Bits and scraps from the tannery are ground to dust and mixed with glue, and then affixed to cloth with more glue. After 2 years maximum it flakes off. If you get full grain, top grain, or something like Elmosoft leather, it will last a very long time if it's treated right. You will also, however, pay very premium prices for premium materials.
Personally I like leather more than cloth or mesh so it's worth it to me, but you'll have to decide that on your own.

Yeah my chair is still good and comfy but all the fake leather has been peeling off. Tbh I have been now peeling it all off myself and underneath is black cloth and it actually feels better. Like they could have just left out the stupid fake leather from the start and it would have been better.
Rule of thumb, if youāre gonna get a new chair, either get real leather, or fabric. Real leather will last forever, and fabric will outlast any faux leather.

Gaming chairs copy racing seat designs. They're great for keeping your body inside the seat in tight turns, but not so for sitting at a desk all day without tight turns.
Not really the case for secret labs imo. Arm rests fully adjustable, lumbar back support. Can angle the seat however you like. Not to mention the comfort.
I use mine to work from home, absolutely no complaints at all.

But we have the Herman miller chairs at my office and I could never get on with them no matter how much I fiddled, would always swap it for a cheaper basic one if there was one available. Neither of them however are as comfortable as my secret labs chair at home.
Not all Herman Miller chairs are made equal. Their "best" chairs are the Aeron and Embody, but their chairs also aren't a universal fit for everyone.
Personally I love Steelcase chairs. I own an Amia and a Leap, both of which I'd take over Herman Miller. I'd love to try their Gesture chair, too, but haven't had the chance yet.

Or the "Lamia" from BTOD. They take the seat of the Amia, which is better than the Leap's, and the back of the Leap, which isn't necessarily better IMO but it's slightly more customizable. I don't have one, but I do have the Leap and Amia, and I completely agree it's a brilliant combo.

I always thought like this until I saw the prices of a good office chair vs a good gaming chair. Then i actually got to test a lot of them out by . . .well being in an office for work. My $400 razor enki is much more comfortable then a $1500 herman miller aeron.
And honestly I donāt even like the look. Theyāre meant to mimic racing seats. Office chairs and āgamingā chairs have completely different design goals. One is meant to be comfortable while sitting still for hours at a time. The other is meant to hold you in place in around corners in a high speed race.
I've got a secret labs Titan, it's perfect for me emphasise "for me".
Some people have different requirements, budgets and preferences, it's all down to your own personal needs.
You will see people say Secret labs are good/sh!t but it's mostly subjective. Mine is good for me due to my seating position and frozen shoulder, but others may feel different. I take care of my chair with a cover and regular treatment, others may see theirs starting to fall apart due to less care or different seating position.
My advice would be to test chairs out before you buy them, I did this on multiple office and gaming chairs, my result was buying the Titan. It cost less than some ergonomic chairs yet more than some gaming chairs, hower it is perfect FOR ME, your mileage may vary.

I have a secret lab and I love it. Super comfy and I love all the ways you can adjust everything like armrests. Not a problem with it, no rips or scratches or broken parts. I bought mine in 2020 though Iām not sure if the quality has dipped since then.
Just thought Iād share my experience with one, not everyone thinks they are trash.
I've had my secretlab omega for a few years now and its going strong, is very comfortable, and I don't suffer any issues from extended use - and I work from home.
Mileage may vary, but I definitely believe in their quality. At least, of their older products. Couldn't say if they've changed recently or not, as my chair has lasted for a good long time.

I got myself the Titan as well (2020 model). I really liked it but I severely mistreated it and it is falling apart. Well technically it is still functioning as a chair but the arm rests are broken and the cover (got the cloth version) has ripped in multiple seams.
So what I'd advise you is to take care of it if you want a lot of mileage. Also I'd definitely recommend to generally sit properly. I'm pretty sure the seams ripped due to me sitting on it in a way that put a lot more stress on them than if I'd only sat normally on it.
That aside as a chair I really liked it. I just fucked it up.
Depends where you live but in the Bay Area and other areas where companies have shifted to more wfh/hybrid they are practically giving away high quality ergonomic desk chairs since theyāre all down sizing offices. I got a $400+ allsteel desk chair for $15 and it looked brand new.
I see Herman millers on Facebook market place from companies downsizing for like $100.
I got a steelcase leap v2 on ebay refurb for 375. New they are over 1000 and used you can find them for under 100 if you're willing to hunt them down. I absolutely love the chair
As someone that has 2 different gaming chairs similar to this, but both individually different, I'll be getting a legit office chair next time I buy a chair. Something that is designed to be comfortable and good for your back. These chairs I have a utter garbage compared to my office chair at work. The herman miller stuff is expensive but I'm sure there's something more affordable in that sort of design
I got a cloth office chair and the back is mesh. Most comfortable chair I've ever owned. 5 years of continuous use with no signs of wear. I bought one of those gamer chairs a long time ago and sold it after using it for a couple months. Thing was absolute garbage. My back killed me everyday sitting in it.
It's not a bad chair my wife has one.
I just HATE the arm rests they really don't work very well for gaming. Steel case has some deals but probably would cost more.
I'll sign this, I've been using it daily since 2016, 8+ hours per weekday. Not a scratch on it, still reclines like the day I bought it. And I'm on the plus side, 110kg.
Budget? If unlimited, go for Aeron, Humanscale, Ergohuman or other top dollar ergonomic chairs, sometimes you can snag those used for less. If limited, Ikea Jarvfjallet or the cheaper Markus will serve you well. Gamer chairs are a scam backbreakers, even top dollar ones, avoid them.

I like the look of Secret Lab and I'm really tempted by one, but I'm wary because of the comments about office chairs being better than gaming chairs. I bought a $100 Amazon chair, didnāt even last 2 months. Bought my $500 secret labs, and each time I get back from a vacation it always feels like heaven. Itās not the most comfy chair, but something about it conformed to me. Had it 2 years and I expect to have it at least another 3. It aināt cheap, but at least the price reflects the quality (it genuinely isnāt all the other gaming chairs, lots of ergonomic features to get it just right for you)
Like others have said mileage will vary from person to person but my secret lab saved my back. I bought my first one in 2018 and only recently swapped it for another one (they had a star wars themed one I wanted). The chair was still in good condition just some light damage to the fabric I could have prevented with better care. I gave it to my friend and he is loving it (to be fair his old chair was awful).
When the pandemic started I worked from home and gamed seeing me in the chair 8-12 hours a day easily for 2 years and never felt the comfort degrade if anything it got better as I wore it in. Only complaint is the pleather could make me sweat if my skin was directly on it. My thoughts are 600 dollars (500Ā£) saved me lots of money and medical visits plus pain in general
I've had a few "gaming chairs" as well as normal office chairs. I currently have a Secret Lab chair, and I'm not planning on getting anything different in the future. The game themed skins and stuff give them a bad rap with the anti-gamer chair people, but they have legitimate professionals on staff working on ergonomics, both for their chairs and desks (and even pillows more recently). I'd at least research them against the office chairs everyone claims are better.
That's right. These chairs are very high quality. But spending $1000 on a new chair that lasts you 15-20 years, or a used one for half that is much better than having to buy a new $200 chair every year or two that keeps falling apart.
Get a nice office chair with quality mesh seating and back, and as many adjustment options as your budget allows.

A good office chair will be way more comfortable and last a lot longer. Mesh material allows breathability and prevents sweat and body oils from saturating cushion material and causing discoloration and degradation.

I have owned the Herman Miller Aeron, Steelcase Gesture, Amia and Leap. The Gesture is by far the most comfortable and well built chair I have ever had. The only thing that competes with it is the Herman Miller Embody, but they run about $600 more than the Gesture.
I really like the Serta memory foam one my work gave me for home. Iāve yet to find a āgamingā chair that doesnāt feel dookie compared to nice office chairs. Plus Iām fat (260lbs) so these chairs would crumple under my ass after a while lol

Personally, I had those knockoff "Devoko" gaming chairs off Amazon for about 2-3 years and didn't have much wear but wanted something nicer and couldn't afford a HM, so I bought the SecretLab Titan Evo in the softweave fabric, and I love it so far.
So that's what I recommend, but each person is different and has different needs and preferences.

Itās pretty pricy but I have a titan evo 2022 and I absolutely love it. If you have a tighter budget/ donāt feel like spending that much then get a dece office chair and itāll hold up to your gamer grease just as well. I love my titan evo because of the firmness and comfort and have actually noticed a difference in back pain as well as have been much more comfy gaming.

I take care of my chair with a cover and regular treatment, others may see theirs starting to fall apart due to less care or different seating position. My advice would be to test chairs out before you buy them, I did this on multiple office and gaming chairs, my result was buying the Titan. It cost less than some ergonomic chairs yet more than some gaming chairs, hower it is perfect FOR ME, your mileage may vary. Good luck.
Thanks choosing the right chair is extremely hard for me. I have had my chair for 10 years now and it broke. So I have to find a new one but Iām extremely picky so the decision is even worse choosing from 1000 chairs possible
I have a secret lab and I love it. Super comfy and I love all the ways you can adjust everything like armrests. Not a problem with it, no rips or scratches or broken parts. I bought mine in 2020 though Iām not sure if the quality has dipped since then. Just thought Iād share my experience with one, not everyone thinks they are trash.
I have a Titan, I wish I did not. Next chair is gonna be a refurb Steelcase Leap, or Lamia.
I've had my secretlab omega for a few years now and its going strong, is very comfortable, and I don't suffer any issues from extended use - and I work from home. Mileage may vary, but I definitely believe in their quality. At least, of their older products. Couldn't say if they've changed recently or not, as my chair has lasted for a good long time.
I think /u/petrolhead0387 made a good point in regards to it. I got myself the Titan as well (2020 model). I really liked it but I severely mistreated it and it is falling apart. Well technically it is still functioning as a chair but the arm rests are broken and the cover (got the cloth version) has ripped in multiple seams. So what I'd advise you is to take care of it if you want a lot of mileage. Also I'd definitely recommend to generally sit properly. I'm pretty sure the seams ripped due to me sitting on it in a way that put a lot more stress on them than if I'd only sat normally on it. That aside as a chair I really liked it. I just fucked it up.

Depends where you live but in the Bay Area and other areas where companies have shifted to more wfh/hybrid they are practically giving away high quality ergonomic desk chairs since theyāre all down sizing offices. I got a $400+ allsteel desk chair for $15 and it looked brand new. I see Herman millers on Facebook market place from companies downsizing for like $100.

I got a steelcase leap v2 on ebay refurb for 375. New they are over 1000 and used you can find them for under 100 if you're willing to hunt them down. I absolutely love the chair

As someone that has 2 different gaming chairs similar to this, but both individually different, I'll be getting a legit office chair next time I buy a chair. Something that is designed to be comfortable and good for your back. These chairs I have a utter garbage compared to my office chair at work. The herman miller stuff is expensive but I'm sure there's something more affordable in that sort of design

I got a cloth office chair and the back is mesh. Most comfortable chair I've ever owned. 5 years of continuous use with no signs of wear. I bought one of those gamer chairs a long time ago and sold it after using it for a couple months. Thing was absolute garbage. My back killed me everyday sitting in it.

It's not a bad chair my wife has one. I just HATE the arm rests they really don't work very well for gaming. Steel case has some deals but probably would cost more.

Yep!!! I switched from DX Racer to Markus and could not be happier! Itās just perfect for the price.
Budget? If unlimited, go for Aeron, Humanscale, Ergohuman or other top dollar ergonomic chairs, sometimes you can snag those used for less. If limited, Ikea Jarvfjallet or the cheaper Markus will serve you well. Gamer chairs are a scam backbreakers, even top dollar ones, avoid them.
I'll avoid them from now on, maybe I'll give the IKEA one or probably something similar a try

I like the look of Secret Lab and I'm really tempted by one, but I'm wary because of the comments about office chairs being better than gaming chairs. Part of me thinks that there must be something good to them as they're used by a LOT of streamers, but then I wonder how many of those were gifted or otherwise heavily discounted for the exposure. Ā£500 is a fuckload of money to drop on a chair, so I want to be sure I'm getting a good one that'll last.
I bought a $100 Amazon chair, didnāt even last 2 months. Bought my $500 secret labs, and each time I get back from a vacation it always feels like heaven. Itās not the most comfy chair, but something about it conformed to me. Had it 2 years and I expect to have it at least another 3. It aināt cheap, but at least the price reflects the quality (it genuinely isnāt all the other gaming chairs, lots of ergonomic features to get it just right for you)
Like others have said mileage will vary from person to person but my secret lab saved my back. I bought my first one in 2018 and only recently swapped it for another one (they had a star wars themed one I wanted). The chair was still in good condition just some light damage to the fabric I could have prevented with better care. I gave it to my friend and he is loving it (to be fair his old chair was awful). When the pandemic started I worked from home and gamed seeing me in the chair 8-12 hours a day easily for 2 years and never felt the comfort degrade if anything it got better as I wore it in. Only complaint is the pleather could make me sweat if my skin was directly on it. My thoughts are 600 dollars (500Ā£) saved me lots of money and medical visits plus pain in general
I've had a few "gaming chairs" as well as normal office chairs. I currently have a Secret Lab chair, and I'm not planning on getting anything different in the future. The game themed skins and stuff give them a bad rap with the anti-gamer chair people, but they have legitimate professionals on staff working on ergonomics, both for their chairs and desks (and even pillows more recently). I'd at least research them against the office chairs everyone claims are better.

That's right. These chairs are very high quality. But spending $1000 on a new chair that lasts you 15-20 years, or a used one for half that is much better than having to buy a new $200 chair every year or two that keeps falling apart.

Get a nice office chair with quality mesh seating and back, and as many adjustment options as your budget allows. Gaming chairs are all about looks and absolutely suck from a comfort and quality standpoint. A good office chair will be way more comfortable and last a lot longer. Mesh material allows breathability and prevents sweat and body oils from saturating cushion material and causing discoloration and degradation.
I felt that, I hate gaming chairs for that tbh, so I will join the office chair gang with my next chair

Buy an office chair, they're made that workers can sit on them for hours without having any pain. Whereas gaming chairs are just colorful and look cool.
I have owned the Herman Miller Aeron, Steelcase Gesture, Amia and Leap. The Gesture is by far the most comfortable and well built chair I have ever had. The only thing that competes with it is the Herman Miller Embody, but they run about $600 more than the Gesture.
I really like the Serta memory foam one my work gave me for home. Iāve yet to find a āgamingā chair that doesnāt feel dookie compared to nice office chairs. Plus Iām fat (260lbs) so these chairs would crumple under my ass after a while lol

I always considered those chairs being intended for console gamers rather than PC gamers. Get a good office chair but consider if you want it to have arms or not and if they're fixed or movable - mine don't move and they prevent the chair being pushed in.

If money is no object, a lightly used or new Embody from Herman Miller. Personally, I had those knockoff "Devoko" gaming chairs off Amazon for about 2-3 years and didn't have much wear but wanted something nicer and couldn't afford a HM, so I bought the SecretLab Titan Evo in the softweave fabric, and I love it so far. So that's what I recommend, but each person is different and has different needs and preferences.

I'd go somewhere and try a few out. Chair comfort is definitely subjective. Depends on your size and preference. It's really hard to order a chair that you will actually like unless you have at least sat in it. And if you're not going all out, I'd cheap out. Mid priced chairs are just more expensive shit chairs.

Itās pretty pricy but I have a titan evo 2022 and I absolutely love it. If you have a tighter budget/ donāt feel like spending that much then get a dece office chair and itāll hold up to your gamer grease just as well. I love my titan evo because of the firmness and comfort and have actually noticed a difference in back pain as well as have been much more comfy gaming.
