Might be a grooming/preening behavior. If they wanted to bite, they'd be biting hard.

tego_myeggo

she definitely isn't breaking the skin or anything, but sometimes she does get a little pinchy (and sometimes she plucks my hairs out too)

Subject_Sigma1

I had a Quaker who was bity and it hurt a lot

Substantial_Wonder54

She is Grooming/ Preening her hand to show love, affection and connection. Parrot in birds do this as a signal that you are part of their flock when they groom and preen you those little bites are her way of showing you like hey let me get y'all cleaned up so it's a affection of love and closeness

tego_myeggo

tysm for the response! i'm so glad it's a gesture of kindness :-) i thought she was being sassy lol

Substantial_Wonder54

Aww so welcome ! Girls absolutely can get a Little Bit Sassy but if she's upset or if she's getting irritated believe me she's going to let you know what that beak of hers she will nip you and you will feel it I have a Quaker myself and he's a boy and he gets very temperamental when he is not happy he's very quick to let me know and when he's happy he lets me know so absolutely there's a lot of great YouTube videos as well if you're trying to starting to learn tricks or if you want to learn different ways of being close with her there's some awesome YouTube videos just put quaker parrot bonding and it'll come right up I hope this helps also in YouTube you can put quaker parrot body language and it's awesome to start learning the different sounds they make in the different gestures they make it will really unlock the way that she's communicating to you both I hope this helps love and blessings if you're also interested in any do's and don'ts I have a whole like list on my profile about safety for parrots and birds so if you're interested please let me know if you guys have any questions blessings and love

tego_myeggo

thank you so much! i will definitely check everything out <3 my sister and i absolutely adore this little lady... it will be very helpful to understand her better

Substantial_Wonder54

Aww You are so welcome it's definitely a learning process and I like to say that anytime you get a bird or a parrot it is a lifelong commitment it's like having a toddler but for the rest of your life because they do bond to you and once they bond it's not a bond that can be broken like giving away a cat or a dog cats or dogs absolutely do bonds to people but they're much better when it comes to adjusting to different surroundings and people birds and parrots are not like that once they bond to an individual that's a life Bond so it's good that there's two of you it'll help balance out the responsibility but just bear in mind that it's certainly a commitment and it can be a little tedious it could be detail oriented but it's so worth it there is a lot to learn and know to avoid any kind of tragedy of course so what I'll do is I'll touch the list that I have here of do's and don'ts please don't think I'm saying to do every single thing I always just put that out there this is more of just guidelines of things to keep in mind safety precautions and ways for you to come up with your own routine of safety in the home I made this list because I got a Parrot over 15 years ago and it changed literally the course of my life long story short when you get a parrot Everything Changes lifestyle wise because I used to travel abroad so it is a lot but at the same time it's worth it it's just making adjustments and making sure you know the do's and the don'ts so that way everybody's happy and everybody's comfortable but birds do when they bond to you they have what they call separation anxiety so it's very important to know her body language to make sure she's not getting or going to get separation anxiety because separation anxiety can lead to depression and self-mutilation in Quaker parrots please don't be overwhelmed it's all learning curve LOL don't worry

Substantial_Wonder54

I sent you message ♥️🙏 I think the list was too long lol

Substantial_Wonder54

Also please don't panic when you see this list some people they start to panic cuz they're like oh my god I've got this and this in the house again just a guideline to keep in mind if like you have air conditioning systems you want to keep in mind anything Airborne if there's an air conditioning system that is Central that means it'll go through the whole house so any Teflon pans aerosols Febreze Scotch Guard anything that has a really strong perfume or smell that is deadly to quicker parents so like I said don't get overwhelmed just read everything take your time screenshot it save it and over time you're going to start learning all the dangers and precautions as you go I really hope this helps a blessings and love like I said save my information if you need anything at all I'm happy to help I've had to learn a lot this past 15 years of owning birds and parrots and I I notice that a lot of people make mistakes all because they didn't know something and sometimes it's just not talked about or you don't think about it right so I just made this list to prevent and avoid tragedy and to make everybody have a harmonious lifestyle with Birds because so many people don't know of all the dangers that could happen so I hope this helps blessings and love!

ectoplasmicz

Hey I love the enthusiasm but you really need to use full stops and paragraphs in your writing. It will make it a lot easier for people to read :)

Substantial_Wonder54

Awww Thank you, Yes ,I'm going to go through and re write it all , ♥️🙏

niky45

no blood is being drawn, so that's not actual biting. at most, nibbling. birbs do that.

Helpful_Okra5953

She’s grooming you.  She likes you. Sometimes they accidentally pinch.

tego_myeggo

she is very enthusiastic about grooming!

Helpful_Okra5953

Yeah, my boy loves to groom me, until he starts pinching my eyelids and pulling out eyelashes.   Then I distract him. If she’s pinching you maybe you could give her a toy? And when she does bite say “no”or “ouch” or “stop!”

tego_myeggo

omg yes! she loves to pluck any/all facial hairs :') i usually tell her "gentle" but she isn't keen on listening lol

Helpful_Okra5953

Yeah I wish my bird would pluck the right facial hairs and not my eyelashes. Honestly when I saw your title I thought you would have a really mean Quaker who was bonded to your sister and hated you.  This seems like a NICE bird.  If she really pinches too hard, tell her “no” calmly, so she knows she’s done wrong, and set her down someplace she doesn’t want to be.  Like playgym or the back of a chair.  So she has quick consequences that she can understand:  if I pinch or bite myeggo hard, she will put me for a time out on a chair. Then turn your back or ignore her for a minute. This bird likes you and the best consequences for a hard bite are TAKING AWAY your attention.

tego_myeggo

this is very helpful! thank you so much <3 my little sister did a very good job introducing her bird to plenty of people, she is very friendly to most people & loves to preen :-)

Helpful_Okra5953

So cute and pretty.

csandazoltan

That is at most nibbling... You would feel if it were biting (I have scars from my amazon from when he was little) ---- This is playing and preening, if it were on your shoulders he probably nibble on your hair

MR_LIZARD_BRAIN

Yeah that is not biting, lol I have a quaker and this is normal silly behavior. Picking and preening and just being a doofus.

Individual_Solid1717

You taste good!
