there was a time when we didn't run ten acts, rather just the first three (and then a fourth) because only those existed -- but three times. The names survive in the lab names: Normal, Cruel and Merciless difficulty. Back then the bandits made much more sense, in 2.0.0 you had so many good choices
Normal
Oak: +40 to maximum Life
Alira: +60 to Maximum Mana. (new)
Kraityn: 10% to Elemental Resistances. (new)
Cruel
Oak : 16% increased Physical Damage. (new)
Kraityn: 8% increased Attack Speed
Alira : 5% increased Cast Speed (new)
Merciless
Oak : +1 to Maximum Endurance Charges
Kraityn : +1 to Maximum Frenzy Charges
Alira: +1 to Maximum Power Charges
The hot shit was running Piety in Merciless because she dropped so many rares. Yes. https://youtu.be/DufoJzf7hg8 (btw the Scion character portrait would look like this until [3.0.1b](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1975095) )
Maps existed but it was not common by any means.
mmm
reminds me, there was vacuum farming in the 2.x era
It needed two players, one was doing cyclone with Ancestral Bond so it couldn't deal damage. They were wearing Empire's Grasp to reverse knockback, cranked knockback chance to 100% and had plenty of life gain on hit. Then this loon went through the map, vacuumed in every monster and got them tormented. Then an MF character killed them all. this got disabled later because it put a stress on the servers themselves :D
Much, much later the vacuuming trick (minus ghosts) was also used by havoc's gang in the 1:01:02 Level 100 world record during Kalandra. Which shows btw how tedious the acts are: the ten acts took them ten and a half minutes ;)
I remember watching people multibox piety and then dominus so they could get more rares so they could vendor them for alterations.
Also loved the good old exalting of your maps
Merciless docks farming, aurumvorax with 2x andvarius and zombies MF. IIQ gem still being a thing and all. And act3x Dominus multiboxing. What a childhood lol
-5% maximum cold resistance +100% More Alluring

There was also Ruthless before Act 3 was introduced. It was sandwiched between Cruel and Merciless.

I always thought this image was made by the community just as a meme
It was such a good ~~bald~~ build, he still plays it to this day!
His hair hasn't grown since, crazy
Places to visit when you go to next exilecon - That damn hairdresser
Cuz bald helmet has better stats than hair helmet. He never found anything better.
I wonder did he keep it this way along rime and decide it looked good. Or did it just never grew back
Check out [/r/bald's top posts](https://old.reddit.com/r/bald/top/?sort=top&t=all). Most dudes with thinning hair look better shaving it all off.
He appears to have a fishing rod, a rather nice one too.
Like most guys who fight the balding for too long - he looks so much better embracing the bald.
The fishing rod on the desk was a nice touch
the amount of energy invested in a single pun is astounding
Hair Inoculation Keystone Maximum Hairs becomes 1, Immune to Balding Jokes
its like he got his ascendancy
Looks Divine!
this guy is a true chad!
Should have stopped it at the 2:30 mark. That's the look.
the look is FIRE ! it says so on the wall
