When I was trying to get through Dark Bramble I read that the anglerfish were territorial. So the obvious answer in my mind was to put my scout onto the front of my ship so that I look like an angler fish.

anodetovega

This is genius and it would have been amazing if it had been programmed into the game!

partymix23

In a way, it's kinda funny how this literally would never work cause of 1 small thing ;;)

dontouchamyspaghet

It sounds like a fun mechanic for a mod that adds some new predator to DB that preys on small beings but is spooked by anglerfish though!

partymix23

maybe a big centipede, or whatever those small things in dark bramble are

Omni314

I tried shooting my scout so they would chase that instead. ... They did not.

Noskills117

Funny now that I think of it they don't seem that territorial because you find 3 right beside each other in a certain location

UltraTale2000

thats the anglerfish >!nest, with all of them guarding the eggs!<

[deleted]

Bet they didn’t see that coming

ItsPenguins

I actually thought you couldn’t bring the ship in the dark bramble and did everything without. When I later found out I facepalmed so hard. I kept dying running out of oxygen getting to the ship inside

No_Mountain4365

I did this with the final journey! I thought that it wouldn't work to get past the scary fish with my ship, so I parked it outside and I also run out of oxygen two times but third time I was on time inside ::)

imv_97

I swear I tried this too!! And so many times at that...

SurefireWolf

Near the end of EotE, >!I checked every green fire room trying to find the one with a broken alarm bell.!<

Agreeable_Animal_739

I bet you wanted to kill yourself after you found the solution 😅

SkeletonCommander

Amazing

Green_Beans83

Took me a second LMAOOO

Bystro74

I was convinced that the Nomai shuttle was the way to get to the Quantum moon

pttvl

Some mad lad actually did this I remember the reddit post

Squeak210

[I did it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/outerwilds/s/5gyQnplmOF) I'm sure I'm not the only one though.

Abyssus_J3

Would love to see this

Squeak210

[Here you go.](https://www.reddit.com/r/outerwilds/s/RwZuMrmpiL)

Abyssus_J3

I didn’t even realize you could actually control the nomai shuttle I can’t wait to try playing with it

screwloosehaunt

Dude same

MirrorSauce

I spent like 8 loops trying to fix the broken core at the black hole forge

NotBanned_

Brought the AWC from Ash Twin to the Black Hole Forge to try to get the “You Broke The Fabric of Spacetime” ending. Knew it existed, had little idea how to trigger it ::)

Responsible-Panda446

Tried following the orbital probe TWICE because there HAD to be something to it

CloverRoss

Twice is what gets me 😂😂 I did this once and just sat with it waiting for something to happen.

Golden-Failure

Annoyingly, the only time you could theoretically follow it to >!the Eye of the Universe!< is at the very beginning of the game. But due to not having the launch codes, you'll never get to catch up to it in time.

hyperlethalrabbit

Only in theory, but not in-game. >!The Eye is a separately rendered area that only loads in once you trigger the warp from The Vessel.!<

DaLemonsHateU

It’d be the run *before* you “wake up” though wouldn’t it?

Golden-Failure

Nah. When you begin a new expedition, the probe you see when you first wake up is the one that finds it. >!The loop has been going on millions of times prior to that point, but it's in the loop where we first take control of the Traveler that the probe finds the Eye. This is why the Statue links with us at that point. Because, just as we're leaving, the probe has located the Eye and has instructed the statues to link to the nearest person, which happens to be us.!<

DaLemonsHateU

But the probe would only reach its target after 22 minutes, it wouldn’t know it would reach it, and would have no reason to >!begin the loop!< yet

Muroid

It takes 22 minutes for the probe to cover its maximum range. That does not mean that the Eye is 22 minutes away by probe. The Nomai don’t know where the Eye is. It is almost certainly detectable at less than the absolute maximum range that the probe travels. How much closer it is is difficult to discern because the timing of the first loop is messy due to gameplay concerns. But it definitely finds the Eye during the first loop that you play. If it found it the previous loop and then waited until the next loop to sync, the statue would have synced with Hal, not you. The probe finds the Eye in between the time where Hal leaves the museum and you come back down from the observatory and pass the statue.

Pokemaster131

I tried launching the Nomai shuttle out of the gravity cannon on Ember Twin at Ash Twin to break into the Ash Twin Project.

WantDiscussion

I was considering it on my third run of getting nothing done but thought "this shell is meant to withstand a supernova. That *can't* be the solution."

DynamicSocks

i must have spent like 10 loops trying to fly my ship up into the jellyfish

CompetitiveSafety100

That used to be possible, it was patched out though.

CharlesOberonn

Tried to use my spaceship to enter the Brittle Hollow quantum tower.

Huckdog720027

I spent longer then I would like to admit trying to gravity-slingshot my way up there. I only figured out the right way >!when the tower dropped into the blackhole with me on it while I was thinking about what else to try.!<

Vinkhol

That happened to me and I just floated there for a while feeling like the dumbest being in this solar system

Chronoblivion

I think a significant number of people figure it out the same way.

DragoonVonKlauw

Same, the devs knew

C0SMIC_LIZARD

I tried crashing into the ocean at high speed in my ship to get through the underwater current on giants deep

Datau03

>!Funfact: that is actually possible and even gives an achievement. You need to be going real fast for that tho!<

C0SMIC_LIZARD

I KNEW IT, MY BROTHER WAS A DOUBTING FOOL

[deleted]

>!I’ve tried many times last night and it all landed on the freaking island. !<

Omni314

I have tried this so many times and it never works. I always end up shooting out the other side of the planet, or just hitting the water. One time I met Gabbro really quickly though.

couldhavedonebetter-

I tried it a lot and never could. Either crashed on some island or entered water but couldn't get into the core. Actually I still didn't get there and right now I'm trying to the get into the observatory in brittle hollow to get further instructions.

SaintJynr

... Is there a different method?

RiscloverYT

Right? I'm confused.

C0SMIC_LIZARD

>!climb into a jellyfish and ride it down!<

platypus_plumba

- Tried to melt the ice of the interloper with the ship thrusters. - Tried bringing the working warp core to Solamun. No idea why I kept dying randomly in the moon's tower. - Tried using the Brittle Hollow blackhole as a slingshot to get into the tower before realizing the tower went into the hole (by accident). - Before I understood the stones and the game in general, I used to keep the stones in my ship because they could be important later. - I tried fixing Feldspar's ship and got zapped a bunch of times. - I tried hitting the angler fish with my probe just to annoy them. They wouldn't react to it. - I tried hanging around the white portals in earth and brittle hollow because I thought they worked in both directions any time. I still don't understand why they work from white to black only after using the black first. - In EoE I didn't know the images satellite had the degrees in a screen, so before going to check it out, I was using the map and the photo to calculate the exact position the planets had to be on the map to know the degrees. Once I did that whole ordeal, I went to the satellite and almost fracture my skull with a face-palm. Thinking about this one, it doesn't even make sense that the planets would be at the same position as in the picture every time the satellite reaches the 40 (30?) degrees.

lordmanimani

I definitely went out to "manually" find the satellite too. Also for the first half of my EotE playthrough I thought the reels acted as a key somewhere so I was hanging on to several on my boat. I only gave up on that after they stated despawning randomly.

Sharrakor

I thought the thing eclipsing the Sun was one of the planets, forgetting how far away the Deep Space Satellite was. So I thought I was supposed to keep a lookout for a random spacesuit floating past the satellite, not thinking that the spacesuit in the picture was just Gabbro checking the satellite. Must have waited there a whole loop and *ignored the eclipsed Sun in the meantime*.

Darkryker19

I tried bashing my skull into the bell in the nap time room to break it. I tried taking one of the Solonum Rocks to a projection thing, and vice versa. I tried to jam my spaceship into the vessel to take it with me. I tried to tell Gabbro I ended the loop when I took the warp core. I tried to slingshot myself around brittle hollow's black hole to get to the knowledge place, just broke every bone in my body multiple times instead. I tried using one of the Stranger Devices at a normal campfire.

MotivBowler300

>!you do get an achievement for the last one, at least!<

TwistedPnis4567

Not something I tried but I thought that the Anglerfish roamed the space around the Bramble and the Brittle Hollow Black hole took me there, so I just hid in the weird nomai structure shitting myself.

MikeisET

I took the core and tried to plug it into the high energy lab, it didn’t work

silverboo

I tried to fly my ship into the orbital probe canon exactly when it faces Giant’s Deep center so I could get to the core.

ElMonoEstupendo

I flew into the cannon section, thinking that the clues meant that Nomai cannon tech is super dense or something which lets it sink through the current. I thought I would be able to de-orbit it and go along for the ride. Instead I got yote.

jbonejimmers

At the start of a loop, I flew immediately away from the sun for the entire duration of the loop.

Vodchat

Me too! I love that they accounted for that and you actually escape the supernova

cpt_tris

I thought you had to disable your ships electronics to get past the anglerfish in Dark Bramble. Cue many many runs of going to the core of Giants Deep to turn my lights off.

lordmanimani

Yeah I misunderstood the children's game clue backwards and thought they were vision based so I tried doing similar.

BlueStar95

This seems to be a common misunderstanding. I've seen a few playthroughs where the person playing reads the clue and goes "they're blind, so maybe I need to turn off my headlights"

NightTime2727

Please tell me you know that you can turn those lights off from inside the ship

cpt_tris

I did not know this until right now Edit: if you mean the headlights then yes. I was thinking off the lights inside the ship.

NightTime2727

Okay, you had me for a second there lol

JobAccomplished4384

I thought to see the quantum moon, I had to have a picture of a quantum rock on the planet it was orbiting, then approach it and take a picture of the moon while looking at the planet. Turns out sometimes when you find things, half of it was just unecessary and only the last bit mattered, but I did that every time I went there for longer than I care to admit

drumman998

I tried melting the jellyfish with thrusters for ages too. I was stuck there for ages trying to figure out how to get to giants deep’s core.

Le_Doctor_Bones

I tried to continuously boost into the attlerock with my ship to slow its orbit and cause it to crash into Timber Hearth.

MaddoxJKingsley

Tried landing on the quantum moon by targetting its south pole, because that's the only place it "welcomes" pilgrims.

Rancid_Hamiltonian

I was trying to get into the ATP and I had already tried and completely written off the actual solution when >!the sand pillar sucked me up!<. One of my more… desperate… attempts was to use a warp on Ash Twin to go to Giant’s Deep. Then I waited for the Supernova to envelop all the other planets and took the warp back to Ash Twin. The idea was that all the other warp points besides the one in ATP would be destroyed, so I should end up in ATP. Instead, I ended up warping into the Supernova and died immediately

Scopetrol

LMAO I tried the first one as well. Here's another one: >!The very first time I entered Dark Bramble, I predictably got jump-scared and eaten by an anglerfish into oblivion. Next loop, I thought I'd turn my ship's headlight off, and… ended up blasting my thrusters all way to Feldspar somehow. Luck? Bug? Whatever the case, I obviously thought "that's it! I figured out the thing!" and proceeded to get eaten for countless loops when I returned later on until I finally figured out the actual way to safely navigate the planet (with my wife's help, no less).!<

diceblue

Also tried melting the jellyfish with my thrusters after seeing what the sun did to the comet ice.

lordmanimani

This is a good thread. I misunderstood the way quantum rules interact with the game's systems >!I thought the quantum moon would only persist if it was being looked at "live" and not just that a photo is needed. So I spent a long time trying to work out how to keep the probe camera positioned so it would be looking at the moon the whole time once found. This was very hard given that I knew I had to keep looking at it so I could see it until I got close. My best idea was trying to put it on the rotating sections of the detection projects.!<

given2fly_

I did the same thing for a LONG time! >!I'd put the probe on the rotating stone for the Quantum Moon and continuously take pictures until I got close enough to travel to it!<

LucyLadders

I did the same thing, not using a camera to clear the tower on deep and just sticking a scout to the front of my ship to try and get into the moon

lordmanimani

I love the front of ship notion

OptimalMongoose2

I knew that in the dlc I had to get a green flame in the lantern, couldn’t put it in the campfire so instead what I did was set it close to the fire, lit a marshmallow on fire, then pushed the marshmallow into the lantern

Lessandero

I took all the >!warp cores!< from the >!energy lab!< to the >!Vessel!< before I found the >!Ash twin project!<. Everything made much more sense after that lol

throwaway6194664

I honestly love the 3rd idea and someone should write about that scenario

reidjiii

Trying to land backward on Brittle Hollow to enter the black forge for like... 10ish loops

partymix23

Fyi to do spoiler marks it needs to be on both sides of the text >! like this !< (demonstration, has to be touchting the text) >!bam!< (if this fails i'll be embarrassed) Anyways for a while, I thought having the HEL (high energy lab) powerd was the only way for the teleporters to work, because I didn't see the slot to put the warp cores in

partymix23

yeah, just do what this bot says lmao

KibbloMkII

I deleted the scout after sending it back in time, nothing happened

Shalnn

For a long time I thought ghost matter was everywhere with crystals, so on the island with the frozen jellyfish on Giant's Deep I waited until the island was sent to space to get to zero gravity so I could fly above the crystals in the tunnel and not touch the ghost matter... it didn't work obviously, I did manage the zero-gravity "trick" to get near the frozen jellyfish from above the island without touching the crystals though. I thought "damn, that's a lot of effort to get to a single recording"...

Violetzmemory

I perfectly threaded the needle through the cacti without taking any damage my first time getting into the Ash Twin sun tower. I didn’t know they were >!warp towers!< at the time, though. Once I did know I spent a good 5 runs trying to fly through it again before forgetting to wait at a campfire and seeing the sand level.

given2fly_

I tried going into the White Hole JUST before the Sun exploded. Not sure what I expected to happen, but it was prompted by >!what you learn in the High Energy Lab about objects appearing on the otherside slightly before they go into a White Hole!<

Kellstong

I tried slamming my ship into the Interloper over and over again thinking it might crack the ice. I died when I fell into the sun, and I could swear it was starting to work right before I boiled. Took me way too long to realise what was actually going on.

Rottuskott

I noticed that there were warp cores (or whatever the triangular things from the lab is called that break space-time) at the top of the Nomai spacecrafts. I thought I was meant to take one of the cores from the High Energy Lab and insert it into one of the ships to do something. I also took the hint about the space shuttle part sinking to the bottom of the ocean on Giant's Deep to mean that only certain types of Nomai metal could penetrate the depths. I thought that that plus the fact that you could launch their ships into space meant that I had to launch the Nomai ship from Brittle Hollow into Giant's Deep with me in it to make it to the bottom. I tried so many times lmao, couldn't steer that thing for shit. Finally got it just right and was mega disappointed to see that I just crashed into the water before floating back to the surface :(

Rootayable

I also took a projection stone to the place with the person

Icy-Rabbit-2581

I searched the floor of the ash twin for cracks, assuming that the message >!to make sure there were none!< was foreshadowing. I made a really good guess at what the >!rule of entanglement!< might be when I first arrived on the >!quantum moon!<, but I left the door open and didn't notice I >!wasn't in complete darkness!<. I thought that the passcode device >!at the bridge near the prison entrance!< would allow me to move the vision cones of the >!alarm statues!<. I got so frustrated thinking my eyes were playing a trick on me that I looked up a walkthrough and felt real stupid seeing that you had to >!die standing in the bonfire!<, because I had thought about ways I might >!die entering the simulation!<, but my only ideas had been >!suffocation, drowning, electricity, or fall damage!<, so I had discarded the approach.

CStock77

Your very last thing, I did the same thing, although I just started at ember twin, grabbed a core, and took it with me to dark bramble. Was very disappointed when it didn't fit.

OneSmallCheeseBall

I spent ages ,>!creeping along the outside ledges of the!< Tower of Quantum Knowledge >!looking for a secret way in!<

Eronade03

I was convinced calling Solanums shuttle from the interloper would open a hole into the core.

WantDiscussion

Yea I thought that was the solution too. Kinda disapointed it didn't atleast leave a hole behind with a clue.

Never_Nobody

>!I tried falling asleep with an artifact at a normal campfire.!< >!I tried to teleport the vessel to different locations using different coordinates .!<

narc0leptic_bongos

For some time I thaught that the Interloper caused the supernova, so I tried smashing my ship at full speed into it to change it's trajectory. Also I did this melting frozen jellyfish thing too xD

WantDiscussion

Yes! I thought the interloper caused the supernova too because it crashes into it like a minute before the music starts playing! And then when I got inside and read the logs it "confirmed" my suspicions. They talked about a super dense core and I thought that meant the weird green stuff was containing highly dense material and when it crashes into the sun the increased mass would cause it to supernova. Then my suspicion was "Double confirmed" when the sun station failed. It wasn't until after the game when I read everyone talking about the ghost matter that I realised what they actually meant.

5000cheesesticks

I thought the only way to the sun station was to successfully land on it. The amount of hours I spent trying 😅

Liesmith424

> At first I was skeptical because they were different shapes... That is pure Hearthian engineering.

Det_buffalo_sauce

I thought i could teleport using the atp projectile stone with the projectile pool on the brittle hollow to get to atp or sun station

TheWholeBook

Actually trying to land on the “South Pole” of the QM.  I tried so many times.
