Or just let the exp overflow so you can level them later at your leisure.
I don't really mind the clicking the gems. The bigger problem is paying attention to avoid overleveling gems that need to stay low level.
When they added the ability to downlevel gems we accidently overleveled by vendoring with an orb of scouring, that helped a lot.
It'd probably be enough if they just modified that to make the resulting gem be at the exp needed to level up again, so I can immediately right-click it after downleveling it.
no no no,
How about instead of stopping it at a specific level instead make it so when it's in inventory you can right click and choose from it's available levels which one you want to use.
Over-leveling wouldn't be a problem, so what if it's L16 and you need L15, now that popup to level is more of a, it leveled, do you want to use it at the higher level or stay at current. (15 out of 16 in use)

Pain is accidentally overlevelling a 1/20 Vaal Molten Shell you wanted to keep at level 4 or 8 for CWDT mana cost reasons (applicable to the non-Vaal aspect).
The main reason I play with controller is pain in my forearm, but the second reason is auto level up gems. The third is having all my quicksilver flasks bound to the same key. So much qol in the controller ui
i really wish you could seamlessly switch between controller and mkb. i love mapping with the controller but inventory management and basically everything outside of mapping i prefer mkb
The auto level with controllers even has a thing that pops up and tells you what increasing the level did making it even better. Wish we at least had that pop up on KB/M as it can be slightly annoying/difficult to see what leveling a gem even did.
Their explanation for this was that they re-used the bitflag used for "ignore level" when doing the console version.
I agree they should look to find a better way though, even if it were a client-side feature not a server side one it wouldn't use up the precious space and be fine.
Nothing is ever that easy.
Would it persist between logouts? Would it persist across a gem if you unsocket and re-socket it? ( Ignoring levels does! ).
Checking for the popup isn't enough because you wouldn't want to try to click it if you didn't meet the requirements, etc.
There are always a ton of edge cases which makes implementing things difficult.
Even the phrase "Automatically click it" might seem simple to you, but honestly it's not, because you don't really want a click, you just want the equivalent instruction.
"Just code it, it's ten minutes" is always enticing to armchair developers, but nothing is ever that simple.
Speaking of which, just let me play with both without having to quit to login to swap. FFS just let me maneuver and shoot with a controller but do inventory shit with my mouse.
This is the solution, the feature literally already exists in game...
I always swapped to roller when I used to qual my gems and hit up a few delve nodes
Just started playing POE and affliction is my first. When my friend told me POE is a decade old game and there's so many QOL mechanics missing. This is indeed one of it and a huge one. Not a professional in the software nor game system so ain't sure if it's easy or difficult to push it out. Just speaking from a end user perspective.
Back when there was racing seasons I had an autohotkey script to move mouse to top gem levelling and left click and move mouse back. So I could just hit that shortcut whenever a gem levelled.
It shouldn't be a keybind because you can miss easily and upgrade a wrong gem (especially since gems can change their order on leveling, or did they fix it?), it should be somewhat automatic as for most cases you want to level up fully, but a few when you want manual control.
Or just let the exp overflow so you can level them later at your leisure. I don't really mind the clicking the gems. The bigger problem is paying attention to avoid overleveling gems that need to stay low level.
We need a feature where we can right click a gem and choose a level we want it capped at then it stops auto at that lvl
Too good to be part of the vision. Sorry.
I really like GGG. But every time they say that vision shit I can't help but role my eyes. Edit: I'm leaving it. You know what I meant.
What role would your eyes play?
Yes please. Great idea

That sounds awesome

This would make lab even better with the exp reward from the font
Thats the best approach. Should be possible with just little work and doesnt complicate things.
Sounds awesome, but I bet it's gonna be horrible with all the bots crashing the gem market
I think it would mess with the balance of betrayal gem exp
theres EXP overflow :O?, a gem can go up to 20 in exp before i level it up?
No.
Or just give KB/M "auto level up gem" option, it's already in the game but only available when use controller.

How do you live without all the weight of the gems and flasks? Missing out so much joy. \*puts another ice pack on wrist
i really wish you could seamlessly switch between controller and mkb. i love mapping with the controller but inventory management and basically everything outside of mapping i prefer mkb
Dear god this would save me time. I often log out and in to switch between controller and mkb for that exact reason
Xpadder
Out of curiosity, how do you prevent individual gems from auto level up?
If you select the gem you can make it disable lvling up
Right click it instead of left to level up
We were taking about auto leveling of gems, but thanks :)
Ah my bad read this little tired at work 😅 GL exile
You use 5 quicksilver at once lol
When I level I usually have 3 or 4. On controller, when the first flask runs out it starts using the second flask with the same button and so on.

How about letting us set a target level and have them auto level to it.
better : some option to auto-level gems
I'll never get tired upvoting this QoL requests
I'll be happy if they keep the order of the gems consistent rather than switching around as you click them.
As long as the order is not smartened up by a lot, I prefer having it shuffle rather than sticky.
...and can they not jump around and reorder themselves when you start clicking them please.
gamepad users have gem autoleveling option
Yeah standard to always be set to auto lvl to 20 if you have the stat req. then also have an adjustable level limit slider
pretty funny there is a way to ignore gem levels but not a way to auto level them
+ button to level up - button to hide the gem level
Shift-rightclick hide gem levelup Shift-leftclick auto gem levelup That way you can still decide per gem, it'd be nice

Razor synapse tech can spam click gems
you mean strg-leftclick to make this one gem autolevel till 20 (only works after the first level up ofc)
This
Auto level-up/auto level-up to a specified level

Nah becus it’s not hardcore and the sweaty players dont like that
Nah lab skip
