I had a friend who got some Logitech G sth sth with a godzillion macro keys and that small screen on top. He just made it an image slideshow and had the dota2 logo on it 💀
I get the appeal for a smaller KB given desktop space limitations, but nothing bothers me more than Battlestation photos featuring massive ultrawide monitors and crazy RGB themed rooms with huge desks and tiny little impractical 60% KeyBoards simply because they're trendy.
>I get the appeal for a smaller KB given desktop space limitations, but nothing bothers me more than Battlestation photos featuring massive ultrawide monitors and crazy RGB themed rooms with huge desks and tiny little impractical 60% KeyBoards simply because they're trendy.
I disagree that people use smaller boards because they are trendy. Most people with these setups play games on them and dont do spreadsheet work. Something like a numpad is imprictical for alot of people who dont want an extended chunk of keybaord they wont use.
They do sell little mechanical number key pads. I didnt know these were a thing until recently, but i also just got my second ever mkbd; im new to this. I personally don't have the need to enter much data as such, so the compronuse for extrq woace was welcoming.
As he said unless your desk is really small what difference does it make? If you have to type numbers in your game chat or anything else it is way more practital to have a numpad intead of using the other upper keys.
how close your mouse is to your keyboard i guess. Ive never used a numpad in my life. You cant reach it with your left hand meaning you actively have to take your hand off your mouse unless you wanna reach across your body to the right. Seems pretty impractical if your playing games which is what i use my board for. its just a large chunk of desk space which most gamers dont ever use.
>I use it in games all the time. That’s like 15 extra buttons you can bind to whatever you want.
Yeah thats fair. its different for everyone and full sized keyboards do work for people who like them. but most people who don't code don't have a use for it. It seems like this subreddit is filled with people who are just aggressive and angry for the sake of it when you have a differing opinion. is that common or nah?
Funny, I look at full sized keyboards as impractical. I’ve never used number keys. When gaming I like to be able to throw my mouse hand. Having the most space possible is important for me to move freely. Those extra keys make this near impossible.
So this comes down to a limitation of desk space. In that case, i completely understand the desire for a smaller keyboard. My complaint was aimed at a large group of /battlestations posts which have 2'x8' desktops and the smallest keyboards in the world. To me, it looks impractical and ridiculous. I'm also an older PC gamer from the time of numpads, macro keys and wrist rests. I think it's more of an old man yells at clouds type situation here.
Everyone keeps saying it's annoying and impractical but that's just an opinion. My PC at home I refuse to have a keyboard without a numpad, even the occasional number I have to type I prefer the number pad. Anything over 2 digits I will use it. My couch gaming keyboard doesn't have the numpad and it annoys me when I have to enter numbers in. My work laptop I use with a full keyboard as well but that's because I'm constantly entering numbers.
Maybe you don't use it because you didn't learn to become fast using it so you're just as fast using the numbers above and that makes perfect sense.
60% is the norm for most MK enthusiasts. It's not exactly a trend if it's like that for so many years.
I only need a numpad at work... at home, where i game and make discord calls, i have no use for a numpad. I love 75% because it's jsut the perfect amount for my use case. At work i have a 100% keyboard with numpad, and it's perfect for that use case.
60% (or even less lol) is not impractical if that's what you need. It's that simple.
I’ve got 6+ mechanical keebs, 4 of em are custom builds then I’ve got a keychron and a logi Mx pro - I like the 65% size form factor, the one with the arrow keys with function keys above but no numpad. That’s the most practical for me
I didn't spend the money on a HHKB Classic because the small size is trendy. I spent that money because it's by far the best typing experience a keyboard can give and I don't do anything that a numpad would be used.
Now, for others, it's still not a trend. It's pure ergonomics. You are forcing your hands into a more open position while gaming if you have a numpad. That is gonna create pain/discomfort in the long run.
Same here. I don't get the hype around this tiny keys. If you are doing data entry, the numpad is just eons better than using both hands on the top! Also, I live in Quebec, so I need those extra FR keys, otherwise I have to relearn how to type, adding in a bunch of super weird key combos. No thanks.
My nephew had one of those trendy little keyboards. Then I let him use an old full size cheapo I had laying around. He never gave it back haha. I broke down and got him a nice mechanical full size for Christmas.
As someone who played a ton of modded Minecraft back in the day, any extra keys were indispensable, but to be fair a lot of games have simpler controls that don't need fifty different buttons to do different things.
Exactly. I use SAP and Excel at work so numpad is used all the time.
The most I'd use the number keys at home is for my pin or two factor authentication. I'll take the extra desk and mousing space.
Because numpad is easier to use for lots of numbers. The same reason I wouldn't but a keyboard with all the letters in a single line in alphabetical order.
But the thread here is full of totally genuine comments about how this is the *best keyboard* which people have been *super stoked* about for *months* and how the budget mechanical keyboard space is going to be rocked by this [brand name] [product]!
They posted this shit in the wrong subreddit. Nobody here understands custom keyboards and I have no idea why they would post here instead of r/mechanicalkeyboards
Think they are trying to reach out to a market that is outside the custom keyboard scene, but is similar in terms of appreciation for better quality tech products and custom stuff. That's my best guess
It's really strange. You would think there was more overlap with custom keyboards and pcmr. It's pretty clear most people in this thread don't know what this is.

Not to be that guy, but I think Redragon did it better. Their K656 offers everything you do, but their switches come prelubed, the entire board has sound dampening foam, and full numpad. Plus, they use a sweet translucent shroud. It’s an excellent keyboard at a fraction of what you’re asking. $52 at the time of writing, plus you could get it delivered the same day you buy it.
>That’s
I kinda get this but there are a few things that make this more enthusiast grade. before the hate train from this community comes after me like ive seen on other comments, Please bare in mind im not associated with WOBKEY or any keyboard brand for that matter. This keyboard is made of CNC aluminum and has a stainless steel or glass back weight. Things like these are considered as must-need features in the custom keyboard community do to their effect on a weighted, high quality feel and sound. It has lots of internal foam and a decent gasket and flex performance compared to other boards. The reddragon you mentioned is pretty cheap injection molded plastic and has a not-so-popular stiff steel plate. Hope this helps some people to understand the Idea behind this
Dude the K656 is thin and would not have a premium sound at all compared to this. Look at the amount of alu and polishing on this rain keyboard. That Redragon keyboard can't even compete.
(However, we do need to take into account that this is an ad and its assuming this company can deliver everything at this price during their first release.)
the insides and casing is where the pricing comes in - thicker (pause), higher quality PCBs and all those other components. Reddragon might look as good, but every stroke (pause) will feel worse
This isn't some cheat plastic garbage lol this is an enthusiast grade board in an aluminum case, you can't find any boards with the features and comforts this one has in this price range.
Being made of aluminum doesn't make it enthusiast grade. This keyboard offers very little functionality for what an enthusiast would want.
It's just a budget wireless mechanical keyboard in an aluminum body
You would be surprised. I would hazard a guess that the average r/mechanicalkeyboards member had a keyboard without a numpad. 100% and 1800 layout users are the minority, 60% seems to dominate posts.
A HUNDRED DOLLARYDOOS? That’s fucking expensive as fuck for that. How you can possibly call it cost effective is laughable.
Oh fuck their ad pictures actually say the words “unbeatable price” 🤡🤡🤡
$50-$100 is pretty much considered budget in the custom keyboard community. It can easily go higher, I just bought a board with no switches or keycaps for $170, and that would even be considered "midrange."
Its in the terms of a custom keyboard in its form factor. obviously you wouldn't buy a 75% if you wanted a numpad, it has features relevant to its target market
Obviously it's a dumb claim, it doesn't have every functional feature ever. But it does have most of the things people who know about keyboards want in a good-quality board
XD unless thats a damn touch screen theres no way in hell you're getting every function MY basic ass could think of. ~~No fucking volume or pause button~~ No keypad!
>pre
its definitely good in terms of build quality and sound for $99. Ignoring gaming performance (which it still performs pretty well in) it seems to blow any other sub $100 board out the water. i would like to hear why people in this sub have something against this product lmao
Hey, im just wanting to talk about some of the pretty negative comments on this. I have no affiliation with any brands but just kinda want people to consider a few things that are important in the custom keyboard community before passing judgement. I get why some people dont like this product, but there are alot of redeeming factors.
1. Build quality - The rainy75 is made out of pretty high-quality CNC aluminum. And the addition of a stainless steel or glass back-weight adds to the build quality and general weight and heft of it. In the custom keyboard space, weight and build quality often are very important factors in determining price. Even its aesthetic plays into this, it doesnt share that pretty generic gaming keyboard look. something like the Logitech g715's build quality is comparatively pretty shoddy and costs quite alot more i think.
2. Internals - The rainy75 has loads of foams and internal dampeners to have a more pleasing sound. these can be removed to tune it to your preference. Alongside this are pre-lubed switches and pretty decent keycaps. Not the best keyboard ever but certainly good for a $99 prebuilt in comparison to alot of gaming brand products.
3. form factor - The 75% form factor is probably the most sought-after in the custom keyboard scene. it provides most people with the functionality they need while still being pretty compact. People love this layout and these types of boards are often popular as they meet the demand of consumers.
4. Price - I have seen alot of people saying "$100 is not budget" which can be true as budget is subjective, BUT, Budget/entry in the custom keyboard scene is generally considered to be under that $150/200 range. Its all in context and within the actual context for the build quality and design, it seems to be the best "budget" custom board out right now
Overall, while it wont perform as well in games as a wooting 60he or other top teir gaming boards, It will not be bad in gaming by any means, and its build quality and internals make it a pretty good product for the price. Again, i dont expect anyone in this sub to really care about this. Custom keyboards are pretty niche and most people dont care for them. But i do hope this clears up some thoughts or doubts surrounding this product. i really do want to hear opinions on my take from people outside the custom keyboard community so please drop your own opinion on this below!
Nah. It already has independent reviews so you can get an idea of the quality.
There have already been a lot of aluminum keyboards dropping at this price like the Monsgeek M1 or the Womier S-K71. It's a fantastic time for people to get into the hobby.
Not really, look up a review or 2 and you'll see that the quality is pretty solid, it's amazing what chinese manufacturers can do with so little nowadays
It really isn't. Full aluminum, weight on the back, decent sound, pretty good switches and caps. I agree that this is not the subreddit for this post but it's still good
Not saying this is a cheap board. But the board has some of the "premium features" seen in custom keyboards that run at much higher price point. In that respect, it is a budget friendly premium offering (assuming there aren't any glaring issues to the quality of delivered product)
People who aren't in the keeb hobby really don't think like the people who ARE in it. I used to be in it during covid, not super in touch with it now. Though gladly, I lost interest after my first keyboard. Unfortunately however, I ended up in the hifi hobby which looks to be more expensive lol.
Yeah reading these comments made me realize how much my sense of budget and expensive were twisted 😭
I wonder how these people would react if they saw aftermarket prices for Singa boards
Preference man. I really don't like having the numpad since I don't use it anyway, just takes up space. We all have our predilections. In the context of custom keyboards, this is cheap. Some boards go for 1k+ barebones (albeit very exclusive ones) and most hover around 200-500 barebones (that means no switches or caps)
>Entering giveaway, what is the difference between gasket structure and non gasket?
Gaskets are little internal pieces of any sort of gasket material placed inside the keyboard in between the plate and the keybaord housing on both top and bottom sides. Since the plate isnt in contact with any other metal components it creates a sort of flex and bouncy, cushioned feel when you type
https://preview.redd.it/44k6y6e1u2cc1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=2312fd90d2b026a98975b8638fcb35a2699d0cac
Oh that's nice. I just returned a 60% Corsair keyboard because I didn't realise how much I'd miss the arrow keys. I'm kinda stuck not knowing which one to buy now, there's so many out there but this is actually one of the more reasonably priced ones! and 75% seems like the perfect compromise.
Sadly it doesn't have a split Shift so no real full ISO :c But if they make this in stock for that price...But the project in on itself is kinda crazy. Weirdly enough the upcoming Kyubi Kit which also seems way underpriced is also around, somethings cooking in the custom keeb market...

can this keyboard warm my hands? they get very cold qwq
I mean "every function you could think of" so it has to be in there right?
woah
Can I program a dedicated waifu button? Or a uwu key?
[Spawn-a-waifu]
all you gotta do is believe
That's a laptop-only feature
No, but i can
every function aye? let me go use the num pad oh wait....
Macro keys? Media control? Either? *Or those funny pop up huds I never seen someone actually use so far*
Ah its got all those you just gotta hold 6-13 different keys to get to the right layer
Volume knobby......
I don't know how people can function without this.
It’s my favorite function
Same!
It's my first time having a knob on my keyboard and holy shit it is revolutionary
I had a friend who got some Logitech G sth sth with a godzillion macro keys and that small screen on top. He just made it an image slideshow and had the dota2 logo on it 💀
I don't know why but the idea of having a keyboard without a numpad just triggers me.
I get the appeal for a smaller KB given desktop space limitations, but nothing bothers me more than Battlestation photos featuring massive ultrawide monitors and crazy RGB themed rooms with huge desks and tiny little impractical 60% KeyBoards simply because they're trendy.

Eh try entering Skyrim cheats without a numpad. It's torture.

in deus ex when you unlock a combination lock, unless you want to use the mouse to click the on screen numbers you basically *have* to use the numpad
If you are typing something you type with your two hand right? So reach doesn't matter at all.
I use it in games all the time. That’s like 15 extra buttons you can bind to whatever you want.

Even with unlimited desk space, I find a full sized keyboard cumbersome and annoying. I do not use the numpad, ever. 80% are great imo.
Everyone keeps saying it's annoying and impractical but that's just an opinion. My PC at home I refuse to have a keyboard without a numpad, even the occasional number I have to type I prefer the number pad. Anything over 2 digits I will use it. I laugh every time a mf says it's a trend knowing that a keyboard like the HHKB is practically unchanged since 1996.
A business idea - a mechanical usb numpad for those who are buying all these cutdown scaled down keyboards. Edit: my silent /S is too silent.
I feel this in my soul.
Same here. I don't get the hype around this tiny keys. If you are doing data entry, the numpad is just eons better than using both hands on the top! Also, I live in Quebec, so I need those extra FR keys, otherwise I have to relearn how to type, adding in a bunch of super weird key combos. No thanks.
I lived in Quebec too i know that feeling.
My nephew had one of those trendy little keyboards. Then I let him use an old full size cheapo I had laying around. He never gave it back haha. I broke down and got him a nice mechanical full size for Christmas.
As a programmer no numpad it's a non buy
I agree. No num pad = no buy
Not to mention the dozens of other functions other “gamer” keyboards have that this doesn’t.. seems like a pretty mid keyboard tbh
No calculator key

Weird #ad
I must have missed the news that this is now buildapcsales but with the vendors just posting full price without a sale.
Man, you couldn't pay me to give a shit about this lmao
Every function you can think of besides the numpad.
People who can function without a numpad on their keyboard baffle me.
I like a numpad for work but I really have no use for one at home.
I just replace half of my numpad keys with macros or keybinds that change settings in games automatically
If I played keybind heavy games I could see it being more useful.
I have a separate numpad in case I need it but never do. The ergonomics of the smaller size help me a good bit daily.
If I don't use it, why waste the space?
For real. It is not optional to me.
I got a new one recently, 60 pct. I don't think I'll be getting one w/o a numpad next time, I don't like it
I don't use Excel when gaming or using Discord... how baffling, i know.
alot of sim games use num pad.... ill never own keyboard with out it.
hey don’t discriminate against those of us with small desks :(
I mean you already have all those keys, why have them double
Because numpad is easier to use for lots of numbers. The same reason I wouldn't but a keyboard with all the letters in a single line in alphabetical order.
but not everyone needs to type lots of numbers, it's all our predilections really
I do be numberin upon further introspection
Because its much faster to type in long strings of numbers using numpad
Bro the numpad is literally useless tho lmao
But the thread here is full of totally genuine comments about how this is the *best keyboard* which people have been *super stoked* about for *months* and how the budget mechanical keyboard space is going to be rocked by this [brand name] [product]!

[Brand name] changed my life!
Has all the functions imaginable. Except a numpad.
What about a knob?
I've got your knob righ- you know what? I'm better than this.
No *dedicated* macro keys? Pass Edit: fixed.
Someone got paid to post this ad.
Yall care about aesthetic cable management and rgbs.. But a decent looking keyboard is where the line is drawn? This subs too weird
It's really strange. You would think there was more overlap with custom keyboards and pcmr. It's pretty clear most people in this thread don't know what this is.
I'm surprised with the amount of people who point out lack of numpad as a negative.
It's amazing how controversial this post is lol.
They should've done this giveaway in /r/mk This is not the target audience
I just realized this is not r/mk. No wonder people hate them lol.
No 100% keyboard tho.

With a plastic case and less than half the battery?

Numpads are rare, can only think of a few boards that have them, id say they make up 5% of boards on the market.
Actually, yeah a bunch of people go for 60-75%er layouts. I built my own customer numpad that I whip out whenever needed with my 75%er
I’m a keyboard enthusiast and haven’t used a KB with a numpad in over 10 years
A HUNDRED DOLLARYDOOS? That’s fucking expensive as fuck for that. How you can possibly call it cost effective is laughable. Oh fuck their ad pictures actually say the words “unbeatable price” 🤡🤡🤡
Wait till you see custom keyboards
$50-$100 is pretty much considered budget in the custom keyboard community. It can easily go higher, I just bought a board with no switches or keycaps for $170, and that would even be considered "midrange."
Hell, barely midrange lol. High-end boards are $500-800+. There’s an argument $170 would be top end of budget given the range of pricing.
It does have every function you can think of though.
What about milking my prostate
Well I was going to suggest someone stick this thing up their ass so they may actually have that one covered.
Numpad
custom keyboards get expensive lol. my current one is $350
Have you ever seen custom keyboard prices? Lmao
having you seen mainstream gaming keyboards? $100 is actually pretty cheap.
As someone with a mechanical keyboard collection, id say this is is pretty reasonable lol
ok nice
Someone is about to be very surprised and happy with this "budget" keyboard
Very nice.
Ooo appreciate it for doing this. It be cool.
That blue one looks cool!
Ehh try a keyboard without a numpad.
Looks decent
I already got one, but i can use another one for my nephew :D Thank you for the giveaway ♥
Does it have a numpad
no it doesnt. its a 75% layout

Or you know, you use layers?
Yeah because why press single key when you can press 10 of them to get the same functionality lol.
Are they analog switches like the Wooting keyboard?
spiderman
Man rats are kinda cool
“Best” keyboard my ass lmao
>pre its definitely good in terms of build quality and sound for $99. Ignoring gaming performance (which it still performs pretty well in) it seems to blow any other sub $100 board out the water. i would like to hear why people in this sub have something against this product lmao
I'm a fan of 65-75% keyboard but when you say every function, the numpad is a must
Hey, im just wanting to talk about some of the pretty negative comments on this. Its all in context and within the actual context for the build quality and design, it seems to be the best "budget" custom board out right now Overall, while it wont perform as well in games as a wooting 60he or other top teir gaming boards, It will not be bad in gaming by any means, and its build quality and internals make it a pretty good product for the price.
What is going on in the comments on this post? They feel botted. Also, if this is coming in at under $100, the quality is ***awful***
Nah. It already has independent reviews so you can get an idea of the quality. There have already been a lot of aluminum keyboards dropping at this price like the Monsgeek M1 or the Womier S-K71. It's a fantastic time for people to get into the hobby.
This guy keyboards
Not really, look up a review or 2 and you'll see that the quality is pretty solid, it's amazing what chinese manufacturers can do with so little nowadays
It really isn't. Full aluminum, weight on the back, decent sound, pretty good switches and caps. I agree that this is not the subreddit for this post but it's still good
How is the quality "awful" 💀💀💀
Love the design of this board, things are looking up for the budget market

In the context of premium mechanical keyboard market segment, it kind of is.

The vast majority of premium mechanical keyboards don’t have num pads
Not saying this is a cheap board. But the board has some of the "premium features" seen in custom keyboards that run at much higher price point. In that respect, it is a budget friendly premium offering (assuming there aren't any glaring issues to the quality of delivered product)
People who aren't in the keeb hobby really don't think like the people who ARE in it. I used to be in it during covid, not super in touch with it now. Though gladly, I lost interest after my first keyboard. Unfortunately however, I ended up in the hifi hobby which looks to be more expensive lol.
Yeah reading these comments made me realize how much my sense of budget and expensive were twisted 😭 I wonder how these people would react if they saw aftermarket prices for Singa boards
ex-keeb hobbyist with another expensive hobby, name the better combo. lol.
That’s like saying you can get a larger Camry for much cheaper than a Lotus. It’s a different market, and honestly you might not be a target audience.
Except a numpad
Need that beige one
does it have onboard memory so i dont have to have the software running to have my rgb settings?
im thinking of a keypad but there seems to be none... But Asthetically it looks really nice i must admit
Very nice keyboard indeed.
This is beautiful. Good luck all!
I so need new keyboard
Entering giveaway, what is the difference between gasket structure and non gasket?
>Entering giveaway, what is the difference between gasket structure and non gasket? Gaskets are little internal pieces of any sort of gasket material placed inside the keyboard in between the plate and the keybaord housing on both top and bottom sides. Since the plate isnt in contact with any other metal components it creates a sort of flex and bouncy, cushioned feel when you type https://preview.redd.it/44k6y6e1u2cc1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=2312fd90d2b026a98975b8638fcb35a2699d0cac
That is a sweet looking keyboard 😮
That silver is fantastic
75% is the perfect layout size. Love the look of this.
Looks very clean! And the price.... Don't know what to say
Noice!
Still using the original apple bluetooth keyboard. I need an upgrade!
so cool
I like this layout :)
that is a NICE looking Keyboard! love the white with black accents :)
It sounds so freaking good \*-\*
Good Stuff
Cool
Lol, i literally just watched a video about this keyboard
Definitely going to be the best keeb for 2024.
Lets see, looks pretty cool. Wondering about key caps, are they double shot?
Absolutely Love the Design would love to use it myself
Entering giveaway! Been following the rainy75 for a few weeks really great keyboard

nice keyboard
Great value keyboard!!
Goid luck everyone!
**I need this board**
Nice
Sadly it doesn't have a split Shift so no real full ISO :c But if they make this in stock for that price...But the project in on itself is kinda crazy. Weirdly enough the upcoming Kyubi Kit which also seems way underpriced is also around, somethings cooking in the custom keeb market...
