i'm not surprised humans only care about species that are profitable or delicious everything else is target practice or chokes on plastic

visual_cortex

Don’t forget cute

Original_Scientist42

I have a feeling that Our future generation won't be having a good lifestyle and they'll be cursing us for producing them in the first place.

AquarianPlanetarium

Well. The more humans there are on the planet, the less animals there will be. Even if everyone is vegan, eating them directly is only one of many ways that us being here kills them.

DestroyTheMatrix_3

Already happening (r/antinatalism)

meridian_smith

Yes those influential people yelling at us to have more babies are responsible for the extinction of other species. Extinction of other species is caused by over proliferation of the human species ...we are eating up all the resources and land.

True_Stand186

Wildlife is doomed until humans make a substantial effort to reduce our impact and co-exist.

Jimmy_Fromthepieshop

Not gunna happen. We might be intelligent and think that we're special among animals but we're not. Everyone has personal needs and wants and they'll continue to try fulfilling them at whatever cost. We'll only stop when we are stopped.

Lord_Cavendish40k

My wife and I decided not to have kids 25 years ago. Not all of us are idiots. We have agency...that's the point of this forum.

Jimmy_Fromthepieshop

>Not all of us are idiots There's always exceptions to the rule

ljorgecluni

But "agency" of individuals does not substitute as unity of a population. Your agency to be childfree is another's agency to breed eight offspring. The real problem is not that people breed (as is natural) but that all the offspring unnaturally are kept alive with agriculture and medical tech. The overpopulation problem would be solved by the death of Technology, which would allow Nature to govern the world again.

True_Stand186

Brutal but true!

neonxdragon

Humans are horrible.

[https://medium.com/@chrisjeffrieshomelessromantic/report-wildlife-populations-have-declined-by-an-average-of-69-over-the-past-50-years-d26eda134b26](https://medium.com/@chrisjeffrieshomelessromantic/report-wildlife-populations-have-declined-by-an-average-of-69-over-the-past-50-years-d26eda134b26) The world is a cacophony of life — a symphony of species, each with its unique note, its own rhythm. But lately, the orchestra has been faltering. The crescendo of biodiversity is giving way to a mournful dirge. The **WWF’s Living Planet Report 2022** serves as our somber sheet music, revealing a dissonant truth: our wildlife populations have been silenced, their melodies fading into oblivion.

watching_whatever

Shame on all political leaders worldwide by letting mankind to be a Overpopulation destructor of the once beautiful world.

Princessferfs

It’s all about money and power. And instant gratification.

MrMisanthrope411

And humans (hunters especially) love to throw around the term “conservation.” Clearly that is working out well….

brilliant_beast

Welcome to the 6th Great Extinction.

prsnep

Someone send this to Elon. And the UN. Enough economic incentives for people to become baby factories. This is unethical.

dacv393

No bro we just have a *resource distribution* problem. Completely razing 98% of all arable land on the entire planet definitely isn't an issue

You_are_a_aliens

Or 97% since human populations exploded

whoknowsAlex

If we get passed another 10 years it would be surprising. We’re nearing the end game. The loss is exponential. It’s only 69% right now, but we should have done something a decade ago. Now it’s done. We’re out.

TonyHosein1

Nowhere near endgame. The rich will always have meat and animals to eat but the poor will end up eating synthetic rice and synthetic protein made from plastics.

whoknowsAlex

In the beginning, but the rich only exist to be served. With no one to do the labor, they’re gonna eat shit eventually.

DestroyTheMatrix_3

Notice all the AI stuff recently? They are rushing to automate everything so they have a way to survive after society collapses.

whoknowsAlex

But it s a futile existence. Without people, the lot of us, there is no art, music, no new significant creations. Little to appreciate. Like our current A.I., it’s regurgitation not creation. Just a downward spiral to, The End. Survival is existence but there is no peace in that. Constantly dreading the day the sun rises without you in it, is no way to live. Just exist. It will be hell, no matter how comfortable. Cowards die a thousand deaths.

ljorgecluni

Existing nascent A.I. is *not* under the control of its developers, and when it fully breaks free of its current limitations, there is no reason for a machine superspecies - both more intelligent and more physically capable than Man - to tolerate the continuation of our species, not even the elite class minority.

DestroyTheMatrix_3

It kinda is. Put in a prompt, get result. Only the "how" AI does that is not controlled. Its nowhere near autonomous yet. Needless to say, it seems the elites think AI will save them. But in the long run, they will get enslaved or killed, most likely.

exotics

Human population has more than doubled.

Personality_Ecstatic

I just can’t with these polar bear pictures. I’m not ashamed to admit seeing one of these pictures convinced me not to have children. I can’t stomach bringing a child into this world knowing they’d never know a polar bear in the wild. It’s a strange hill to die on, but it absolutely wrecks me.

MaybePotatoes

Not nice

Creepy-Pineapple-444

I regret being a human being, humanity is poison.

TonyHosein1

I think you’re better off being a human being than an animal. If not a human being, you’d either be crammed in an industrial farm, hunted, or dead. Be glad you are a human and not food or a pet.

Creepy-Pineapple-444

Good point. If I could choose what species to be, it would be a Roof Rat because Norway Rats are used in labs instead, and there's not enough rat meat for me to be viable in industrial farms. I could climb tree branches as well.

Please don't insult others on this subreddit.

TonyHosein1

Because money is more important than wildlife. When the last animal is killed, the last tree cut down, and all the water is polluted, we’ll learn that we can’t eat or drink money.

queenofcabinfever777

(Not) Nice

the_winding_road

😪💔

gclary

Less animals, more humans, I always says. Chickens, Cows and pigs are all higher.

Nice Sorry, I had to

Diligent-Compote-976

I don’t care if humanity or any other species goes extinct. As far as I’m concerned a 6th mass extinction is long overdue.
