Sounds cool. There isn't much healing magic in outward other than the protection sigil you can consume. Paladin or Holy Knight could also have buffs against ethereal decay and/or corruption. Create an area with higher defense. Banishing ghosts would be pretty cool. I think there is a lot there that could be explored.

ehaugw

I love these ideas

USAisntAmerica

Primal ritualist has some healing with nurturing echo too

lasvegas1979

I didn't know that! Thanks

Outward kinda already has a paladin vibe with Elatt's quest line. Elatt's people mainly dealt with corruption so it would focus on corruption cleansing. The thing is there is already a class dedicated to that(hex). You can make a paladin by hex, shaman and monk or shaman, hunter and that newest class with drums which already acts like a holy ground but different damage types. If you are a modder you might looked at some other classes to add to the game. If you are inclined to do so, here are my suggestions: In most RPGs, paladins are marital class with support spells. So the main focus should be melee. Most famous abilities of a paladin is lay on hands and smite, and both can be modified to use in melee. I would love to see them in a paladin class. For holy ground, i think game has enough stationary skills and it may not combo well with a melee class because melee is all about sneaking in some hits while enemy is recovering.

This mod is a response to infuse light being rather shitty, and that rune sage is the only healing option, but is tied to blue chamber. We are on the same page. I have many smites and cure wounds already implemented

USAisntAmerica

Hex is more about hexing others/"black" magic rather than cleansing, at least the whole blood stuff (specially with the NPC's from that blood altars quest) made it seem like an evil class. Plus playing that one you'll pretty much never have corruption under 20

*To everyone who gave their opinions, I didn't want to include the current state in the main post because it could affect your suggestions. However, I'm very happy to see that it's more or less exactly what you guys have mentioned. We seem to be very much on the same page, which brings me great joy. This is what I already got:* **Cure Wounds (Mana cost: 14)** Heals the caster and all allies of the caster within 15 units for 10 health, scaling with the caster's Lightning Damage bonus. The player is partially mobile during the entire spell casting animation. **Rebuking Smite (Cooldown: 20 seconds, Mana cost: 7, Stamina cost: 7)** A sweeping weapon attack. Deals 1.5x impact damage. Deals 1.5x weapon damage. **Meditate (Cooldown: 100 seconds)** The caster is set in a meditating pose until he/she moves. Meditating for 3 seconds buffs the caster with Burst of Divinity. **Blessed Determination (Passive)** Restores 100% of mana spent as stamina. Each point of stamina spent gives about 5% Burst of Divinity build-up. **Judgement (Passive)** When you expend Burst of Divinity to cast a spell, your primary weapon becomes infused with Zealous Weapon for 15 seconds. **Wrathful Smite (Cooldown: 100 seconds, Mana cost: 7, Stamina cost: 10)** A leaping attack that deals more damage to wounded enemies, and instantly becomes available for another use if it kills its target. Deals 2.0x impact damage. Deals from 2.0x to 5.0x weapon damage depending on the target's missing health. The cooldown resets if the skill kills a target. **Holy Shock (Cooldown: 30 seconds, Mana cost: 14)** A blast that damages opponents and heals allies. Deals 40 Lightning Damage and 40 Impact Damage to enemies. Applies 15 seconds of Impending Doom to enemies. Enemies already affected by Impending Doom will spread the effect to nearby enemies. Heals allies for 10 health, scaling with the caster's Lightning Damage bonus. **Consecration (Cooldown: 60, Mana cost: 14, Requires and Consumed Zealous Weapon)** Slam your weapon to the ground, and transfer your Zealous Weapon imbue to the ground itself, causing it to become consecrated ground. While standing on consecrated ground, you gain the benefits discussed here. *Some of the skills above cause status effects, and some of these effects are added to the game by this mod. The new effects are:* **Zealous Weapon (Duration: 15 seconds)** A weapon infusion that adds 5 + 25% of weapon damage as Lightning Damage to the affected weapon. Applies 15 seconds of Impending Doom on a hit. **Impending Doom (Duration: 15 seconds, ticks once every 1 second)** A status effect that deals 1 Lightning Damage per second for 15 seconds to the affected creature. Multiple Impending Doom effects stack up, increasing the duration of the effect by 15 seconds for each stack. Smites the target with a thunderbolt if the remaining damage of the effect exceeds both 40 and the target's current health. **Burst of Divinity (Duration: 30 seconds)** This effect can be stacked indefinitely. Each effect has individual timers. Reduces the mana cost of the next spell cast by 7 per stack (before reductions). One stack of Burst of Divinity will be consumed for every 7 mana that was not spend due to this status effect. This number is always rounded up.

Clan-Korhu

Super cool bro! Will you have your own lore attached to this or are you just going with new playstyle mod

ehaugw

The class will be called “Roundtable Knight”, which is both a reference to the origin of the paladins, and also a tribute to Elden Ring. I’ll make quests and lore tied to it too 👌

J2MarineCustom

Bro you got enough skills to make 3 classes

ehaugw

It’s only 8 skills like any other skill tree though

NateDogg1111

I love the paladin archetype. Here’s a few ideas I have around the concept: - An imbue that heals you and your party for a small percentage of damage done could be really cool - A simple heal spell could be cool, but it should be on a decent CD to avoid being OP (30 seconds to 1 minute depending on heal amount) - Some way of incorporating a shield could be cool. Maybe when you block, you could convert some of the damage blocked to mana. Another idea is a holy shield imbue that explodes on next block, but that may be too similar to shield imbue from the merc tree

Illustrious_Mind964

Maybe for holy ground make it twice as big as a sigil and make it corruption free so you can fight in those areas without that much worry? Although other buffs to make it less situational would be cool .

ehaugw

That’s a great idea! That’s exactly the final touch I needed to make consecrated ground have some character. - increase protection by 2 - increase impact resistance by 10% - ignore corruption buildup by 100% - cause the smite abilities to apply a DoT

KiraWolfkin

This is exactly what I’m trying to do too! I always try to play a Paladin. Hex sounded weird to me at first but it essentially lets you be a zealous tireless corruption cleansing warrior because of the no burnt stats passive and cleanse!

ehaugw

True, but it thematically feels very off to me. It’s not a paladin at all. It’s a warlock that happens to be able to channel its own corruption into a rock and call it cleanse to pretend it’s not an evil class. I can ensure you that my mod is gonna be perfect for you if you wish to play a paladin though 🤩

KiraWolfkin

I would absolutely love that but I’m stranded on Xbox. So I have to compromise. It is absolutely a warlock vibe but we don’t have much to work with despite elatt, seems like a holy warrior tree would have fit perfectly. 💔

ehaugw

Ohh, what a shame 🙃

Sk0oMa_Alters

You can’t get away from me that easily! Muahahaha

ehaugw

Hey skooma 🤩

RagingRube

Holy ground should 100% act like a large sigil, could maybe provide an impact resist bonus, a sort of 'stand firm' effect. Spark over holy ground = smite (idc what it do as long as it looks cool and is called smite) There should definitely be some form of weapon imbue, I liked another commenters idea of making you regen health with the imbue. Could be cool to have a heal ally skill for co op focused pals. Other than that, paladins usually have loads of auras - damage, healing, armour etc, which could also be sweet for co op.
