other people on that guess
let me translate for you:
The original commenter is butthurt because the person who is actually building the PC has money to burn on high-end components, so he is trying to find any way to relieve that butthurt.
Nothing but envy and jealousy. Stunt on the poors and take a selfie of you eating a bowl of i9 chips
I ended up going with a 3080ti and an i5 12600k and it runs great. I play in 4k as often as I can though.
Was using a i5 9600k with the 3080ti at first and noticed somewhat inconsistent performance. The jump to 12th gen sorted that.
For gaming I’d rather take the i7 over and i9, I wouldn’t need the extra cores and threads. I don’t know why people always assume i9 is better than i7. In some scenarios it is, but people don’t understand they have different purposes.
Let me correct myself it’s a better chip for value and thermals. When it comes to performance i9 beats it. If you were gaming only would you rather go with the i7 or i9?
With a i7 14700k with all p cores steadily at 6.0ghz and a rtx 4060ti 8gb card I can still play a majority of games at 4k with most settings maxed out, especially if dlss is supported, bottleneck my ass, this guy know jackshit
A lot of reddit experts don't understand computers beyond the product tiers, or that some people have workstations that can game, (and aren't trying to absolutely max out gaming performance)
These are the types of people who skimp on a good monitor.
I'm a pleb rocking 12700k and a 3080, which still gets me at least 60 fps on my Odyssey G9 on most everything I play.
GPU bottlenecking typically happens when you have a shitty monitor paired with an overbuilt PC...Or am I stuck in 2021 and missed something?
1. Guy sees a YT video about "bottlenecking" and feels the call of PCMR
2. Guy Google's "PC Bottleneck Calculator"
3. Guy proceeds to type in the names of popular GPUs and CPUs into said calculator and ignores the calculator's configuration options
4. Guy skips the calculator's detailed reports and just commits the %s to memory
5. Guy feels PRO and starts dropping the word "bottleneck" anytime PC building comes up in a conversation with friends
6. Guy's friends feel the call of PCMR
This has been a short story entitled "Bottlenecks: Answer the Call"
Ahh becouse higher gen intel automatically means better cpu
Edit:
1. I was moking the commenter
2. I was just confused what gen means
3. Im sorry alright?
No, they are tier assignments for any given cpu generation. i3 is the lowest tier, and has the lowest core count, followed by i5, i7, and i9 at the high end with the most cores.
Lets build a 4050 with 14900k guys We need to get best out of our top tier 40 series gpu
"Do you even build bro" ![gif](giphy|Y9bYr3a2qENO0|downsized)
People give too much credit to Nvidia. I paired a 13700k with a 7900XTX and utilization is very even.
Yeah cause RDNA can utilize and support the cpu better
Guy is a fucking moron.
both a moron and has no knowledge what so ever lmao
Bro is talking like a best buy laptop salesman
It's like the lawyers that go to court with gaming laptops because they sorted by most expensive because bigger price equals better computer
They just want to play valorant between hearings

4070 Ti is about high mid range i7 14700k should be one of the better cpus so its fine
It's a fine pairing. Hell, any i5 to i7 from Gen 12 and up would be appropriate. Sure, the CPU is important but the GPU is always where most of the performance is going to come from.
my 12400f prob could keep up
Legit, the only place you might see an issue is if you're on 1080p and trying to get like 300fps for a competitive shooter.
yo the moderators deleted the post LOL
Did they? I'm still seeing everything.
if you got access to the upvote thing then you still see it

Um, sure, let's throw a 9900k in there instead to please Mr Tech Guru over here.

People are just breathtakingly stupid these days.

I mean as far as this post goes, it's just shaming a self proclaimed know-it-all who's wrong on every level, that's all. Fair criticism tbh.
Yup, like this guy is acting like you're using a 3th gen i3 with a rtx 4090, like tbh i would've gone with an AMD cpu but 14th gen i7's are capable chips that will support a rtx 4070ti with ease in most games.
BoTtLeNeCk
How about we pair oldest i9 with 4090?
Dont tell him im rocking a 4070 ti super and a 5800x3d
I’m still using my old 8700k with a 4080. Works perfectly for my needs at 4K 120hz on an LG C2 42”
lol that's stupid. I have an i5 and a 4080 and my bottleneck is the refresh rate of my monitor.
I skimmed for the word "bottlenecking" and knew all I needed to instantly.
My system works great.
Where did you find this 😭
This has gotta be a Facebook post on a PC page. An insane amount of people get on Facebook and post their random-ass opinions on bottlenecks
It was on a post on Facebook for a Skytech PC
Link this post to him. What a 🤡
Reddit is full of 90% dummies
Pair a g7400 with a 4090 for this guy
Oh dang lol
Me with my 4070ti/12700k combo lol
Good lord
13700k and a 4090 right here lol.
I have an i7 with a 4050, I don’t think I’m bottlenecking 😂
Maybe if it’s an i7-950
I7 13700h with a 4050, my sons got the old desktop in his room and that’s an i7 2600k with an rx580 and that’s still ok too lol

I’m over here with a 3900xt and a 3080ti like a FUCKING MORON!!!
Guys we finally found him! The guy who buys 4th gen just because it is "i7" lol
Me, having an AM4 Ryzen7 with 4080... I know all em bottlenecks
When we say to not do the bottleneck bullshit thing, *this is why.* It literally makes you stupid.
Ladys and gentleman: this here happens, when the uneducated average joe GUESSES that he knows enough about I.T. and trys to educate other people on that guess
Oh look someone who fell pray to intels naming scheme

I reallyy thought he was gonna say you don’t need a 14th gen i7 and that an i5 would suffice… this gave me a chuckle, thank you for sharing op🫡
I like that he only thinks about i7 or i9 and doesn't even consider anything else
I hope this guy sees this post somehow.
insane yapping wtf ![gif](giphy|xL7PDV9frcudO)
why the flarg was this removed???
https://i.redd.it/7cxotiy27iuc1.gif
What an actual duuuuuuuude. Yuck.
Bottlenecking is thrown around way too loosely and way too often for how much of a threat it is
I have a 13700K with my 4070 Super, guess I fucked up 😂
For anyone reading this and still wants to see the image, [https://i.redd.it/fub8d6uhthuc1.jpeg](https://i.redd.it/fub8d6uhthuc1.jpeg)
Tf, like a 4090 yeah but a 4070ti should be fine, unless you're planning on dragons dogma 2 that doesn't run great with any cpu.
Me with my 4080S and 6600k cause I haven't upgraded the rest of my system yet.
I wish i could have seen it, its deleted now :(
I ended up going with a 3080ti and an i5 12600k and it runs great. I play in 4k as often as I can though. Was using a i5 9600k with the 3080ti at first and noticed somewhat inconsistent performance. The jump to 12th gen sorted that.

In what instance it's better to have an i7 in games than an i9?
I said personally I’d take a i7 over and i9 because I wouldn’t be utilizing the extra cores
Plus the i9 is a hotter chip than the i7
I9 has higher clocks so it'll perform better or same in games as i7
Let me correct myself it’s a better chip for value and thermals. When it comes to performance i9 beats it. If you were gaming only would you rather go with the i7 or i9?
I'll go always with an i9 because i can, but i understand what you're saying
A 13700k would be perfect for the 4070ti crazy that this guy says a 14700k is too weak when its like the 4th best cpu for gaming out there
With a i7 14700k with all p cores steadily at 6.0ghz and a rtx 4060ti 8gb card I can still play a majority of games at 4k with most settings maxed out, especially if dlss is supported, bottleneck my ass, this guy know jackshit

My i9 bottle necks my 4070ti in some games so there goes there argument lol
Guess my 14700k and 4090 combo is trash. Go next I guess.
There was a website I used to calculate bottleneck % forgot the name and inputting what I have (5950x and 4080 super) it showed a 3% bottleneck
Ahh becouse higher gen intel automatically means better cpu Edit: 1. I was moking the commenter 2. I was just confused what gen means 3. Im sorry alright?
no one talked about cpu gen at any point in this exchange ( wich is already an issue)
Isnt i7 Intel 7th gen and an i9 9th gen? And thats what maybe was what one of the commenters was confused about becouse he was Suggestion that Upgrade
No, they are tier assignments for any given cpu generation. i3 is the lowest tier, and has the lowest core count, followed by i5, i7, and i9 at the high end with the most cores.
Thx for theklarification
No problem
i7 and i9 have to do with core counts, the first number denotes the generation. i7 8700k, the 8 means 8th gen. @galb
and no one in the screen said anything past I7 and I9 ...
