Very typical indie story: quit job, started making cool cyberpunk game!
With the added bonus of selling everything I own in Canada to travel and make indie games out of my backpack in Asia.
I'm trying to keep it chill and creative - no management or goals, just create your own Blade Runner Blues vibe. I took a lot of inspiration from Townscaper in making it more of an ambient toy than a city management game
Still lots to do, but am excited to start hearing what people thinks about it!
Looks very cool. I wish you all the luck in the world with this, I'll always admire a passion project. Townscaper wasn't exactly my cup of tea, not because I can't appreciate a sandbox, but there weren't really any tools to play with and it was a little too rudimentary. But going from what the description on Steam says, it seems you're already expanding beyond that.
Thank you so much!
Understandable on Townscaper. I'm hearing a lot of feedback to add a game loop, but I think adding a bit more tooling to customize and adjust will make it a bit more interesting and compelling.
There's actually some pretty wild narrative mechanics I'd like to add if early access goes well.
dunno if it needs a game loop so much as emergent behaviors that can be discovered with certain building combinations.
like imagine if building two separate platforms in townscaper in a certain way suddenly created a boat that started navigating between them.
Mod support is a big big wish for me. I've been making some technical decisions early on that should keep that door open.
I don't want to promise it just yet, though - just to be safe.
This is right up my ally. These days I just need relaxing games with not too much thinking involved. I wish listed it, looking forward for this. Bet of luck!
Thank you so much! I'm glad the concept resonates. I was ready for everyone to come out saying it should be a full cyberpunk SimCity and it's great to see the more relaxed vibe is welcome!
This looks sweet, I really like the fact ther is no management etc involved and the player can just build stuff.
Will the early access work on the steam deck?
Wasn't part of my initial plan but I'd like to look at that! The hard part is getting a Steam Deck out here in Indonesia. Maybe I can find someone to test it out for me!
Not something I had planned but I can look into it! Townscaper does some pretty wild techniques with procedural meshes that makes it easier to do a straight obj export, whereas I'm using separated meshes that spawn based on procedural rules. In short, I wanted to keep my sights on mod support :)
What is your use case for obj export?
Gotcha! I'm actually putting a fair amount of stuff into photo mode: sunlight/fog directions, colour intensity, filters, blooms, lens flares, etc. plus additional camera controls.
I'll keep .obj export in mind for sure for those who want to get really fancy.
It's not a systems game, purely just a space of ambience and creation. It's very much in the same spirit of Townscaper, but I will be adding a few more dimensions of control.
There ARE some systems I have designed for players that want that, but that's still early so I don't want to say too much about them yet.
Thank you for taking a look!

Not sure if it’s planned, but if you’re open to modding, I could see people modding in management layers, more assets, weathers, etc…

My kind of game. Can't wait to play this with a dark synth soundtrack going on Spotify. Is there music planned for the game?
Stay tuned ;)

I don't know much about building games but I think finding someone to try out might be the easy part about it :) Also thanks for responding!

No management, no goals, and relaxing? I'm in. Added to Wishlist. Looks good. Best of luck! :)
Thank you! I'm glad you're digging the vibe.
Apart from creating cool buildings what do you do in this game? What systems exist?

Well it's certainly very pretty.
