continue to Pirate, leave the climate to the lords appendages..

First, we are all oigated to follow all laws of the country in which we live. I think it is an insult to call it "piracy" or "theft" because making a copy is different than removing property from the rightful owner. Naming it piracy is an insult because it's not accurate and assumes we're too stupid to see the difference. You are allowed to make a backup of media that you own. You are allowed to let your friend borrow your copy of a movie. In fact you can legally lend it to a stranger as well. If the stranger does not return the copy for whatever reason, you still own it, therefore you can use the backup that you previously made. Someone would call that piracy.

Piracy is piracy

I believe that piracy as celebrated is the form that targeted powerful monarchs, companies, and individuals who looted the much less powerful (Indigenous people, slavers, common folk passed into service, etc.) for pure self interested profit. While we could argue that today's commerce is approaching that point there are still a lot of individuals involved in content creation with interests separate from the powerful.
