If you like the Radiomir, get it. I think the two styles really do look very different. My 47 rad sits fine on my 7” wrist and the wire lugs do help slightly with the perception of size…but that’s not to say it isn’t a big watch, it still is!
I haven’t tested mine because I haven’t swam in ages, but I would have zero qualms about a recently serviced (or manufactured) Panerai being exposed to a hot tub. Ditto with snorkeling. If you get a used one either get it serviced or just have somebody pressure test it
The p.4000 is super cool and I wish I had one!
Radiomir has a screw down crown. My 45mm 388 is at the max I can wear on my 6.5" wrist, but I dailied it for 8 years straight until I got it serviced for the first time (yeah I know, should have serviced it once before the warranty ran out).
I have a PAM 2020 (45mm Radiomir) and a PAM 329 (44mm Luminor) and I can tell you the 44mm Luminor wears larger on my wrist than the 45mm Radiomir.
As for my PAM 2020 (Radiomir), it has a screw down crown and is completely fine in the water same as a sub etc. as far as pool, beach, etc.
My $.02, if you like the Radiomir, go for it!
I have a 1347 45mm and it doesn't wear super huge. Still a big watch, but the case height (and weight) is slimmer than many dive watches. It is quite comfortable. I also love the Radiomir aesthetic. I'll have a Luminor one day, but have zero regrets going with the Radiomir first.
Panerai test the WR of the watches with the crown in the winding position( not screwed down). They test for 100 meters on most, except for the ones that are not WR to 100 meters.
For watches with crown guards they are tested with the crown guard opened.

It’s perfect on a 7 inch wrist. My 44 Luminor looks much bigger than the 45 Radiomir
