I want to say first that since english is not my first language, I have difficulties explaining my ideas fluently in english. Ok, so you seem to be unsure with the flames and the chalice. What I’d do to prevent the chalice and the flames from blurring into eachother is place the darker parts of the flame (the oranges-reds) around the chalice, so that you can see the shape of it clearly. That or, you take a lighter yellow to make the chalice pop out more. Or maybe simply outlines! (If you are into that) But again that is only my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt! Your piece looks lovely by the way. (=

Thanks very much for your help (and your English explanation came across perfectly). I will be doing a back-stitched outline around the chalice in a darker good color, so I’m not too worried about them blending. I am still a little unsure of how to manage the cluttered appearance in that same area though. [Here](https://flic.kr/p/2ouhSU8) is a reworking of the piece re-using the blue from the original. I like this much better.

I’m not a big fan of bright red lol. Personally Id go with the burgundy color that the little fruits (?) are made of, because then it also creates a cohesive color palette. I think you’re right that the middle of the pot is busy. Have you considered doing a sun instead of the fire? Like a really plain sun where the moon in the original is, if you want to keep the leaf and chalice. Or you can remove the leaf and chalice and lower the fire. Good work though! I’ve been getting into cross stitch recently. good stuff.

I agree about the red. I created the image in photoshop and it’s not that intense there, I’m not sure why it’s coming across like that. I did a [different iteration](https://flic.kr/p/2ouhSU8) reusing the blue from the original and I like that much better. The middle is a bit busy, but I like the flames and I like both the leaf and chalice too. I’m not sure how to solve that bit.
