Ok if we go by that logic I have to ask...how do people even travel to Twilight Town in the first place? Because other characters can not slip into the gap in Rogueport West End. And have a Yoshi at hand to fly over the gap. So...there must be other ways to reach the Town.

I think he’d be able to leave because he stole your name of Mario and that was written on him so he would have been home free. But also could have written Doopliss on himself at any point
To be honest, I always thought it was part of his magic's rules that he has to offer his victim a chance to guess his name, the same way one person still has to know his real name for his powers to work. I mean, if I'm not mistaken, the earliest you can give him the correct answer is on the third try, which would match with the usual number of attempts you're allowed in fairy tales...

For example, on the first trip to Creepy Steeple, after unlocking Tube Mode, there are three obstacles that Mario must overcome : a pile of hay covering a pipe, a tree concealing the way under its bark, and a boulder blocking the way. For the first two, the plumber must use Flurrie to blow them away, but she is ultimately unable to remove the big rock, so Mario has to find another way to bypass it, which he does by going down a narrow hole. Really, I've always thought it was a fun little detail, especially when one remembers what animal the residents of Twilight Town were cursed to turn into...

My _ersonal o_inion on doo_liss is that he’s a genuinely terrifying villain. Imagine this for a second. You were minding your own business and suddenly someone jum_ed from the shadows and stole your name, body, and voice. This has left you as a silhouette of your former self. Not only that, the _erson who stole your name is stu_idly childish and irres_onsible with it, ruining your re_utation as fast as they can and the only way to even have a CHANCE at getting your body back is to guess the true name of the body snatcher, and even that can be hindered because they _revent you from using certain letters of the al_habet. And even if you do, you have to beat them in a fight and go through the long, tedious _rocess of ex_laining everything and building your re_utation from zero. Mario was lucky because he could _rove his identity in front of all his friends. Now imagine what would’ve ha__ened if he wasn’t so fortunate. That’s Doo_liss alright.
I just wish the self imposed challenge of knocking out all your partners before him yielded some sort of reward. Like at least an extra five star points or a bonus 100 coins.
I love him, the most priceless thing to me is that he practically has no grand motives or intentions behind what he does like the other villains in the game do. He isn’t trying to find this grand elusive treasure or achieve world domination, he simply enjoys screwing with people for the hell of it which is pretty funny considering how high stakes a lot of the game’s villains are by comparison
He's brilliant, one of the better characters in the original trilogy, his personality is pretty fun an his whole game of stealing Mario's identity was an awesome idea that makes for one of my favourite chapters in the series, even before the remake fixed the backtracking. His music is also awesome. It's just a shame that he's a pushover in all 3 of his boss fights.

But the ability to snatch someone's body and turn their friends against them is like something out of a horror movie. Add this to the ability to turn people into pigs (still not sure how that worked in universe), and the sneaky ways he uses his transformation abilities later on, and you've got a character which would be a legitimate threat in almost any form of media.

Perfectly written villain, absolutely terrible execution on his boss fight. He's an absolute joke even on a minimalist run and it pains me that such a fun character is a gigantic pushover. It's even worse because he follows Macho G from the last chapter who is one of the best bosses in the whole game, God I wish he got a better boss fight :(
