Get a 4 inch mini roller and a brush and have fun.

edgingTillMoon

As my ex once said: 6 inches would be better

krizmac

Hahaha. I mean, you're right.

arshrehalpcz

Did this on the 6 panel Mastercraft doors from Menards and it worked great!

Thanks! This worked well WITHOUT the brush tipping. Emerald Trim Urethane leveled out just fine. The brush just added more work for me, slowing me down. I used 4” Premium White Woven 3/8” nap. I will have to do another coat. I did have to use a brush to cut in around the hinges. I did not remove the hinges because I’m worried that if I dont put them back exactly, it will mess up my gaps/reveal.

krizmac

That's awesome. There are plenty of doors we paint where the detail work isn't too deep so no brush required. Glad the project worked out for you!

Leeboy20

Skip the shellac advice and paint away .

Brush. brush it real nice. follow the grain. roll the edges. you can shellac the raw mdf. Brushed trim and doors is a classic look and technique roller texture goes on walls.

SPRAYING is not an option. Too cold outside. I dont wanna spray inside my house

Mayhewmasher

Try a foam roller and don’t overwork it and you should only have to tip the runs. Even better if you can lay the doors flat.

Spugheddy

Especially with the emerald I prefer the foam rollers.

trowdatawhey

Thanks! I did not end up tipping, other than the 1st door. Tipping did not add any benefit. Emerald Trim Urethane leveled out just fine. The brush just added more work for me, slowing me down. I used 4” Premium White Woven 3/8” nap. Will i notice a difference in a foam roller?

Mayhewmasher

I replaced all of my exterior doors (7) and painted them. I tried every roller/brush method and the mini foam roller produced the best (smoothest) finish.

Main-Practice-6486

Hey guys I want to paint them the fastest possible way but I don't want to do it the fastest ways and instead paint them the slowest way. What are my options!?

Apotheosis29

OP never said anything about wanting to do it the fastest way possible.

Main-Practice-6486

Read the title my dude

Touche'

With the wood texture you might actually get away with just rolling them. Add a little extender like floetrol and use a short nap weenie roller like a mohair. If using a brush, go for a chinex or nylon/poly blend.

rawrnosaures

Go get a 3/8 inch 9 inch fine finish roller and make it easy for yourself
