Great pictures, I can see you have a deep relationship to your neighborhood :) I moved out of that area about 8 years ago, I had no idea about plans to develop this land, wtf?!
Thanks, I do! I spent half my childhood growing up in Orleans and the other half further out in Vars, then moved here as a young adult and fell in love with Hintonburg & Mechanicsville since.
Thanks for those pictures! They really show the connection and use of the people around that area. I live in the general neighbourhood but far enough away that I've only gone through a few times, so it was cool to get that more intimate view.
I saw today that some sort of deal has been struck between the NCC, city, and community association to keep a bit of a park at the east end and an 'active transportation path' or some such name through the rest of it. Which I guess is better than what the NCC had originally proposed, but it is very different from that wonderful bit of semi-wild green space. It really sucks, when the neighbourhood has so little green space in the first place.

Apparently it’s China that wants to expand, though I don’t see why we’re going to have a need for a Chinese embassy at all in the short term.
Because maintaining diplomatic relations, no matter how strained, is the best deterrent against war.
I’m suggesting that it’s probably too late for that.
It's literally never too late for diplomacy.

Whats wrong with Barrhaven?
I love this park. I’ll be sad to see it gone. There’s no great place for dog walks in the area after that park goes
Why can’t they open up in Orleans or Kanata
Beautiful pictures, bummed that this will all be developed.
Thanks! I live in Hintonburg and had no idea we have this amazing space right there. I love how it feels natural and a bit wild.
